In this paper, a software behavior-based technique is presented to detect control-flow errors in multi-core architectures. The analysis of a key point leads to introduction of the proposed technique: employing under-utilized CPU resources in multi-core processors to check the execution flow of the programs concurrently and in parallel with the main executions. To evaluate the proposed technique, a quad-core processor system was used as the simulation environment, and the behavior of SPEC CPU2006 benchmarks were studied as the target to compare with conventional techniques. The experimental results, with regard to both detection coverage and performance overhead, demonstrate that on average, about 94% of the control-flow errors can be detected by the proposed technique, with less performance overhead compared to previous techniques.

This article has been retracted. This is a notice of retraction of the article: The evaluation of fish farming impact by nutrient content and chlorophyll A in Mala Lamljana bay, published in the Archives of Biological Sciences in 2013, Vol. 65, Issue 3. The Editor-in-Chief has been informed that the data in this article has already been published in the following article: Jelic Mrcelic G, Sliskovic M. The impact of fish cages on water quality in one fish farm in Croatia. Int Sci Index. 2010;4(8):775-8. Inspection of these articles has revealed the following: a significant part of the data in the article published in the Archives of Biological Sciences was published without proper cross-referencing to the data already published in the earlier paper. This issue was discussed with one of the two authors and it was mutually agreed to retract the article.

Link to the retracted article 10.2298/ABS1302567J

The use of pointers and indirect memory accesses in the program, as well as the complex control flow are some of the main weaknesses of the static analysis of programs. The program properties investigated by this analysis are too conservative to accurately describe program behavior and hence they prevent parallel execution of the program. The application of dynamic analysis allows us to expand the capabilities of semi-automatic parallelization. In the SAPFOR system (System FOR Automated Parallelization), a dynamic analysis tool has been implemented, based on on the instrumentation of the LLVM representation of an analyzed program, which allows the system to explore programs in both C and Fortran programming languages. The capabilities of the static analysis implemented in SAPFOR are used to reduce the overhead program execution, while maintaining the completeness of the analysis. The use of static analysis allows to reduce the number of analyzed memory accesses and to ignore scalar variables, which can be explored in a static way. The developed tool was tested on performance tests from the NAS Parallel Benchmarks package for C and Fortran languages. The implementation of dynamic analysis, in addition to traditional types of data dependencies (flow, anit, output), allows us to determine privitizable variables and a possibility of pipeline execution of loops. Together with the capabilities of DVM and OpenMP these greatly facilitates program parallelization and simplify insertion of the appropriate compiler directives.

This is a notice of retraction of the article: Effect of 7-nitroindazole on superoxide production and MnSOD activity in the rat brain following kainate-induced neurotoxicity, published in the Archives of Biological Sciences in 2008, Vol. 60, Issue 1. The Editor-in-Chief has been informed that this paper plagiarizes an earlier paper: Radenovic L, Selakovic V, Kartelija G, Todorovic N, Nedeljkovic M. Differential effects of NMDA and AMPA/kainate receptor antagonists on superoxide production and MnSOD activity in rat brain following intrahippocampal injection. Brain Res Bull, 2004, 64(1):85-93. The results in the article being retracted were presented as findings obtained from novel research. Inspection of the results has revealed that they were part of research already presented in the original article without appropriate justification or cross-referencing. The Editor-in-Chief considered publishing a notice of redundancy specifying the elements published previously. However, since the original article had already been autoplagiarized by the same corresponding author in the same journal (retraction DOI:10.2298/ABS150318026E), the article is being retracted in accordance with the publishing ethics of the Archives of Biological Sciences in order to preserve the integrity of scientific research. We apologize to the journal's readers that it took so long to notice this error and instigate retraction of the paper. We request our readers to contact the editorial office and editors of the journal directly should similar cases occur in the future, so that the necessary action can be taken more promptly.

Link to the retracted article 10.2298/ABS0801025R

Motivation for new models of hyper-computations was presented. Sleptsov net was introduced compared to Petri and Salwicki nets. A concept of universal Sleptsov net, as a prototype of a processor in Sleptsov net computing, was discussed. Small universal Sleptsov net that runs in polynomial time was constructed; it consists of 15 places and 29 transitions. Principles of programming in Sleptsov nets, as composition of reverse control flow and data, have been developed. Standard control flow patterns include sequence, branching, loop, and parallel execution. Basic modules, which implement efficiently copying, logic, and arithmetic operations, have been developed. Special dashed arcs were introduced for brief specification of input and output data of modules (subnets). Ways of hierarchical composition of a program via substitution of a transition by a module were discussed. Examples of Sleptsov net programs for data encryption, fuzzy logic, and partial differential equations have been presented. Enterprise implementation of Sleptsov net programming promises ultra-performance.
