Prolonged economic recession occasioned by the collapse of the world oil market from the early 1980 and the attendant sharp fall in foreign exchange earnings have adversely affected economic growth and development in Nigeria. This study was necessitated to identify the extent of relationship that exists between strategic orientation and recessed economy: options for consumer goods manufacturing sub-sector in Nigeria. Ex-Post Facto research design was employed for the study and simple regression analysis was adopted in analyzing the data. The findings of the study revealed that entrepreneurial orientation has a significant positive relationship with economic development. This explains that an increase in strategic orientation will lead to a resultant increase in economic development and vice versa. The study therefore recommended that government should key in by reversing the poor performance of consumer goods manufacturing sector in providing incentives for the firms to become more export oriented and improve the already established structural reforms in order to improve transparency and stability of both financial system, and fiscal activities to restore confidence in the economy during recession.

This study evaluates the effect of director’s tunnelling on asset utilization of companies in consumer goods sector in Nigeria using a panel data collected from annual financial report of thirty listed consumer goods firm in Nigeria between 2011 and 2016. The study was based on ex-post-facto research design and the data collected were analysed using descriptive statistics, correlation analysis and multiple regression. The study finds that the director’s pay and equity holding varies widely among consumer goods firms. Chairman’s pay and director’s equity holding have a statistically significant effect on asset utilization at 5% level. While the director’s pay policy has no statistically significant effect on asset utilization. The finding shows pay, chairman’s pay and director’s equity holding are three major avenues used for tunnelling as they have a significant effect on tunnelling. The study recommends that policymaker should formulate a policy that will reduce the tunnelling tendency of directors and board chairman.

This study assessed the effect of asset mix on financial performance of selected consumer goods firms in Nigeria. The specific objectives of the study were to determine the effects of tangible non-current assets, current and intangible assets structures and returns on asset. Ex post facto research design was adopted and data obtained from the annual reports of the companies for a seven-year period from 2013 to 2019. Multiple regression analytical technique was employed in analyzing the data. The findings of the study revealed that the independent variables employed in the study explained about 13.7% of the variations in returns on asset. Specifically, both current and intangible assets have positive and significant effect with ROA at 5% level of significance. Noncurrent asset has positive but insignificant effect on ROA. Thus, the assets composition of a firm plays a critical role in the financial performance of that firm, although it explains only about 14% of the performance of the firm. It was therefore recommended that firms should increase their current and intangible assets, but should keep it at an optimum level that will ensure that maturing short-term business obligations are met.

Aims: To determine gender and faculty of study as predictor of undergraduate students’ academic achievement in tertiary institutions in Nigeria. Study Design: Ex-post facto research design. Methodology: The sample for the study was 632 100 level students selected using simple random sampling technique of balloting without replacement. These students were selected from tertiary institutions sampled for the study. The data collected were pre-existing results of 100 level students on General mathematics retrieved from the respective departments sampled earlier. Data collected was analyzed using simple regression analysis. Results: The results of this study revealed that gender of undergraduate students had R2 change of 0.004. This indicates that gender had the predictive power of 0.40 percent for undergraduates’ achievement in General Mathematics. Also, at 1df numerator, 631 df denominator and P=.05, the calculated F value 2.54 is less than the critical F value of 3.84. Therefore, gender of undergraduates in tertiary institutions is not a significant predictor of their achievements in General Mathematics. On the other hand, the results showed that undergraduate students had R2 change of 0.009. This indicates that faculty of study had the predictive power of 0.90 percent for undergraduates academic achievement in General Mathematics. Also, at 1df numerator, 631df denominator and P = .05, the calculated F value 6.78 is greater than the critical F value of 3.84. Therefore, students’ faculty of study in tertiary institutions is a significant predictor of their achievements in General Mathematics. Conclusion: Based on the analysis carried out, it was concluded that gender of undergraduates in tertiary institutions is not a significant predictor of their achievement in General Mathematics. On the contrary, students’ faculty of study in tertiary institutions was found to be a significant predictor of their achievements in General Mathematics.

This study explores the relationship between Accounting conservatism and Bank performance in Nigeria. The study uses ex-post facto research design in a sample of 10 Nigerian deposit money banks (NDMBs). Secondary data for a period of 5 years (2012-2016) was used. The study model examined the relationship between the independent variables (Accounting conservatism) and the dependent variable (Bank performance), by applying the Advance panel Multiple regression analysis (Panel Corrected Standard Error). The results obtained from this research indicate that there is a significant relationship between accounting conservatism and Bank performance in Nigeria. From the result conditional accounting conservatism (C-ACC) has a positive relationship with Bank performance (ROA) while unconditional accounting conservatism (UC-ACC) is negatively related to Bank performance (ROA). The study concluded that there is a significant relationship between accounting conservatism and bank performance in Nigeria. The study suggest that Managers of NDMBs should use conditional conservatism as a means to manage information asymmetry in their financial reporting strategies. Also it is recommended that accounting standard setters and bank regulators should consider the effects of unconditional accounting conservatism on banks performance when designing rules and regulations for banks.

The major goal of this research was to see how budget assessment affected Nigeria's economic progress. The inspiration stemmed from a number of inconsistencies in the Nigerian economy's budget preparation and execution. This study employed an ex-post-facto design, with data gathered from the Central Bank Statistical Bulletin and the Federal Ministry of Finance for analysis. A model based on empirical and theoretical reviews was developed to attain this wide purpose. The model's dependent variable was the Human Development Index (HDI), while the model's independent variables were the government's capital budget, recurrent budget, and yearly budget implementation rate. To evaluate data, the researchers used the Ordinary Least Squares (OLS) Model. Budget assessment had a favorable and considerable influence on Nigeria's economic progress, according to the inferential findings. According to the report, Nigeria's government should make an effort to raise capital and recurring expenditures in its yearly budget, since both have a substantial influence on economic development. Finally, the government should make an effort to put in place effective budget monitoring and assessment equipment that will increase the rate of budget implementation while simultaneously ensuring strict adherence to due process.
