ABSTRAK Tujuan penelitian  ini untuk mengetahui pengaruh latihan bandul stroke with feeding untuk meningkatkan kemampuan groundstroke dalam permainan tennis. Metode penelitian ini adalah eksperimen dengan uji t-berpasangan. Populasi adalah mahasiswa prodi PKO Unimed, dengan jumlah 81 orang. Kelompok pertama adalah kelompok eksperimen dengan jumlah 40 orang dan kelompok kedua adalah kelas kontrol dengan jumlah 41 orang. Setiap kelompok dirandom untuk memperoleh sample dengan teknik Slovin. Pada kelas eksperimen jumlah sampel adalah 36 orang dan pada kelompok kontrol jumlah sampel adalah 37 orang. Pada kelas ekperimen diberikan perlakuan yaitu latihan bandul stroke with feeding sebanyak 16 kali pertemuan dengan frekuensi latihan tiga kali dalam satu minggu. Sedangkan pada kelas kontrol tetap melakukan latihan seperti apa adanya. Pengukuran kemampuan groundstroke dengan groundstroke tennis tes yang dilakukan dua kali yaitu sebelum diberikan perlakukan dan sesudah diberikan perlakuan. Uji persyaratan analsis yaitu data harus berdistribusi normal dan juga homogen serta pengambilan sampel dari populasi adalah random. Hasil penelitian adalah terdapat pengaruh yang singnifikan dari latihan bandul stroke with feeding terhadap kemampuan groundstroke dalam bermain tennis lapangan. Sedangkan pada kelas kontrol yang tidak diberikan latihan bandul stroke with feeding tidak menujukkan pengaruh yang singnifikan. Sangat disarankan kepada pelatih dan juga instruktur agar memberikan bentuk latihan ini kepada atletnya untuk meningkatkan kemampuan teknik dalam bermain tennis yaitu groundstroke. Kata Kunci:  Latihan Bandul Stroke with Feeding, Groundstroke Tennis ABSTRACT The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of bandul stroke with feeding to improve the groundstroke abilities in tennis. The method is experimental research using paired t-test. The population is PKO – FIK Unimed students, with 81 people for two groups, experiment and control. The first is experimental group with 40 people and the other is control group with 41 people. Each group was randomized with Slovin techniques. 36 students for experimental group and 37 students for control group. The treatment was given for experimental group, namely bandul stroke with feeding. 16 times exercises with the frequency is three times a week. While in the control class, they still do the exercises as they are. Measuring the ability of a groundstroke with a groundstroke tennis test is done twice, before being given treatment and after being given treatment. Test requirements analysis are normally distributed and also homogeneous and sampling from the population is random. The results of this study is there are significant effects of bandul stroke with feeding on groundstroke abilities in playing tennis. Where as in the control group that was not given bandul stroke with feeding with conventional feeding or exercise did not show significant effect. It is strongly recommended for the tennis coach or tennis instructor to give this exercise to tennis athlete for improve their technical ability to play tennis, especially groundstroke. The aim of this study is to discover the effect of applying SQ3R method inreading comprehension. Experimental research design is used as the research method.This research took place at SMA Nasrani 2Medan. There were 2 classes chosen as thesample with 30 students in each class. The classes were divided into two groups namelyexperimental and control group. The experimental group was taught by using SQ3Rmethod and the control group was taught by using conventional method. The instrumentused to collect the data was a set of multiple choice tests, which divided as pre test andpost test. The result of the research was analyzed by using t-test formula. The resultshowed that t-test was higher than t-table (4,23>2,00) at the level of significant 0,05with degree of freedom (df) 58. It means that hypothesis alternative (Ha) is acceptedwhich shows that SQ3R method significantly improves the student’s readingcomprehension.

Objective: To determine the effect of deep breathing exercises on lung volumes and capacities among smokers. Methodology: The participants were divided into a control group and an experimental group. The control group was not given any treatment, while the experimental group performed deep breathing exercise techniques. The experimental group performed exercises for six weeks. After six weeks lung function tests were performed to evaluate the effects. Data were compared at baseline and after the intervention. To check within the group's changes paired sample t-test was used. To check between groups changes independent sample t-test was used for normally distributed data. Results: In the experimental group, significant changes (p ≤ 0.05) were observed after the intervention. While comparing groups, significant differences (p ≤ 0.05) were observed in some variables between experimental and control groups.Conclusion: It was concluded that deep breathing exercises are useful among smokers. As deep breathing helps in improving lung volumes and capacities.

The objective of this study was to investigate whether video significantly affected on students’ achievement in writing procedure text. This study was an experimental research design. The population of this study was grade XI students of SMA Swasta Sinar Harapan Lubuk Pakam with 70 students as samples who were divided into two groups, namely experimental and control group. The experimental group was taught by using video, while the control group was taught by without video. The instrument of collecting data was essay tests. The data were analyzed by using t-test formula. The result of the analysis showed that tvalue is higher than ttable (4.79 > 2.00) at the level of significance 0.05 with the degree of freedom (df) 68. It implies that video is appropriate to be applied for writing procedure text.

This research took place at MTS AMIN DARUSSALAM MEDAN. There were 2 classes chosen as the sample with 32 students in each class. The classes were divided into two groups namely experimental and control group. The experimental group taught by using SQ3R method and the control group was taught by using conventional method. The instrument used to collect the data was a set of multiple choice tests, which divided as pre test and post test. The result of the research was analyzed by using t-test formula. The result showed that t-test was higher than t-table ( 3,93> 2,00 ) at the level of significant 0,05 with degree of freedom (df) 60. It means that hypothesis alternative (Ha) is accepted which shows that SQ3R method significantly improves the student’s reading comprehension.

This study was conducted as an attempt to discover the effect of applying skimming technique on Grade XI students’ reading comprehension. It was an experimental research. The subject was students of Grade XI, Private Senior High School (Sekolah Menengah Atas Swasta: SMA) Methodist-7, which consisted of 60 students. The research was divided into two groups: experimental and control groups. The instrument used to collect the data was reading comprehension test. To obtain the reliability of the test, the writer applied Kuder Richardson 21 formula. The result of the reliability was 0.89. The data were analyzed by using t-test formula. The analyze showed that the scores of the students in the experimental group were significantly higher than the scores of the students in the control group at the level of significance 0.05 with the degree of freedom (df) 60 , t-observed value 3.71 > t-table value 2.00. Based on the reliability of the test, it was found that the test was reliable. The findings indicated that using Skimming Technique significantly affected the students’ reading comprehension. So, English teachers are suggested to use Skimming Technique in order to improve students’ reading comprehension.   Keywords: Skimming Technique, Reading Comprehension, Experimental Research.

This study deals with the investigation of the effect of using Total Physical Response Storytelling on Students’ Speaking Achievement. This study was conducted by using experimental research. The population of the study was the third grade of SMP N 22 Medan. There were seventy two students used as the sample out of the research taken from two classes and they were divided into two groups namely the experimental group and control group. The experimental group was taught by using Total Physical Response Storytelling while the control group taught without using Total Physical Response Storytelling. The instrument of collecting the data was an oral test. To obtain the result of the reliability of the test, the researcher used the Product Moment Formula. The result of the calculation showed that the reliability of the test was 0.63, which means that the reliability of the test is high. The data were analyzed by using t-test formula. The result of the analysis showed that tobserved is exceeded than ttable (3,692 > 1,994) at the level of significance of 0.05 with the degree of freedom (df) 70. The result of this study showed that the students’ speaking achievement taught by using Total Physical Response Storytelling is higher than those who taught without using Total Physical Response Storytelling.

This study deals with the effect of applying PQRST method on students’ reading comprehension. The objective of this study is to find out whether PQRST method significantly effect on students’ reading comprehension or not. This study was conducted by using experimental research design. The population of the study was the students of grade X of SMA Negeri 1 Sidamanik. There were sixty students as the sample of the research. This study conducted with two randomized groups namely experimental and control group. The experimental group was taught by using PQRST method while control group was taught using traditional method. The data of the study were obtain from students’ score of test. To determine the reliability of the test, the writer used the Kuder Richardson formula (KR-21). The result of the study showed that reliability of the test was 0.618. The data were analyzed by using t-test formula, the analysis showed that score students in the experimental group was significantly higher than that of students in the level of control group at the level of significance 0.05 with the degree of freedom (df) 58 the t-observed is 5.333 while t-table is 2.000. It can be concluded that applying PQRST method significantly affects on students’ reading comprehension. It means that the hypothesis is accepted.

This study dealt with the effect of applying Think Talk Write strategy on students’ achievement in writing spoof text. It was an experimental research. The subject was social students of Grade XI, SMA Negeri 17 Medan, which consisted of 113 students. The research was divided into two groups: experimental and control groups. The instrument to collect the data was writing test. The result of the reliability was 0.70, and the test was reliable. The data were analyzed by using t-test formula. The analysis showed the scores of the students in the experimental group were higher than in the control group at the level of significant=0.05 with the degree of freedom (df) 72,t-observed 4.871> t-table 1.994. The findings indicate that applying Think Talk Write strategy significantly affected the students’ achievement in writing spoof text. English teachers are suggested using Think Talk Write strategy in order to improve students’ achievement in writing.

The objective of this research was to find out whether or not it was significantly difference achievement between the tenth grade students of MA Negeri 1 (Model) Lubuklinggau who were taught speaking by using Hand and Glove Puppets and those who were not taught speaking by using Hand and Glove Puppets. The researcher used quasi-experimental research. The sample of this research was taken by using cluster random sampling with 30 students in the experimental group, and 30 students in the control group taken from two classes of the tenth grade students of MA Negeri 1 (Model) Lubuklinggau. Based on the result of the data analysis there were three major findings namely: (1) the students’ score in the pre-test, (2) the students’ score in the post-test, and (3) the result of paired T-Test calculation. The mean score in the pre-test of the Experimental group was 63.88 and the mean score in the pre-test of the Control group was 49.77. While, the mean score in the post-test of the Experimental group was 72.44 and the mean score in the post-test of the Control group was 56.21 The result of paired t-test calculation shows that tobtained was 7.70 in the pre-test of the experimental and control group and 8.91 in the post-test of the experimental and control group. It was higher than 2.045 as the critical value of the ttable of degree of freedom 29 with 0.05 significant level for two-tailed test. So, the null hypotheses was rejected and the alternative hypotheses was accepted. It meant that it was effective to teaching speaking by using Hand and Glove Puppets to the tenth grade students of MA Negeri 1 (Model) Lubuklinggau.

The objectives of the research were to find out the significant effect of Using Scrabble Media which was focused on vocabulary Achievement. The research design in this research was quantitative experimental research. This research was conducted at SMP Negeri 24 Medan in academic years 2017/2018. The population of this research was in the seventh grade students which consisted of eight classes namely: Class VII-A, VII-B, VII-C, VII-D, VII-E, VII-F, VII-G and VII-H. The total numbers of population were 288 students. The research classes were divided into two classes, Experimental Class (36 students) and Control Class (36 students).The technique used was purposive sampling to determine the experimental and control group. The sample were divided into two groups, the first group VII-H which consisted of 36 students was Experimental group which was given treatment by Using Scrabble Media and second group VII-F which consisted of 36 students was Control group which was given treatment by using Conventional Method. Each group was given a pre-test, treatment and post-test. The t-test was 15,71 and the t-table was 1.68 and 0.05 was as the significant level of this research. Because the t-test value was higher than t-table (15,71 > 1.68). It showed that the result in t-test was accepted (Ha). Based on the result of this research, it could be concluded that there was significant effect of Using Scrabble Media on the Students’ Achievement in vocabulary
