A descriptive analysis of the Andalusian hotel trade is carried out in this paper, on the basis of its different socio-demographical variables. Subsequently, and because of the increasing importance of employees' attitudes in the service sector organizations, the employees' degree of commitment and its correlation with their degree of satisfaction with some job facets have been analysed. The results have shown that, even though these organizations are characterized by young personnel, with a high percentage of temporary contracts and low wages, there is an outstanding high degree of organizational commitment within their staff.

Changes in the teaching methodology of an undergraduate psychology course are described. The goals were to increase student responsibility for and participation in the course and to promote critical thinking systematically. Responsibility was increased by having students write their own essay questions for exams. Active participation during class meetings was encouraged by using the technique of Socratic dialogue. Critical thinking was promoted by utilizing Bloom's taxonomy. Student responses on course evaluation forms indicated a high degree of satisfaction with these methods.

Objective. To evaluate a 3-year experience with the Objective Structured Clinical Examinations (OSCEs) and to compare faculty expectations with resident performance. Design. Descriptive analysis of measures of resident performance. Setting. Community-based pediatric residency program in Michigan. Participants. One hundred twenty-six pediatric residents at all levels of training. Methods. The three examinations consisted of 36 to 42 5-minute stations, testing skills in physical examination, history, counseling, telephone management, and test interpretation. A committee of faculty and chief residents predetermined minimum pass levels for each resident level. Results were compared with other indices of resident performance. Results. There was evidence for content, construct, and concurrent validity, as well as a high degree of reliability. However, 40% to 96% of residents scored below the minimum pass levels for their levels. In each examination, third-year residents had the highest failure rates, yet they scored well on the American Board of Pediatrics in-training examination and on their monthly clinical evaluations. Furthermore, for residents at all levels, the scores reflecting application of data were significantly lower than those assessing data gathering. Conclusions. The gaps between expectations and performance, and between data gathering and application, have important implications for institutional educational philosophy, suggesting a shift toward more clinically oriented and learner-directed strategies in the design of instructional and evaluation methods.

Sharia compliance is the adherence of Islamic banks to Islamic rules or laws in muamalah and is one of the factors that differentiate it from conventional banks. Therefore sharia compliance is a fundamental principle in Islamic banking practices. Muamalah law, especially the economy, has a high degree of difference, so the sharia compliance standards in Indonesia refer to the Fatwa of the National Sharia Council-Indonesian Ulama Council (DSN-MUI). This study aims to analyze the practice of sharia compliance in Islamic Rural Banks (BPRS) in Indonesia. The data analyzed is the assessment of the Sharia Supervisory Board (DPS) on the practice of BPRS for five years. The sample distribution covers all regions of Indonesia with 24 units of analysi with 46 respondenss. The data analysis used quantitative descriptive analysis and compared it with the DSN-MUI fatwa. This study's results indicate that the level of compliance with Islamic rural banks in Indonesia is, on average, excellent. Other findings show that, when viewed from the contract's practice, financing with a musyarakah contract has the highest level of sharia compliance compared to separate agreements. Meanwhile, the lowest sharia compliance is in the murabahah contract. This condition is influenced because Islamic banks often use the murabahah bil wakalah contract. The weakness of this contract lies in the procurement of goods by customers, often not accompanied by proof of purchase.
