The results of a microbiological and PCR survey of patients with Behcet’s disease, as well as the results of intravenous laser irradiation of the blood (ILIB) are presented. According to the authors, the clinical picture of the disease was represented by the presence of single and multiple repeatedly recurring erosive and ulcerative defects in the area of the oral mucosa (cheek area and lateral surface of the tongue) and/or external genitalia. 4 patients noted soreness in the area of rashes, in 2 rashes were accompanied by a rise in temperature and the symptoms of malaise, weakness. Signs of catarrhal conjunctivitis and uveitis were present in 3 patients, while there was no reduction in visual acuity in the course of the disease. 3 patients had pain in large joints without visible changes on the radiograph and an increase in ESR up to 18-24 mm/h. As a result of the complex therapy with antibacterial, antiprotozoal, antiviral, antifungal therapy depending on the detected pathogen, as well as procedures of ILIB, the resorption of the infiltration zone was noted on the 10-11th day of treatment. Ulcerative elements began to epithelize. Erythema, feelings of burning and pain were absent.

The article presents the results of the parameters of the lipid peroxidation system and antioxidant protection against the background of complex therapy in children with oral mucosa inflammatory diseases using Laser irradiation of blood and Lizak. Studies have shown that the treatment leads to a decrease in the toxic action of peroxide radicals.

Aim. Study the effectiveness of oral mucositis (OM) prevention by the stimulation of white cells phagocytic activity and activation of endogenous keratinocyte growth factor production by laser blood irradiation method (LBI). Materials and methods. This study covers 44 patients with malignant tumors. 29 patients have already passed the high-dose polychemotherapy complicated by OM development. 15 patients have not passed the high-dose polychemotherapy yet before this admission. In the study we applied the method of identification of the white cells phagocytic activity state using the test sheet of latex microparticles. The study was performed before high-dose polychemotherapy, after LBI and after chemotherapy. Blood exposure to laser irradiation was made by placing the emitter on skin above the large vessels: areas of carotid arteries and veins, cubital, subclavian or popliteal. Results. LBI technique was used in 92 courses of high-dose polychemotherapy. Stimulation of phagocytes by LBI method showed that application of this method before chemotherapy leads to the positive result in all cases. All children (n=44), that were subject to white cells phagocytic activity stimulation, had not OM. Conclusion. Blood test for white cells phagocytic activity gives a chance to determine the actual readiness of the body to resist infections. If it was impossible to predict oral mucositis development before, now implementation of white cells phagocytic activity determination method improves the effectiveness of such prognosis. Thus, first in the world, all results that we obtained became possible only due to implementation of the white cells phagocytic activity test and stimulation of the white cells phagocytic activity and activation of the endogenous keratinocyte growth factor production by laser blood irradiation method.

The article presents the results of an evaluation of the comparative efficacy of treatment for 198 patients with chronic diffuse liver diseases, which show that transcranial electrostimulation is generally comparable in effectiveness with the method of intravenous laser irradiation of blood, differing in non-invasiveness and lower cost.

Maximal visual acuity and normal color vision are closely associated with foveal receptor function. When the fovea is destroyed or altered by intense laser irradiation, severe and sometimes permanent losses in visual acuity ensue. In this paper we have shown that the threshold for long-term functional alterations in the fovea is determined not only by the wavelength and corneal exposure power of a laser flash but also by the types of performance criteria used to assess visual functioning. Chromatic acuity provides a much lower threshold for permanent alterations (Krypton — 6 mW; Argon — 3 mW) as opposed to achromatic targets (HeNe — 11 mW). Further, the use of chromatic acuity to assess post-exposure functioning can more accurately delineate the specific cone process most affected by the exposing source. The data from these studies also suggest that some relatively long-term (24 h) cumulative process within the retina is occurring which obviously will affect any threshold value determined.

Purpose. Efficacy of cultivated oral mucosa epithelial transplantation (COMET) procedure in corneal epithelium restoration of aniridia patients.Methods. Study subjects were aniridia patients (13 patients; 17 eyes) with irregular, vascular conjunctival pannus involving visual axis who underwent autologous transplantation of cultivated epithelium. For the procedure oral mucosa epithelial cells were obtained from buccal mucosa with further enzymatic treatment. Suspension of single cells was seeded on previously prepared denuded amniotic membrane. Cultures were carried on culture dishes inserts in the presence of the inactivated with Mitomycin C monolayer of 3T3 fibroblasts. Cultures were carried for seven days. Stratified oral mucosa epithelium with its amniotic membrane carrier was transplanted on the surgically denuded corneal surface of aniridia patients with total or subtotal limbal stem cell deficiency.Outcome Measures. Corneal surface, epithelial regularity, and visual acuity improvement were evaluated.Results. At the end of the observation period, 76.4% of the eyes had regular transparent epithelium and 23.5% had developed epithelial defects or central corneal haze; in 88.2% of cases visual acuity had increased. VA range was from HM 0.05 before the surgery to HM up to 0.1 after surgery.Conclusion. Application of cultivated oral mucosa epithelium restores regular epithelium on the corneal surface with moderate improvement in quality of vision.
