The article reveals problems and weaknesses of social pedagogical assistance provided to pupils with emotional and behavioural disorders (EBD) and provides insights into the development of social and educational support at schools. The qualitative research (focus group and interviews), in which there participated social workers and teachers (two groups of informants), has been conducted. The content analysis of the research findings has revealed the major weaknesses of assistance provided to pupils with EBD and its improvement areas: lack of professionals providing necessary help at schools, lack of teachers' special professional competences (the ability to recognize EBD problems, knowledge and skills of providing assistance), lack of cooperation between child assistance specialists, teachers, and parents (feedback problems), and a lack of motivation.

Pre-competition warm-up has mostly been examined physically in the literature, focusing on its effect on performance and protection from injuries. However, there is a lack of studies regarding the psychological influences of warm-up. Therefore, in this study it was aimed to explore the psychological reflections of pre-competition warm-up in terms of motivational process and outcomes. The research was designed in qualitative research, and phenomenology was employed. Participants were 10 international wrestlers whose age differentiated between 20 and 25 years. They have a sports career ranging from 8 to 12 years. The data were collected via focus group interviews and analyzed via content analysis. Results showed that wrestlers need pre-competition warm-up as they perceive it improves their performance and protects them from injuries. However, perception of the opponent as stronger or weaker, guides whether the warm-up is needed or not. In addition, pre-competition warm-up motivates wrestlers through stimulating, goal-directing (e.g., adaptation, concentration, awareness), and encouraging them to the competition. In conclusion, pre-competition warm-up not only physically prepares athletes for the competition, but also prepares them psychologically with its motivating influences.

Previous reviews of research have documented the increasing use of qualitative inquiry in physical education. In this research note, the authors present a content analysis of qualitative research articles published between 1998 and 2008 in the Journal of Teaching in Physical Education (JTPE). A total of 110 empirical articles were published that included a qualitative component, 38.2% of those used mixed methods. Results include analyses of types of qualitative research, research focus, theoretical frameworks, data collection techniques, trustworthiness techniques, and participants. The Research Authorship Score revealed that qualitative research tends to rely on teams of researchers in the conduct of studies. By extending previous work, this study reveals that qualitative research continues to play a significant role in research on physical education.

Sustainability of society demands diversified and balanced development of one’s personality with morality-based quality of knowledge and skills. This can be achieved by respecting the mission of education, namely, to facilitate integrity of social and personal competencies. The goal of the study is to highlight the understanding of teachers and parents about ethical views and moral competency of the young people. The article reveals views of teenagers about values of people and life, about human beings and their obligations. The study combined the quantitative and qualitative research methods, and included content analysis of research documents, surveys and data of pedagogical observations. Moral opinions expressed by the students in the framework of the study reveal that their views on human beings, their obligations towards themselves and society are superficial and declarative. Knowledge about morality and values is notional; therefore, it does not act as motivation for civic action. Moral competency, which is based on relativism, is not complete.

Jahangir succeeded his father, Akbar after the latter stabilised Mughal rule in India. Although there are arguments that Jahangir did not achieve successes like his father, there were some endeavours by Jahangir which strengthened the continuity of Mughal rule. Hence, the purpose of this article is to examine his efforts to consolidate Mughal rule in India in his time. On the whole, this is a qualitative research using the methods of historical study and content analysis. Data was collected from primary and secondary sources and analysed. Research findings show that Jahangir was more focused on domestic development such as proclaiming Dustur al-Amal for administration. He also succeeded in putting down rebellions and developed culture and arts, including architecture. His own personality as a leader inclined him to be a patron of the arts, intellectual and cultural activities, as well as a believer of legal principles for social justice. Akbars policy of expanding territories was not Jahangirs priority because he gave more attention to managing the crises of rebellion in Mughal territory.

AbstractThe quality evaluation in research findings, both of quantitative and qualitative, needs a demonstrated trustworthiness and rigorist. Traditionally, validity and reliability evaluating in quantitative research focus on standardized data collection instruments. However, the validity and reliability in qualitative research, is still a questionable issue, especially when asking about scientific findings of the work. Moreover, both of the validity and reliability describe operational techniques supporting the rigor of the work: credibility, dependability, conformability, and transferability.

This research aims to map out types of bilingual signboards found in Elementary and Secondary schools in Surakarta based on their functions, to assess their quality in terms of accuracy and acceptability, and to describe factors influencing the translation quality. This descriptive qualitative research used data sources in the form of documents and persons, i.e. bilingual signboards displayed on school walls and those called raters who have competencies in assessing translation quality. Content analysis, Interview, and Focus Group Discussion were applied as the methods to collect and analyze the data of bilingual signboards. As a result, there are three types of school signboard, namely signboards showing names of place, signboards showing the condition of a particular place, and those saying proverbs. Dealing with the function, signboards having informative, suggestive, restrictive and mandatory functions are identified. The majority of the data resulting accurate and less acceptable translation is found in universal signboards, while culture-bound signboards tend to be rendered less accurate and less acceptable due to some factors that can be read thoroughly in this article.

This research aimed to analyze the translation techniques used by the subtitler to translate modality orientation and the impact of the translation techniques on the modality orientation shifts in “The Jungle Book” movie subtitle. This research was a descriptive qualitative research. The data in this research were words, phrases, and clauses as the marker of modality orientation in the movie, and translation techniques used by the subtitler. Modality orientation was obtained through content analysis based on Systemic Functional Linguistics (SFL) theory as proposed by Halliday and Matthiessen (2014). Then, translation techniques were obtained through Focus Group Discussion (FGD) as proposed by Molina and Albir (2002). The findings show that the subtitler uses seven techniques to translate modality orientation. They have established equivalence, modulation, discursive creation with established equivalence, deletion, transposition, discursive creation, and reduction with established equivalence. The subtitler uses established equivalence to translate orientation that produces same category, value, form, and orientation. Deletion technique, modulation, and creation discursive with established equivalence cause the loss of modality in the target language. Applying modulation, transposition, discursive creation, and reduction with established equivalence techniques make a shift on the modality orientation and also produce different meaning in the target language. The change of value in modality in the target language is caused by the use of modulation and reduction with established equivalence technique by the subtitler.

- In this paper we discuss the results of a research program that was aimed at analysing of the situational context in which the interpersonal exchange has place the role in mediating the passage from the reception to the "use" of mass-media preventive information. The study consisted in 32 focus groups with young people (18-25 years old), on different topics related to health risks (HIV/AIDS, Alcool, smoking, light drugs), in 4 different situational contexts (face-to-face; on-line forum; on-line chat; on-line forum+chat). The study main evidences show that the different contexts of the exchange specifically influence the interpersonal "re-use" of mass-media preventive information. In particular the forum+chat seems to be the context that best orients the preventive message elaboration in the sense of a personal revision of one own's unsafe practices.Key words: health communication; social exchange; context of the exchange; Internet; qualitative research; focus groupParole chiave: comunicazione alla salute; scambio sociale; contesto di scambio; Internet; ricerca qualitativa; focus group
