The paper presents a study (mostly of a quality design) aimed at the teacher-pupil interaction performed at the Institute of Special Education Studies, Palacky University in Olomouc. The data was collected by semi-structured interviews, observation of the educational process and a questionnaire survey. Open, axial and selective coding as well as logic analysis of the responses was used for the data analyses. A synthesis of various data as well as various theoretical backgrounds led to the development of a model for the description of the relationship between the teacher and the pupil with severe mental, physical and communicational disability. The paper includes a description of the categories of this model and their process-based classification into inputs, course and outputs.

<p><em>This paper focuses on several aspects of the relationship between families of students with multiple disabilities and the educational process. Quality-based methodology was used for the research due to a lack of sufficient theoretical background in this area. The objective of the paper was to elucidate the significance of education of students with multiple disabilities for their families and to describe the process of cooperation between these families and the teachers. This paper uses data and outputs from a qualitative analysis of education of students with severe multiple disabilities (semi-structured interviews with 45 teachers of students with multiple disabilities, observation of 4 students in the educational process and an analysis of 30 samples of educational documents using open, axial and selective coding). The resulting theory was combined with the results of a survey focused on the cooperation between the families and the teachers in order to gain a saturated data sample. This survey used semi-structured interviews with 5 teachers of students with multiple disabilities. The data from these interviews were analysed by means of open coding, compared with the outputs of the previous research and a theoretical model for educational intervention with the families of students with multiple disabilities was constructed and described. This model offers ideas for educational practice as well as further research.</em></p>

In light of the paucity of evidence on mothers’ involvement in expressive and creative therapy for adolescents with learning disabilities (LD) studying at special education schools, the current study examined mothers’ perceptions of their involvement in the therapy and of the relationship with the therapist. The sample comprised 18 mothers to adolescents with LD who were in therapy for at least one year. Data was collected via semi-structured interviews. The findings indicated several therapeutic issues as well as the special encounter that occurs between the therapeutic and educational domain. The discussion presents three main styles of maternal involvement. The theoretical implications of the results and their practical implications for expressive and creative therapy within schools are discussed.

This study determines the pattern of language choice in six domains among the Thai-Sikh people of Bangkok. The relationship between the patterns of language choice and various social variables are also examined. Data from a questionnaire survey of 40 participants from the Thai-Sikh community residing in a Thai-Sikh residential neighborhood was collected along with semi-structured interviews of 1-2 representatives of each age group. The data was analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics. The results indicate that Thai is most commonly used in four out of the six domains; namely, family, friend, work, and market. English is most commonly used in the school domain and Punjabi in the temple domain. A significant relationship is observed between the patterns of language choice and 3 other variables including gender, age, and educational level.

This article aims to discuss Formative Assessment as a relevant tool for the enhancement of teaching-learning from the perspective of a teacher and 10 (ten) students of a fourth year class of the Integrated Modality of the Federal Institute of Bahia campus Vitória da Conquest. Based on authors such as Perrenoud (1999), Luckesi (2005) and Guerra (2017) we conducted a qualitative exploratory research, with data production based on objective questionnaires and semi-structured interviews. We could perceive through the analysis of the data produced that Formative Assessment enhances teaching-learning and promotes the improvement of teaching practice, generating a collaborative learning environment, through the interaction between teachers and students, even improving the relationship between all involved in the educational process.

Abstract. To advance knowledge of the mechanisms underlying the relationship between leadership and employees’ well-being, this study examines leaders’ effects on their employees’ compensatory coping efforts. Using an extension of the job demands–resources model, we propose that high-quality leader–member exchange (LMX) allows employees to cope with high job demands without increasing their effort expenditure through the extension of working hours. Data analyses ( N = 356) revealed that LMX buffers the effect of quantitative demands on the extension of working hours such that the indirect effect of quantitative demands on emotional exhaustion is only significant at low and average levels of LMX. This study indicates that integrating leadership with employees’ coping efforts into a unifying model contributes to understanding how leadership is related to employees’ well-being. The notion that leaders can affect their employees’ use of compensatory coping efforts that detract from well-being offers promising approaches to the promotion of workplace health.

In the article prepared in connection with the discussion on the use of the Marxist political economy heritage and the revival of a special seminar on Marx’s “Capital”, the author shows the dialectic of the relationship between the content and the transformed forms of the modern capitalist system; the potential of “Capital” to understand the content of the modern economy, and the potential of economics to understand its forms. On this basis, the author shows which questions of our time are answered by Marxist methodology and theory, and which are not, and concludes that Marxist political economy has significant methodological potential to become an important component of the scientific and educational process in current conditions.

Abstract This four-part series of papers addresses the problem of systematic determination of the influence of several tire factors on tire treadwear. Both the main effect of each factor and some of their interactive effects are included. The program was also structured to evaluate the influence of some external-to-tire conditions on the relationship of tire factors to treadwear. Part I describes the experimental design used to evaluate the effects on treadwear of generic tire type, aspect ratio, tread pattern (groove or void level), type of pattern (straight rib or block), and tread compound. Construction procedures and precautions used to obtain a valid and functional test method are included. Two guiding principles to be used in the data analyses of Parts II and III are discussed. These are the fractional groove and void concept, to characterize tread pattern geometry, and a demonstration of the equivalence of wear rate for identical compounds on whole tread or multi-section tread tires.

In the article, the authors consider the strategic changes in the students’ educational process from the perspective of the development of professional integral methodological competencies among teachers in basic school. A special emphasis is placed on the description of the technology for the development of the integral methodological competencies in special education teachers who train children with intellectual disabilities in basic school.

The relevance of the article is determined by the existence of contradictions between the need to introduce innovative technologies into the educational process at school, as an integral attribute of modern education, and the negative influence of factors on the physical and psycho-emotional state of health of students related to the use of information and communication tools (computers, phones, headphones). The goal of the study was to assess the relationship between the timing of the use of information and communication tools and the frequency of functional and psycho-emotional complaints in groups of middle and high school schoolchildren. 400 schoolchildren of the Saratov Region, the Moscow Region, Leningrad Region and the Republic of Dagestan were surveyed, who made up two groups of research: middle-school schoolchildren (grades 5–6) and high-school schoolchildren (grades 10–11 The survey was carried out by means of the standardized formalized cards which included the questions considering usage time of computers and mobile phones, complaints to a headache, hands pain, other pain and/or feeling of discomfort from visual organ and the organs of hearing, as well as a psycho-emotional state. Statistical analysis of the data was performed using the STATISTICA application software program by StatSoft Inc (USA). To compare the frequencies of a binary feature, a fourfold table of absolute frequencies was constructed and the level of statistical significance for the exact Fisher’s two-tailed test criterion was determined. The study was conducted according to the requirements of bioethics, after signing informed consent statement by teenagers and their parents. The study examined the relationship between the timing of the use of information and communication tools and the frequency of complaints in groups of schoolchildren. The results of the study should be taken into account when developing and implementing preventive measures to prevent negative effects of computers and mobile devices on the body of students.
