The existence of leakage in the urban water supply network can be considered one of the main challenges in the country’s water industry. The purpose of this study is a comparative comparison of water leakage management patterns in Tokyo and Tehran. In this study, the existing documents in the field of water leakage management in both cities were collected, classified, and evaluated. A comparison at the level of preventive measures showed that the city of Tokyo has a conceptual model (with an effective water ratio of more than 98%) with «corrective» subdivisions including old network management and providing solutions for maintenance and repair of the current network and also subdivisions including «technology development» and «education.» However, in Tehran, due to financial constraints, the preventive approach (PM11) is entirely passive, and emergency maintenance (EM2) units usually enter into operation after the incident. Operational comparisons showed that the Tokyo Water Leakage Control System consists of two main parts: “continuous monitoring” and “measures commensurate with the type of challenge” and is based on strategic policies. In Tehran, the movement towards using new technologies to control leakage in urban water supply networks has been significant; However, these measures are not based on a plan and have created unbalanced growth in this regard.

Currently, data communications used in the monitoring and scheduling system of urban water supply network can be simply divided into wireless and wired. While the wireless data communications with network flexibility, less investment, easy maintenance, cost-effective advantages. Therefore, the wireless data communications has become a major data transmission in urban water supply scheduling. The wireless transmission of state parameters in urban water supply pipe network was studied in this paper. This paper presents a wireless monitoring and scheduling scheme based on the short message transmission technology in urban water supply network. It introduced the hardware components of the system, and wireless data transmission software.

Nowadays, the demand of people for urban water supply security is increasing. Meanwhile, the scale of water supply system is expanding and the topology is being more and more complicated. Aiming at these problems above, the technology of simulation modling and software development for urban water supply network is researched in this article. First of all, through studying the parameter testing technique, the load and change law of water consumption, the pressure distribution law, and the actual conveyance capacity of main pipes of the whole water supply network are accurately mastered. Correspondingly, the simulation database is built. On this basis, aiming at scientific operation and water quality protection, taking opening territorial water supply network of one city for example, the microscopic hydraulic model of water supply network of this area is built, meanwhile, the simulation analysis platform is developed, with the application of on-line monitoring technology. The platform which has well expansibility and utility has been applied to water supply network of an urban city.
