Scientific literacy as a goal of education for sustainable development focuses attention to development of learning, inquiry, and “transfer” skills to enable young people to be able to use the aquired knowledge an skills in everyday and professional activities. This means that student must apply knowledge and skills from some to the new situation, from one area to another, not directly, but generalised, seeing similarity or analogy between them. Analogical reasoning is a central cognitive ability that is used in our everyday lives, in research, teaching and learning. The study analized usage of analogies in physics textbooks for Basic and High School in Latvia. Seven physics textbooks are examined by using the descriptive analysis method. The usage of analogies were analysed to discuss on their effectiveness for a deeper acquisition of science concepts and phenomena, for developing students’ reasoning, meaning making, and transfer skills during teaching physics.

A particularly important aspect of learning physics is using models of physical objects, processes and phenomena. Modeling is an important component of learning and cognitive activity. This determines its importance for the formation and development of students’ knowledge and skills. The Physics Education Technology (PhET) project creates useful simulations for teaching and learning physics and makes them freely available on the PhET web site: http://phet.colorado.edu The simulations are interactive, animated and visual. Some ideas for their using in physics education are presented. They can be used in various of ways, including demonstration experiment as part of lecture, student group work or individual worksheets, homework assignments or labs. The possibility for using simulations in remote education is considered. Students are given interactive assignments. They include interactive problems in the form of computer simulation and questions related to it. The students work with data which they analyze and present tabular and graphically. This approach suggest activities based on enquiry. In result their motivation and interest in physics increases.

Socratic method is one of the 21st century methods of teaching that used questions technique and discussion. Therefore, the purpose of this research was conducted to examine the understanding and skills of Socratic Methods approach, determining significant differences between knowledge and skills in Socratic approach by gender, age, academic background and locations, and examine the relations between understanding and skills of socratic methods among Islamic Education teachers. The methods used was survey design which includes giving questionnaires to 180 Islamic Education Teachers in a district in Selangor. The result from descriptive analysis shows that the mean for both understanding and skills is high among Islamic education teachers. The result from inference analysis shows that there is no significant differences between understanding and skills by gender, age, academic background and location among Islamic education teachers. It also shows that there is an average relation between understanding and skills among Islamic Education teachers. Henceforth, the researcher hopes that the research will bring a significant impact in order to produce a conducive teaching and learning towards 21st Century Education. Abstract: Currently, there is a considerable increase in research of the methodological nature "state of knowledge" or "state of the art", in order to research and disseminate how recent studies have been doing. Thus, there are several works that permeate the strategies for improving the teaching and learning of Sciences (physics, chemistry, mathematics and biology). This article aimed to investigate and describe how the investigative method has been used in teaching physics and the topics already addressed, given that it is a primary method for the promotion of scientific literacy. Mediated by searching with three descriptors, selecting complete published works using filters in the Google Scholar and SciELO database, with a time frame of the last five years (2013-1018). Thus, 10 articles, 02 dissertations and 01 thesis that permeates investigative teaching were analyzed. Therefore, showing a low amount of research that permeates this area of knowledge. Keywords: State of the Art; Physics teaching; Physics teaching research; EnCI.

This study is a need analysis of the development of sketch module for secondary D&T students. This study is in a form of a survey using questionnaire as a research instrument. A total of 287 teachers were involved in the study sample. The study sample was randomly selected. The data were analyzed using a descriptive analysis to meet the objectives of the study. The findings show that teachers are facing difficulties in implementing D&T teaching in schools. The majority of teaching teachers consist of non-option D&T teachers, lack of D&T knowledge and skills, intensive course requirements, less teaching aids and less conducive workshops. Students found that it was difficult to master topics that the teachers teach, especially the topic of sketching. The majority of teachers agree that the topic of sketching ought to be developed in a way to enhance students understanding, and along with helping the less skilled teachers. The implication of the study is that this module can be used by D&T teachers and students as a reference to improve the teaching and learning to become more effective.
