Aim. The article deals with the analysis of the psychophysiological status and its correlations with the features of viability in experts working in extreme and challenging conditions. This is both relevant and essential for justifying the author’s approach to a bio, -psycho, - social model of viability. Materials and methods. 764 male participants working in extreme conditions were examined (military aircraft personnel, civil air traffic controllers, Navy men, firefighters, etc.). The following methods were used for the study: the simple and complex eye-motor response test, the S-test, the burnout assessment based on the Boyko’s method, and a subjective assessment of professional load. The results obtained were processed with Spearman correlation analysis. Results. Based on the results of correlation analysis, significant correlations were revealed between the psychophysiological features of participants and a subjective assessment of extreme load being the component of professional viability. It was established that the functional status of the subjects involved in extreme activities affected negatively their subjective assessment of professional load producing an increase in stress. At the same time, the speed of mental operations and visual perception abilities decreased. Conclusion. The efficient application of psychophysiological reserves while preserving speed and reliability determines constructive professional genesis and is connected with the parameters of viability such as anxiety, depression, inadequate selective emotional response, disorientation, and the reduction of professional responsibilities.

Publications of research concerning continuous emotional responses to music are increasing. The developing interest brings with it a need to understand the problems associated with the analysis of time series data. This article investigates growing concern in the use of conventional Pearson correlations for comparing time series data. Using continuous data collected in response to selected pieces of music, with two emotional dimensions for each piece, two falsification studies were conducted. The first study consisted of a factor analysis of the individual responses using the original data set and its first-order differenced transformation. The differenced data aligned according to theoretical constraints better than the untransformed data, supporting the use of first-order difference transformations. Using a similar method, the second study specifically investigated the relationship between Pearson correlations, difference transformations and the critical correlation coefficient above which the conventional correlation analysis remains internally valid. A falsification table was formulated and quantified through a hypothesis index function. The study revealed that correlations of undifferenced data must be greater than 0.75 for a valid interpretation of the relationship between bivariate emotional response time series data. First and second-order transformations were also investigated and found to be valid for correlation coefficients as low as 0.24. Of the three version of the data (untransformed, first-order differenced, and second-order differenced), first-order differenced data produced the fewest problems with serial correlation, whilst remaining a simple and meaningful transformation.

Abstract Objective: The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of COVID-19 pandemic on anxiety depression and intention to go to hospital in chronic patients. Methods: The Bostan Intention to Go to Hospital Scale developed by one researcher (SB) as the data collection tool and the Beck Anxiety-Depression Inventories were used. Results: 56.8% of the patients stated that they would go to the hospital in case of emergency and 28.3% expressed that they did not want to go to the hospital even in this case. 50% of the patients said that they did not want to go to the hospital under any circumstances during the pandemic process. As a result of the correlation analysis, there were inverse correlation between the anxiety-depression levels and encountering COVID patient and having a relative with COVID (p=0.001). Inverse correlation was found between intention to go to hospital and encountering COVID patient (p=0.001).Conclusion: It was revealed that chronic patients did not have any intentions to go to hospital during the COVID-19 pandemia and only half of people were willing to go to hospital in case of emergency. Anxiety and depression levels were found to increase when COVID patient was encountered or a relative had COVID.

CTS is the most common compression neuropathy with an incidence of 125-515/100 000. It is a result of compression of the median nerve by the transverse carpal ligament. It is observed in 2 to 5% of the general population, more frequently in women. In the last few years the scientific society has acknowledged the Boston Carpal Tunnel Syndrome Questionnaire (BCTQ) and more and more frequently it is being used as a standard in CTS patients. The literature also contains numerous studies on the diagnostics and treatment of CTS using BCTQ.Aim of study. To investigate the effect of a complex of physical factors on the reverse development of symptoms of moderate carpal tunnel syndrome using BCTQ and to compare the results of the BCTQ subjective rating (SSS) (symptom severity scale) and function − FSS (functional status scale) with objective assessment measured by the ENG parameters of n. medianus Materials and methods. 57 patients with mild to moderate degree of carpal tunnel syndrome clinically proven by electroneurographic study were examined. 38.60% of the patients were with right hand affected, 9 patients (15.80%) with left hand affected and 26 patients (45.60%) with bilateral involvement (n=26), In the last group, we examined both hands, i.e. 57 patients and 82 hands were investigated.Based on the analysis of our own studies, we applied the following complex physiotherapeutic program to the patients involved in the study: ultrasound, electrophoresis with Nivalin (Galantamine), and traditional kinesitherapy program. Results and discussion. By analyzing the results of the symptom severity assessment of the first part of the questionnaire we find that subjective complaints of patients decreased statistically significantly at the end of physiotherapy course from an average of 2.67 before treatment to 2.21 at the end of FTP (p <0.01). This trend continues within 1 − 4 months after the end of physiotherapy − average 1.79 and maintains up to 4 − 8 months when the mean of the results is 1.69 (p <0.001). We found that with regard to the recovery of the function of the affected hand and the way it affects some of the activities of daily living, the results of the second part of the BCTQ - functional status scale - show a statistically significant improvement at the end of the physiotherapy course 1.91 to an average of 1.63 (p <0.001), with a tendency for long-term retention and a slight decrease in the average of the results obtained to 1.37 within the first control examination at 1-4 months (p <0.001) and resistance to this trend in the following months (4-8) − 1.31 (p <0.001).Based on the ANOVA analysis and the calculation of the η coefficient, we proved that there is no significant difference in the results obtained from the Boston questionnaire and those from the ENG examination. There is a high percentage of overlap - from 53.10% to 95.60%.Although the results of the questionnaire are based on the subjective assessment of the patient, there is a high percentage of overlap with those of the objective study (ENG), which is a prerequisite for assuming that the questionnaire is highly reliable and valid and can be used as a tool for evaluating and analyzing a number of CТ C studies, which is in line with Leite's findings that the Boston Questionnaire is highly reliable and can replace any other non-standard methods for assessing CTS severityConclusions. In the presented facts of the discussion impression makes the patient's influence both on the subjective complaints and the clinical symptoms as well as on the degree of restoration of the affected hand functions at the end of the physiotherapy course, the continuation of this trend up to 4 months after the end of the treatment and maintaining it for 4 to 8 months.Although the results of BCTQ are based on the subjective assessment of the patient, there is a high percentage of overlap with those of the objective study (ENG), which is a prerequisite for assuming that the questionnaire is highly reliable and valid and can be used as a tool for evaluating and analyzing a number of carpal tunnel studies, which is in line with Leite's findings that the Boston Questionnaire is highly reliable and can replace any other non-standard methods for assessing CTS severity

Self-compassion is a raising construct in the field of positive psychology. Evidence supported that self-compassion is an important factor in increasing psychological well-being and reducing symptoms of anxiety, depression and rumination. In the present study, authors determined the psychometric properties of the Bangla version of Self-Compassion Scale (SCS). The study was carried out in a sample of 160 adults, ranging from 18 to 28 years old. Although the original scale has 26 items, in item-total correlation analysis it was found that 24 items in the questionnaire were significantly correlated with total items, the rest two items consumed negative/low correlation (below 0.30). So, these two items were excluded from the Bangla version and 24 items were selected for the final version of the SCS. The internal consistency of the SCS was computed by Cronbach’s Alpha which was 0.83 and the split-half coefficient of the scale was 0.84. Thus the results support the Bangla SCS is suitable for use in Bangladeshi culture. Dhaka Univ. J. Biol. Sci. 29(1): 37-44, 2020 (January)

The problem of infertility treatment is currently relevant for married couples who have not had a pregnancy within a year of regular sexual activity. The possibility of infertility treatment using assisted reproductive technologies allows couples to get the desired pregnancy. The emotional response of men in infertile marriage was researched in this study, and it was shown that some men have an increased level of anxiety and depression, while preferred coping strategies allow going through the entire infertility treatment program, taking into account personal characteristics. The study involved 52 married men, aged 35-43 years. Psychodiagnostic testing using techniques to determine the level of anxiety, depression, coping strategies, and a personal questionnaire was conducted. As a result of the obtained data, the need for psychodiagnostic testing is justified in order to identify the level of emotional expression and the possibility of participation in the ART program.
