Effective concentrations for D and L thyroxin isomers were determined by the chemiluminescent (CL) method and their effects on free radical oxidation in the mitochondrial and synaptosomal fraction of adult rat cerebral cortex were studied in vitro. A OA DT4 in a model system with riboflavin was 2.2 times higher than L-T4. Effective concentrations for both thyroxin forms were 1$q= = 7.43 x 10~5+/-0.71 M for D-T4 and 15q=15.47 x 10~5+/1.23 M for L-T4. Thyroxin effect on membranous fraction of the brain cortex was studied in vitro using luminol-dependent peroxide CL. In normal concentrations (1 x 108 M) both hormone forms exerted equally intensive antioxidant effect which was more pronounced in the mitochondrial fraction, where CL decreased by 69 and 66%, while in the synaptosomal fraction it decreased only by 45 and 46%. Since D form possesses no hormonal activity, this effect may be due to phenol origin of thyroxin.

Introduction. Fluorine compounds in small doses, but with prolonged exposure, cause various disorders in organs at the cellular and molecular levels. Activation of free-radical processes plays an important role in the damaging eff ect of fl uorides. Th erefore, one of the most eff ective ways to limit fl uorine-induced damage is to directly aff ect free-radical processes using herbal preparations with antioxidant properties. The aim of the study is to study the eff ect of a dihydroquercetin-based drug on the activity of free radical processes in brain tissue under subchronic exposure to sodium fl uoride (NaF).Materials and methods. Th e work was performed on white male laboratory rats weighing 200-250 g. Th e rats were divided into 3 groups: 1 — control; 2 — rats with chronic exposure to sodium fl uoride (NaF) for 9 weeks; 3 — rats receiving a NAF solution with simultaneous administration of a complex drug based on dihydroquercetin at a dose of 3 mg/kg in 1% starch gel for 3, 6 and 9 weeks. The activity of free radical oxidation and antioxidant defense enzymes — superoxide dismutase (SOD) and catalase-was determined in the cerebral cortex. Th e level of expression of hypoxia-induced transcription factor HIF — 1A and inducible forms of proteins HSP72 and HSP32 were determined in the cytosolic fraction of brain tissue.Results. In the early stages of subchronic fl uoride exposure (1-3 weeks), the expression of protective proteins HIF-1α, HSP72, HSP32 and catalase was shown in the rat cortex, as a result of which the activity of free-radical processes was maintained at the control level. An increase in the timing of fl uoride intake to 9 weeks led to a decrease in antioxidant protection and signifi cant activation of free radical oxidation in brain tissue. Daily administration of a complex drug with dihydroquercetin for 3, 6 and 9 weeks to rats with subchronic fl uoride exposure led to a decrease in the severity of pro- and antioxidant balance disorders in the cerebral cortex. At the same time, the greatest protective eff ect of dihydroquercetin with fl uoride exposure was manifested by the 9th week of its administration.Conclusions. When subchronic intake of fl uorides in the body, the drug based on dihydroquercetin has a neuroprotective eff ect, which is manifested by an increase in the activity of antioxidant enzymes of fr ee radical oxidation and catalase and the resistance of the cortex to induced fr ee radical oxidation.

The experiment is devoted to the study of the antioxidant properties of neuropeptides from melanocortins ACTH(4-7)-Pro-Gly-Pro (Semax) and ACTH(6-9)-ProGly-Pro under conditions of experimental depression. The study was carried out on white outbred male rats. In the process of modeling experimental depression (social stress) inter-male confrontations were observed as a result of which groups of animals with aggressive and submissive behaviors were formed. The free radical oxidation processes were assessed by determining the activity of catalase, the initial content of malondialdehyde (MDA), the rate of spontaneous and ascorbate-dependent lipid peroxidation (LPO) in the hypothalamic and prefrontal regions of the brain by spectrophotometric method. It was found that under the influence of melanocortins, there is a pronounced suppression of the processes of free radical oxidation in the hypothalamic and prefrontal regions of the brain, which arose against the background of a stressful load which is manifested by a decrease in the indicators of the oxidative process.

Aim. To study the effects of combined dressings on the processes of free radical oxidation in patients with purulent wounds.Methods. The performance of luminol-dependent chemiluminescence of whole blood from 30 healthy donors and 122 patients with purulent wounds, as well as tissue chemiluminescence of festering wounds tissue homogenates were examined before and after the treatment. To assess the free radical oxidation in vitro, spontaneous and zymosan-induced whole blood chemiluminescence measurement, iron-induced chemiluminescence assessment of festering wounds tissue homogenates were performed. The distribution of chemiluminescence parameters compared to normal expected distribution was analyzed to group homogeneity on these criteria.Results. Group of donors was homogeneous in composition that allowed the calculation of mean values. By changing in whole blood chemiluminescence of patients with soft tissue festering wounds, they were allocated to two groups, in which a marked increase or decline of the investigated parameters was seen. Increased luminol-dependent blood chemiluminescence indicates excessive free radicals generation by phagocytes and is characteristic of acute inflammation. Decreased intensity of chemiluminescence was observed in the blood of patients who showed reduced functional activity of phagocytes, which, together with the clinical features indicate a long-term smoldering inflammation. The comparative assessment of «Poliderm», «Voskopran», «Polysorb», «Levomekol» medications, used for local treatment of suppurative wounds, influence on free radical oxidation in model systems in vitro, was performed.Conclusion. There is a triple increase in chemiluminescence intensity in the acute phase of the inflammatory process, marking increased production of reactive oxygen radicals with microbicide activity); in long-term smoldering processes, chemiluminescence decreases by half, indicating reduced efficiency of protective mechanisms

1. Iron-overloaded spleens from thalassaemic subjects showed a greatly increased susceptibility to free-radical oxidation (peroxidation) in vitro. 2. Iron content was the main but not the only variable governing susceptibility. Added ascorbate had a dose-dependent action either as an antioxidant or as a pro-oxidant, the direction of its effect depending mainly on the degree of iron overload. This has therapeutic implications.

The aim of the research is to determine the total antioxidant activity of in vitro collection of antihepatotoxic action consisting of roots and rhizomes of Inula helenium L., grass Centaurium erythraea Rafn., flowers Tanacetum vulgare L., fruits Rosa sp., fruits of Crataegus sp. аnd its separate components by the method of colonometric titration and determination of antioxidant activity of dry extract (conditional name "Pentafite") obtained from this collection under conditions of experimental tetrachloride of carbon hepatitis in white rats. A method of chemiluminescent lipid analysis was used to evaluate the free radical oxidation of lipids in liver in test animals. It has been found that collection of antihepatotoxic action and plants included in it have antioxidant activity in vitro, at the same time synergistic effect on manifestation of total antioxidant activity of collection is revealed. Pharmacotherapy of experimental hepatitis in experimental rats by administration of Pentafite at a dose of 300 mg/kg has been found to significantly reduce the chemiluminometric values of lipids, which characterize the intensity of free radical reactions. "Pentafite" has a pronounced inhibitory effect on hyperlipoperoxidation in animal liver in case of toxic damage to it. The established antioxidant activity of collecting antihepatotoxic action and Pentafite extract may be important for their use in the treatment and prevention of hepatobiliary diseases.
