AbstractIn the present article, we developed a highly sensitive label-free electrochemical immunosensor based on NiFe-layered double hydroxides (LDH)/reduced graphene oxide (rGO)/gold nanoparticles modified glassy carbon electrode for the determination of receptor tyrosine kinase-like orphan receptor (ROR)-1. In this electrochemical immunoassay platform, NiFe-LDH/rGO was used due to great electron mobility, high specific surface area and flexible structures, while Au nanoparticles were prepared and coated on the modified electrodes to improve the detection sensitivity and ROR1 antibody immobilizing (ROR1Ab). The modification procedure was approved by using cyclic voltammetry and differential pulse voltammetry based on the response of peak current to the step by step modifications. Under optimum conditions, the experimental results showed that the immunosensor revealed a sensitive response to ROR1 in the range of 0.01–1 pg mL−1, and with a lower limit of quantification of 10 attogram/mL (10 ag mL−1). Furthermore, the designed immunosensor was applied for the analysis of ROR1 in several serum samples of chronic lymphocytic leukemia suffering patients with acceptable results, and it also exhibited good selectivity, reproducibility and stability.

Hydraulic oil is the key medium for the normal operation of hydraulic machinery, which carries various wear debris. The information reflected by the wear debris can be used to predict the early failure of equipment and achieve predictive maintenance. In order to realize the real-time condition monitoring of hydraulic oil, an impedance debris sensor that can detect inductance and resistance parameters is designed and studied in this paper. The material and size of wear debris can be discriminated based on inductance-resistance detection method. Silicon steel strips and two rectangular channels are designed in the sensor. The silicon steel strips are used to enhance the magnetic field strength, and the double rectangular detection channels can make full use of the magnetic field distribution region, thereby improving the detection sensitivity and throughput of the sensor. The comparison experiment shows that the coils in series are more suitable for the monitoring of wear debris. By comparing and analyzing the direction and the presence or absence of the signal pulses, the debris sensor can detect and distinguish 46 µm iron particles and 110 µm copper particles. This impedance detection method provides a new technical support for the high-precision distinguishing measurement of metal debris. The sensor can not only be used for oil detection in the laboratory, but also can be made into portable oil detection device for machinery health monitoring.

Failures of the gas turbine hot components often cause catastrophic consequences. Early fault detection can detect the sign of fault occurrence at an early stage, improve availability and prevent serious incidents of the plant. Monitoring the variation of exhaust gas temperature (EGT) is an effective early fault detection method. Thus, a new gas turbine hot components early fault detection method is developed in this paper. By introducing a priori knowledge and quantum particle swarm optimization (QPSO), the exhaust gas temperature profile continuous distribution model is established with finite EGT measuring data. The method eliminates influences of operating and ambient condition changes and especially the gas swirl effect. The experiment reveals the presented method has higher fault detection sensitivity.

A kind of gene detection biochip model based on biological micro electro mechanical systems (BioMEMS) technology and micro optical electro mechanical systems (MOEMS) technology is designed and simulated. In order to detect whether there are nucleic acid components in the testing samples, the biochip in this study issues horizontal light by laser, then receives and reads the deformation signals of MEMS cantilever by optical detector. The MEMS optical reflecting system can amplify MEMS cantilever deformation signal 22 times by micro reflectors which are set on the side wall of the cantilever free end. In order to improve optical detection sensitivity, gold nanoparticles (GNPs) which are combined with hybridization information is taken to aggravate MEMS cantilever, and employ Au - S chemical bond of GNPs and dithiol HS(CH2)6SH to combine and fix DNA probe, and then employ target DNA which is marked with biotin to combine GNPs by Biotin - Streptavidin combining. The simulation results show that this biochip can detect biological samples fast, high throughput, low cost, high sensitivity and reliably.

By using the finite difference time domain method, the localized surface plasmon extinction spectrum of different sizes of spherical gold and silver nanoparticles were simulated and analyzed in external environments with various refractive indices. It was observed that the changes in the position of the resonance wavelength were linearly proportional to the external refractive index, while the sensitivity increased with nanoparticle size. The sensitivity of the spherical silver nanoparticles with a radius of 40 nm reached 122 nm/RIU. For the silver and gold nanoparticles of the same size, the sensitivity of the silver nanoparticles was greater than that of the gold nanoparticles. In the experiment, the spectral characteristics of the silver nanoparticles with different sizes under various external refractive indices were measured. The experimental results were consistent with the simulation results. The resonance wavelength and the concentration of the solution showed a good linear relationship. By using the sensitive properties of the nanoparticles such as external refractive index, the amount of sucrose in the solution can be measured.
