In this study, vapour-liquid equilibrium of CO2-loaded aqueous potassium salt of L-histidine was studied for a wide range of temperature (313.15–353.15 K), pressure (150–4000 kPa), and solvent concentrations (1–2.5 molar). The experimental results show that L-histidine has an excellent absorptive capacity for carbon dioxide. When compared to conventional solvent (monoethanolamine) and amino acid salt (potassium L-lysinate) at similar process conditions, L-histidine has superior absorption capacity. Moreover, modified Kent–Eisenberg model was used to correlate the VLE of the studied system with excellent agreement between the model and experimental values. The model exhibited an AARE% of 7.87%, which shows that it can satisfactorily predict carbon dioxide solubilities in aqueous potassium salt of L-histidine at other process conditions. Being a biological component in origin, almost negligibly volatile, and highly resistant to oxidative degradation, L-histidine offers certain operational advantages over other solvents used and has a promising potential for carbon dioxide capture.

The full article will be published in the English version of the  journal "Catalysis in Industry" No. 4, 2021.Hydrogenation of CO2 to CO and hydrocarbons is carried out over a wide range of catalysts. Group of VIIIB transition metals have proved high conversion and selectively for CO and methane. Meanwhile, low cost and effective catalysts are preferable in an industrial scale. In this work, the synergistic effect of iron content on the catalytic performance were investigated in carbon dioxide hydrogenation reaction. Incipient wetness impregnation procedure was used for the preparation of four γ-Al2O3 supported iron-based catalysts. BET, XRD, H2-TPR and TEM techniques were employed for the catalyst characterization. The evaluation of catalysts were carried out in a fixed bed reactor at the process conditions of temperature of 300 °C, pressure of 20 atm, H2 to CO2 ratio of 3 and GHSV of 3 nl.h–1·gCat–1. It was found that the promoter addition improves the activity of Fe catalyst for both Fischer – Tropsch synthesis (FTS) and Reverse Water Gas Shift (RWGS) reactions. The results showed that conversion of CO2 was from 15.6 to 35.6 % with major products of methane, C2 to C4, C5+ and CO. It was also found that impact of K and Ce promoters into iron catalyst showed the highest conversion and hydrocarbon yield due to the synergistic effect.

AbstractA computationally simple thermodynamic framework has been presented to correlate the vapour-liquid equilibria of carbon dioxide absorption in five representative types of alkanolamine mixtures. The proposed model is an extension of modified Kent Eisenberg model for the carbon dioxide loaded aqueous alkanolamine mixtures. The model parameters are regressed on a large experimental data pool of carbon dioxide solubility in aqueous alkanolamine mixtures. The model is applicable to a wide range of temperature (298–393 K), pressure (0.1–6000 kPa) and alkanolamine concentration (0.3–5 M). The correlated results are compared to the experimental values and found to be in good agreement with the average deviations ranging between 6% and 20%. The model results are comparable to other thermodynamic models.

Carbon dioxide (CO2) is the major cause of accelerating global warming. It is important to employ efficient method to capture CO2. Absorption is the most established technique to separate CO2 and amines are most commonly used as solvent. In this study, density and viscosity of an amine based novel solvent named Stonvent were investigated at temperature ranging from 298.15 K to 338.15 K. CO2 solubility in Stonvent was measured at varying pressures, temperatures and concentrations. The experiments were conducted at temperatures (303.15, 318.15 and 333.15) K, and at pressures (0.5, 1, 1.5 and 3) MPa over a wide range of concentration (10, 20, 30 and 100) mass %. Solubility of CO2 was determined from pressure drop due to absorption of CO2 into solvent within equilibrium cell. Absorption capacity of Stonvent increases significantly with increasing pressure. Solubility of CO2 in Stonvent is higher compared to Monoethanolamine (MEA), 1-amino-2-propanol (MIPA) and 2-amino-2-methyl-1,3-propanediol (AMPD) at elevated pressure, hence posing Stonvent as an attractive alternative for acid gas absorption in high pressure conditions. Substantial increase in CO2 loading was observed when concentration of Stonvent is increased and when temperature is decreased.

Titanium nitride (TiN) films have historically been used as diffusion barrier between silicon and aluminum, as an adhesion layer for tungsten deposition and as an interconnect material etc. Recently, the role of TiN films as contact barriers in very large scale silicon integrated circuits (VLSI) has been extensively studied. TiN films have resistivities on the order of 20μ Ω-cm which is much lower than that of titanium (nearly 66μ Ω-cm). Deposited TiN films show resistivities which vary from 20 to 100μ Ω-cm depending upon the type of deposition and process conditions. TiNx is known to have a NaCl type crystal structure for a wide range of compositions. Change in color from metallic luster to gold reflects the stabilization of the TiNx (FCC) phase over the close packed Ti(N) hexagonal phase. It was found that TiN (1:1) ideal composition with the FCC (NaCl-type) structure gives the best electrical property.

Abstract Softwood-based kraft mill bleaching effluents from the initial bleaching stages D0 and E1 (the bleaching sequence being D0E 1D 1 E2D2) were treated by the oxidative Fenton method (H20rFeS04) to decompose organic pollutants contammg adsorbable organic halogens (AOX). Experiments designed using the Taguchi method were applied to predict the process conditions that would result in a cost-effective and adequate removal of AOX. In addition to the composition and concentration of the reagents (H202 and Fe2+), the main process parameters selected were temperature and reaction time, while pH was adj usted to an approximate value of 4 (the volumetric ratio of the mixed effluents D0:E 1 was 3 :2). The results indicated that an AOX removal of about 70% for this mixture ( corresponding to about 50% for the mill) was achieved when the eftluent samples were treated for 60 min at 70°C with H202 and Fe2+ at a concentration of 1 600 mg/1 and 28 mg/1, respectively.
