Linear and nonlinear mechanisms for generating convective cells with finite but small parallel (to the external magnetic field B0) wavelength are presented. The problems of mode-coupling as well as quasi-steady nonlinear mode structures are analytically studied. Possible applications in space plasmas are discussed.

Fluctuation theorems establish deep relations between observables away from thermal equilibrium. Until recently, the research on fluctuation theorems was focused on time-reversal-invariant systems. In this review we address some newly discovered fluctuation relations that hold without the time-reversal symmetry, in particular, in the presence of an external magnetic field. One family of relations connects nonlinear transport coefficients in the opposite magnetic fields. Another family relates currents and noises at a fixed direction of the magnetic field in chiral systems, such as the edges of some quantum Hall liquids. We review the recent experimental and theoretical research, including the controversy about the microreversibility without the time-reversal symmetry, consider the applications of fluctuation theorems to the physics of topological states of matter, and discuss open problems.

The theoretical investigation of interband and intraband transitions in an asymmetric biconvex lens-shaped quantum dot are considered in the presence of an external magnetic field. The selection rules for intraband transitions are obtained. The behaviors of linear and nonlinear absorption and photoluminescence spectra are observed for different temperatures and magnetic field strengths. The second and third harmonic generation coefficients as a function of the photon energy are examined both in the absence and presence of an external magnetic field.

The Chapman—Enskog expansion is applied to the model Fokker—Planck equation for a plasma, derived in part 2. It is shown that the complete set of transport coefficients can be calculated without further approximations. Results are derived first in the absence of any external magnetic field. The transport coefficients are also derived when there is a strong magnetic field, in which case they become anisotropic.
