The Chapman—Enskog expansion is applied to the model Fokker—Planck equation for a plasma, derived in part 2. It is shown that the complete set of transport coefficients can be calculated without further approximations. Results are derived first in the absence of any external magnetic field. The transport coefficients are also derived when there is a strong magnetic field, in which case they become anisotropic.

An express magnetometric technique is proposed, which makes it possible to determine the inhomogeneity of the change in the superconducting properties of a thin superconductor layer due to radiation exposure. A numerical simulation of this technique is carried out using the example of a superconducting GdBa2Cu3O7-x layer irradiated with hydrogen and helium ions. The profile of the concentration of radiation defects was calculated using the SRIM software package. The calculation of the density distribution of superconducting currents induced by an external magnetic field was carried out within the framework of the critical state model. Model calculations have shown the effectiveness of the proposed method.

The relation between linearized magnetohydrodynamics and the space and time dependent correlation functions of a plasma in an external magnetic field is derived. The method used is a perturbation technique based on the assumption that the correlation functions can be decomposed into a slow, hydrodynamic, and a rapid, microscopic, part. Using this method, the hydrodynamic modes are determined, and the description of magnetohydrodynamics found in this manner is assumed to be identical to regular magnetohydrodynamics. The resulting correspondence yields a set of correlation function expressions for the transport coefficients and magnetohydrodynamic modes.

High temperature superconducting (HTS) tapes could be introduced into large scale wind power generators in order to improve the power density. However, the alternating current (AC) loss of HTS tapes will cause the reduction of efficiency. On the basis of analytical and numerical model calculations, this paper presents an optimal design of the HTS armature winding aiming at lower AC loss. The main contribution of this work is that the relationship between the installation parameters and the AC loss of such HTS armature windings has been figured out based on the analysis of the shape feature of the HTS tape and the external magnetic field. When the tape is placed along a particular direction where the perpendicular component of external magnetic field has the lowest amplitude, the AC loss is the smallest. The modified installation location and angle are found based on the proposed generator. These results are verified using finite element method (FEM).
