ABSTRACT The X-ray spectrum of extreme high-energy peaked BL Lac-type blazars is located in the synchrotron branch of the broad-band spectral energy distribution (SED), at energies below the peak. A joint fit of the extrapolated X-ray spectra together with a host galaxy template allows characterizing the synchrotron branch in the SED. The X-ray spectrum is usually characterized either with a pure or a curved power-law model. In the latter case, however, it is hard to distinguish an intrinsic curvature from excess absorption. In this paper, we focus on five well-observed blazars: 1ES 0229+200, PKS 0548−322, RX J 1136+6737, 1ES 1741+196, and 1ES 2344+514. We constrain the infrared to X-ray emission of these five blazars using a model that is characterized by the host galaxy, spectral curvature, absorption, and ultraviolet (UV) excess to separate these spectral features. In the case of four sources, namely 1ES 0229+200, PKS 0548−322, 1ES 1741+196, and 1ES 2344+514, the spectral fit with the atomic neutral hydrogen from the Leiden Argentina Bonn Survey results in a significant UV excess present in the broad-band SED. Such excess can be interpreted as an additional component, for example, a blue bump. However, in order to describe spectra of these blazars without such excess, additional absorption to the atomic neutral hydrogen from the Leiden Argentina Bonn Survey is needed.

Abstract. An earthquake with a magnitude of Mw=7.5 that occurred in Sulawesi, Indonesia, on 28 September 2018 triggered liquefaction and tsunamis that caused severe damage and many casualties. This paper reports the results of a post-tsunami field survey conducted by a team with members from Indonesia and Taiwan that began 13 d after the earthquake. The main purpose of this survey was to measure the run-up of tsunami waves and inundation and observe the damage caused by the tsunami. Measurements were made in 18 selected sites, most in Palu Bay. The survey results show that the run-up height and inundation distance reached 10.7 m in Tondo and 488 m in Layana. Inundation depths of 2 to 4 m were common at most sites and the highest was 8.4 m in Taipa. The arrival times of the tsunami waves were quite short and different for each site, typically about 3–8 min from the time of the main earthquake event. This study also describes the damage to buildings and infrastructure and coastal landslides.

In the global world reality the success of large companies depends on a permanent logistics evaluation. But to measure the stage of logistics level, a methodology, models and references are required. The national and international performance measurement in logistics activities references was used. This was carried out in order to develop a field survey, using a methodology, model and references described in this paper. Also, survey results on the use of formalization in logistics are analyzed, i.e. how the logistics organization influences the whole structure to improve the supply chain management.

To assess crucial stresses to fish survival in suburban streams, a Life Cycle Risk Assessment (LCRA) was developed and verified by comparing with field survey results. In LCRA, 8 stresses produced by human activities were taken into consideration, referring to the literature. Field survey was conducted over 2 years to identify the present existence and distributions of fishes in 3 streams, which have different pollution levels and morphologies. Field survey results demonstrated that species of fishes and their populations were different in 3 streams and varied with location. Crucial stresses frequently identified by the LCRA were depletion of dissolved oxygen (DO), disappearances of habitats (e.g. deep and shallow), disappearance of spawning area, and existence of obstructions in the streams. Furthermore, most LCRA results regarding existence or non-existence of 15 fishes at 7 different sites were fairly in good agreement with field survey results. From these results, we concluded the present LCRA would be a useful tool in assessing crucial stress as well as in predicting fish species that are able to survive in streams.

In line with the government's program to strengthen tourism destinations in Indonesia, many tourism villages have been initiated, including Kulon Progo Regency. The needs of people to relieve fatigue by visiting tourist attractions, encourage the growth of tourist villages. The existence of a tourism village encourages the growth of typical souvenirs of the tourist village. Jatirejo is one of the villages in the Lendah sub-district, Kulon Progo, which is located at 7o93'22" south latitude and between 110o23'08" east longitude. Jatirejo has an area of 635.89 ha or 17.87% of the area of Lendah District (3,559.19 ha). The location of Jatirejo is close to access pathway of NYIA Airport, so it has great potential to become one of the tourism destinations. It is necessary to develop a tourist village by recognizing the agroindustry product potency owned by Jatirejo. This Community Service aimed to recognize and to document the agroindustry product potency of villages, as a first step in the development of local souvenirs and to support the development of Jatirejo Tourism Village. The method used was a field survey and plot the survey results on a map of Jatirejo Village using Corel Draw software. Based on the results of a survey of 5 hamlets in Jatirejo Village, the potential of processed foods that might be developed including emping melinjo, rice plates, catfish product, benguk/koro tempeh, coconut fiber broom, and also chicken cage.

This paper presents field survey results on damage from severe local storms, such as tornadoes. Surveys were conducted in Bangladesh in August 2009 and August 2010 to clarify damage details, meteorological features, factors related to damage generation and spread, recovery problems experienced by local residents due to storm damage and storms prediction in local areas.

We performed interferometric synthetic aperture radar (InSAR) analyses to observe ground displacements and assess damage after the M 6.6 Hokkaido Eastern Iburi earthquake in northern Japan on 6 September 2018. A multitemporal SAR coherence map is extracted from 3-m resolution ascending (track 116) and descending (track 18) ALOS-2 Stripmap datasets to cover the entire affected area. To distinguish damaged buildings associated with liquefaction, three influential parameters from the space-based InSAR results, ground-based LiquickMap (from seismic intensities in Japanese networks) and topographic slope of the study area are considered together in a weighted overlay (WO) analysis, according to prior knowledge of the study area. The WO analysis results in liquefaction potential values that agree with our field survey results. To investigate further, we conducted microtremor measurements at 14 points in Hobetsu, in which the predominant frequency showed a negative correlation with the WO values, especially when drastic coherence decay occurred.
