Automatic Extraction and Synthesis of Disassembly Information From CAD Assembly STEP File

Product disassembly is critical to remanufacturing, reuse, and recycling activities, which are essential reverse flows in circular economy systems. While disassembly optimization and analysis methods are well developed, many of these methods rely on basic disassembly information, i.e. a precedence matrix. Obtaining this basic disassembly information is a non-trivial task that has, in the past, required extensive manual analysis of a product assembly. This process can be significantly improved by developing methods capable of automatically extracting disassembly data from CAD/CAM assemblies. If this can be achieved accurately, efficiently, and in a timely manner, numerous disassembly optimization methods will become readily available to product designers. In pursuit of this aim, the objective of this research is to automatically extract part contact information from assembly models and determine disassembly operation feasibility. The described method uses CAD assembly STEP data as input, extracts disassembly relevant information such as, component surface contour type, Cartesian points, and normal direction of the surface, and determines the feasibility of disassembly of each component which is represented as a precedence matrix. Disassembly feasibility is evaluated using the contact function. A case assembly was tested and the precedence matrix was successfully determined for part contact disassembly constraints. Results of the research indicate that the method is capable of extracting disassembly data from CAD STEP assemblies but has critical limitations that must be overcome to be influential during design.

World economic aggregates are compiled infrequently and released after considerable lags. There are, however, many potentially relevant series released in a timely manner and at a higher frequency that could provide significant information about the evolution of global aggregates. The challenge is then to extract the relevant information from this multitude of indicators and combine it to track the real-time evolution of the target variables. We develop a methodology based on dynamic factor models adapted for variables with heterogeneous frequencies, ragged ends and missing data. We apply this methodology to nowcast global trade in goods in goods and services. In addition to monitoring these variables in real time, this method can also be used to obtain short-term forecasts based on the most up-to-date values of the underlying indicators.

Most engineering design projects focus primarily on the engineering fundamentals. Studying the business case or manufacturability of a design is often left for other courses, if at all. To address this gap, an existing mechanical engineering course project was modified by embedding the interdependent entrepreneurial dimensions. In the past, junior engineering students developed a reciprocating air engines over two semesters. The modified project extended the engineering fundamentals into an entrepreneurial venture. To accomplish this, students were asked to propose an air engine toy for middle schoolers. The proposed toy had to be assembled, provide a learning opportunity, and demonstrate utility. The students had to ensure the product appealed to those interested in the STEM fields. The students, working in groups, created renders of the final product, assembly instructions, and a guided worksheet for the kids to explore the underlying engineering concept. The groups produced a website with a video pitching their toy concepts. This case study exemplifies how any engineering endeavor can be modified to capture a more holistic simulation of the profession.

Abstract Machine learning and automatized routines for parameter optimization have experienced a surge in development in the past years, mostly caused by the increasing availability of computing capacity. Gradient-free optimization can avoid cumbersome theoretical studies as input parameters are purely adapted based on output data. As no knowledge about the objective function is provided to the algorithms, this approach might reveal unconventional solutions to complex problems that were out of scope of classical solution strategies. In this study, the potential of these optimization methods on thermoacoustic problems is examined. The optimization algorithms are applied to a generic low-order thermoacoustic can-combustor model with several fuel injectors at different locations. We use three optimization algorithms — the well established Downhill Simplex Method, the recently proposed Explorative Gradient Method, and an evolutionary algorithm — to find optimal fuel distributions across the fuel lines while maintaining the amount of consumed fuel constant. The objective is to have minimal pulsation amplitudes. We compare the results and efficiency of the gradient-free algorithms. Additionally, we employ model-based linear stability analysis to calculate the growth rates of the dominant thermoacoustic modes. This allows us to highlight general and thermoacoustic-specific features of the optimization methods and results. The findings of this study show the potential of gradient-free optimization methods on combustor design for tackling thermoacoustic problems, and motivate further research in this direction.

The article deals with the problem of selecting efficient ships by the feasibility study in which brake power, main dimensions, payload, speed and fuel consumption are determined. The necessity of using the proposed selection at the initial stage of the ship's design is justified; the problems that arise at the present time are denoted. The purpose of the article is to propose a criterion for the selection of efficient vessels, "tied" to the operating conditions, based on the marginal cost of the ship. A method for its determination is presented. At the same time, annual revenues and operating costs should be determined by modern methods of business planning for the operation of the fleet. When searching for the parameters of the ship, the optimal fuel consumption is determined. The rest of the costs can be found according to the coefficients "tied" to the fuel consumption and calculated on the basis of existing prototypes. The results of calculations by the proposed method are shown; its merits and opportunities for improvement are noted with the availability of relevant information. The conclusion is made about the convenience and applicability of the proposed option for selecting efficient ship for the feasibility study based on optimization methods for determining the parameters of vessels under conditions of a high level of use of information technologies.

In modern times, however, it uses the intelligent methods, Genetic algorithm and swarm optimization methods Ant colony, Bees colony, Cuckoo search, Particle optimization, fish algorithm, cat algorithm, Genetic algorithm ...etc. In feature selection because to increment fast, high accuracy and easy to use of user. In this paper survey it used the Some the swarm intelligent method: Ant colony, Bees colony, Cuckoo search, Particle optimization and Genetic algorithm (GA). It done take  the related work for each algorithms the swarm intelligent the ideas, dataset and accuracy of the results after that was done to compare the result in the table among the algorithms and learning the better algorithm is discuses in the discussion and why it is better. Finally, it learning who is the advantage and disadvantage for each algorithms of swarm intelligent in feature selection.

We aim to prove Poincaré inequalities for a class of pure jump Markov processes inspired by the model introduced by Galves and Löcherbach to describe the behavior of interacting brain neurons. In particular, we consider neurons with degenerate jumps, i.e., which lose their memory when they spike, while the probability of a spike depends on the actual position and thus the past of the whole neural system. The process studied by Galves and Löcherbach is a point process counting the spike events of the system and is therefore non-Markovian. In this work, we consider a process describing the membrane potential of each neuron that contains the relevant information of the past. This allows us to work in a Markovian framework.

Nowadays modern manufacturing demands advanced computer controller, having higher input language and less proprietary vendor dependencies. STEP stands for Standard for the Exchange of Product model data is the next generation of data model between CAD/CAM and CNC system. STEP is still under research and development all around the world. This paper describes the design, development and testing of an integrated Interface development environment for STEP file using Universal Data Structure, which aims to provide support for machining operation.  The system also aims to provide function of reading and extracting the relevant information associated with the machining data and to write the G-Code file. The sample of machined block is designed from 3D CAD modeler which consisted of features need to be machined from a blank workpiece and saved in the STEP file format. The validation process will be done using the simulation in the Mach3 software.

Abstract The above research team has for the past 4 years been working on a database of valency schemes for 4,000 Danish verbs. First we present the underlying theoretical assumptions for the creation of valency schemes. Then the tools to perform automatic extraction of valency information from corpora are described. Finally, the results are presented. Keywords: natural language parsing, Danish, lexical valency, the Pronominal Approach, corpus analysis.

During the past few years, there have been rapid changes in the pharmaceutical uses of nitroglycerin. New dosage forms and new delivery systems have become available, which have resulted in potential confusion to all concerned with the proper use of these systems. The goal of this review is to prevent confusion and to bring all the relevant information together. The various analytical techniques available for quality control of the dosage forms and for the study of the pharmacokinetics are reviewed, with the intent of enabling the reader to identify pertinent references rapidly. The interaction of nitroglycerin with packaging and plastic delivery devices is also reviewed so that the reader can make informed choices. Finally, the clinical pharmacy and pharmacokinetics are reviewed so as to bring the reader up to date in that area. After reading this article, the areas of nitroglycerin research that still need to be explored should be apparent.

It was felt that providing this information in a written format would introduce consisitency and allow parents/carers more time to take information on board.MethodAn internet search and discussions with other organisations with paediatric gastroenterology specialists was conduted to see if something similar was in existence. A similar information leaflet to what we hoped to produce was not found. Members of the paediatric nutrition team, which included consultants, nurse specialists, pharmacist and dietician, provided input to the type of information that should be included in the information leaflet. A first draft of the leaflet was produced and shown to the parents of current paediatric PN inpatients. Feedback was received and the leaflet updated following consultation with the nutrition team.ConclusionProduction of a very useful information leaflet for parents/carers, containing all the relevant information and detail. The leaflet uses colour and pictures to aid the transfer of information and makes it more attractive to read. The pharmacist is the main point of contact for the paediatric nutrition team and will be the individual responsible for distributing them.
