The teaching and learning (T&L) of Islamic Education which are comprised of theory and practical, often involves the use of teaching aids (TAs). In general, this article discusses the use of TAs among Smart School Islamic Education Teacher in T&L. This article aims to explore the types of TAs used by the Islamic Education Teacher (IET), the resources to obtain teaching aids, and IETs’ strategies to enhance their knowledge of the TAs. This pilot study uses case study design with in-depth interview instrument to accumulate data from IET, IETs’ colleague and IETs’ supervisor. Interview data are analyzed using NVivo software version 7.0 to develop themes and to set up matrix tables. The result shows that frequently-used teaching aids are realia for non-computer-based teaching and CDs for computer-based teaching. IETs’ main sources to obtain TAs are the school surau and the internet. IET increase their knowledge about TAs through the internet as well as attending courses. The implication of this study is that the applicability and accessibility aspects of the TAs should be emphasized among IET in order to optimize the application of the TAs.

The STILE Project (Students' and Teachers' Integrated Learning Environment) is one of 76 projects set up under the UK Government's Teaching and Learning Technology Programme (TLTP) initiative sponsored by the British Higher Education Funding Councils (HEFCs). The STILE Project uses hypermedia to provide greater opportunities for independent and flexible modes of learning both in a campus situation and for distance learning. The approach is resource-based. STILE provides a mechanism for both tutors and learners to discover and access relevant resources when they need them, together with facilities that enable users readily to use and re-use existing materials, to integrate them together, and to add further materials of their own in a way that seems natural to them (see Ruggles et al, 1995). The result is not a closed and finished product, but a set of tools and services and a continually developing resource base. The effect is to ease the load on academic staff in maintaining and supporting student access to resources, and to enrich the set of resources available to both staff and students.DOI:10.1080/0968776960040205

Pesantren, the Islamic boarding school, is the oldest Islamic education in Indonesia and is constantly undergoing changes from time to time. This research uses the qualitative approach. This study aims to describe the application of the heutagogy method in the growth of pesantren education. The results of this study indicate that the Al-Luqmaniyyah salaf Boarding School has already applied the heutagogy learning method, it means that pesantren education precedes the Westerners in terms of its utilization. Through the study and discussion of Kitab Kuning (yellow-colored textbooks about Islamic knowledge), students determine their systems, study materials, and problems to find a solution. Sources of learning for students are not only limited by the Kitab Kuning, but students can also have access through the internet, online books and applications with trusted sources. PSDS is responsible for managing the talents and interests of the santri (a term used in Pesantren to call an apprentice), as well as training santri skills by making films, recording, creativity, writing, making advertisements, making interesting contents on social media. LP2M Al-Luqmaniyyah with its various divisions is required to channel and facilitate what the community needs from the students as they can also learn from the community it self. Keywords: Heutagogy, Islamic boarding school education.

This study was fully conducted through qualitative method via case study. Six IELs were selected as participants and willing to be interviewed, and the data from the interview were supported by three Heads of Islamic Education Unit, 12 lecturers and 12 students. The data were triangulated with the data obtained through observation and document analysis. The data were analysed through N’Vivo software to generate a pattern of themes and characteristics of the vision and mission in TnL. The result found that there were six elements of vision and mission emphasized by the IELs in TnL. Five of them had formed a pattern. That five elements were; students receiving and appreciating, TnL objective achieved, spreading da’wah, moulding students attidtude and thinking, and achieving success in the world and the hereafter. Therefore, a model which is named as Model of the Vision and Mission Practice for the Excellent Islamic Education Lecturers was deloped. This article describes a unique project using commercial haptic interfaces to augment the teaching of high school physics. Since force is central to the teaching of physics, we believe that the use of haptics in virtual reality physics simulations has the potential for deeper, more engaging learning. Software has been developed which is freely-available on the internet, and HTML tutorials have been developed to support these haptics-augmented software activities in the teaching and learning of high school physics. Pilot study results are reported, which yielded positive feedback and suggestions for project improvement from high school physics students and teachers.

This study aims to determine PAI learning and understand the problems and solutions of the application of Islamic Education learning for autism  students at SLB Putra Idhata, Madiun Regency. The research method used is a qualitative approach with the type of case study research and the thinking process uses inductive paragraphs. Data collection techniques using interviews, observation, and documentation. While the data analysis techniques used are data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results showed that: (1) Learning on the autism students was adjusted to the abilities and characteristics of the students. The teaching of Islamic religious education for students on the autism uses the ABA (Applied Behavior Analysis) method. This therapy teaches children on the autism to follow verbal instructions, respond to other people's words, describe an object, imitate other people's words and movements. (2) The main obstacle to learning Islamic education for autism students is the incomplete target material, because students have difficulty concentrating for a long time. So before students can concentrate, instruction cannot be given. The solution is by modifying the material according to the students 'abilities, compiling creative and varied media so as to attract students' interest to concentrate in the teaching and learning process.
