Dengue is one of the arthropod-borne (arbo) viral diseases transmitted by female mosquitoAedes aegypti. Dengue fever has a wide spectrum of clinical presentation ranging from flu-like illness to severe complicated stage of dengue hemorrhagic fever leading to mortality. This was a retrospective study conducted in a tertiary care hospital in Coastal Karnataka, South India, to know the correlation between the clinical presentation and haematological parameters in the paediatric cases presented with dengue symptoms. A total of 163 paediatric cases who presented fever and dengue-like illness were included in the study. Of which, 69 were confirmed dengue patients. Critical analysis showed that there was a significant difference in the haematological parameters like total leucocyte count, percent differential leucocyte count, and platelets count, in the erythrocyte sedimentation rate (P<0.05to 0.0001). Additionally, when compared to nondengue patients, even the liver function and renal function parameters were significantly deranged (P<0.05to 0.0001). Stratification based on NS1, IgG, and IgM showed significant alterations in the haematological, hepatic, and renal parameters. With respect to the treatment a small percentage of patients, that is, 8% (4 patients), required platelet transfusion as their counts went below 20,000/μL. Two patients succumbed to their illness while three required ICU stay.

The purposes of this study were to describe cases of feline gastric lymphoma with regards to signalment, clinical presentation, laboratory and ancillary study findings, response to therapy, and outcomes and to identify prognostic variables. Sixteen cats with stage I and II gastric lymphoma treated with chemotherapy were included in this study. Seventy-five percent of cats experienced remission. Overall, first remission duration was 108 days. Response to treatment was prognostic as in other types of feline lymphoma. Cats with a complete remission (CR) had longer survival times compared with cats with a partial remission (PR). Sex and treatment with a rescue protocol were found to be prognostic with castrated males having longer survivals than spayed females. Cats that received rescue chemotherapy had shorter first remission durations than those that did not. Prior treatment with steroids and stage were not found to be significant prognostic variables. This study characterizes gastric lymphoma treated with chemotherapy in cats. Further studies are needed to determine the comparative efficacy of surgical and chemotherapeutic treatments for feline gastric lymphoma.

Aim: Gross hematuria due to prostate cancer is an important clinical presentation and it is necessary to collect, analyze and determine certain criteria and data in the diagnosis and management of prostatic cancer. The aim of the present study is to find out the frequency of gross hematuria and to correlate it with gross hematuria and serum Prostatic Specific Antigen (PSA).in prostatic cancer patients. Materials and Methods: A retrospective study was done in patients diagnosed with prostatic cancer in Hawari center for urology in Benghazi Libya from 2011 up to 2017.  60 cases were taken for the present study. The data such as age of the patient, first complaint such as gross hematuria, serum PSA  levels, histopathology result, the types of therapy received (medical or surgical) were analyzed from these Libyan patients. Results: 25 percent cases in the present study had gross hematuria and there was positive correlation between gross hematuria, serum PSA levels and Gleason score. Conclusion: The result of this study indicate that the presentation of hematuria is not uncommon in prostate cancer. Therefore, it may be necessary to estimate serum PSA levels and do digital rectal examination (DRE) for men aged between 50-70 years old for early diagnosis and management of prostate cancer.

Background: Contact dermatitis (CD) is a skin inflammatory caused by allergen or irritant that generates public health impact. CD is classified into two types, based on its etiological perspective, namely allergic contact dermatitis (ACD) due to a hypersensitivity type IV reaction and irritant contact dermatitis (ICD), which is a non-immunological reaction. Purpose: To determine the profile of CD patients at Dermatology and Venereology Outpatients Unit of Dr. Soetomo General Academic Hospital Surabaya in January 2018 – December 2019. Methods: A retrospective study by observation and recording data. The results of the data recap were then processed using Microsoft Excel to obtain conclusions.  Result: The results obtained were ACD (61.9%) and ICD (38.1%), aged 26-45 years (32.7%), female (79.3%). The most frequent occupation was housewives (25.3%), followed by private employees (24.5%). The most suspected causative substance was cosmetic (47.7%). The most common skin disease history was food allergy (11%), followed by drug allergy (2.8%), and atopic dermatitis (2.3%). The most frequent manifestation was acute (69.8%), with the most clinical presentation was erythematous macules (35%). Most therapies were given in combination (73.6%), with antihistamines (61%) and topical corticosteroids (49.2%) were the most prescription drug. Conclusion: ACD was more common than ICD, mostly in a female, dominated in the 26-45 years old. Housewife was the most occupational. Cosmetic was the most suspected causative substance. Food allergy was the most skin disease history. Acute was the most frequent manifestation. Erythematous macules were the most clinical presentation. Antihistamine and corticosteroid are the most common drug in combination therapy.
