This article contextualizes the use of comics for norm-critique by considering the field of comics pedagogy, and in particular the pedagogical comics of Lynda Barry. Barry’s comics pedagogy, described in her works What It Is (2008) and Syllabus (2014), is inspired by the spontaneous drawing exercises of Ivan Burnetti, and rooted in her theory of the image as an embodied, living experience. I moreover discuss the parallel developments of norm-critical pedagogy and feminist comics in Sweden in order to explore comics as a medium for questioning the norms of gender and identity in visual media. The article shows how many contemporary Swedish graphic novels lend themselves to a norm-critical approach that challenges conventional representations of gender and identity through an aesthetics of play and surprise, in part by way of the influence of Barry’s pedagogical works in Swedish comics publications and comics curricula. Rather than mainstreaming or institutionalizing norm-critique, contemporary feminist comics actively involve the reader in a dialogic process of challenging and reimagining dominant norms of representation.

This chapter compares two films that reinterpret Bram Stoker’s 1897 novel Dracula and its vampire in different ways. Francis Ford Coppola’s Bram Stoker’s Dracula (1992) parodies a nostalgic and orientalist perspective on debates about the place of the Middle East in the formation of US transnational identity and history, whereas Ana Lily Amirpour’s A Girl Walks Home Alone at Night (2014) moves towards this history’s radical revision. Coppola imagines a “vampire ayatollah” during the first US invasion of Iran’s neighbor Iraq; Amirpour, as a feminist hijabi in the sonic space of Tehrangeles. The filmmakers’ familial trajectories underscore Hollywood’s transnational constitution as linked to US policy. The comparison develops a critical approach for how vampires serve as both object and mode of analysis throughout the book. Stoker’s tropes of blood, bodies, and borders map onto US laws concerning race, immigration, and assimilation.

Resumen: Este artículo va a indagar en los significados del crimen en los tiempos que corren. Lo que se pretende es partir de la observación del crimen para llegar a reflexionar no sólo sobre las condiciones hodiernas de coexistencia de los sujetos sino especialmente sobre su condición misma de existencia. El crimen será pensado en sus interconexiones con la exclusión social. Se va a trabajar con un enfoque crítico de la posmodernidad, que examina su nivel mucho más elevado y profundo de extracción de riqueza y expropiación de los sujetos, reflexionando así sobre su capacidad de alienarlos incluso de sí mismos. Se discutirá sobre la presencia de anomia en la posmodernidad y su instrumentalización para fines de control social. La teoría criminológica de la anomia de RobertK. Thinking about postmodernity, anomie and crime Summary:This article will investigate the meanings of crime at present times. From the observation of crime, will be thought about not only the hodiern conditions of coexistence of the subjects but especially about their condition of existence. Crime will be taken into consideration in its interconnections with social exclusion. It will be worked with a critical approach to postmodernism, which examines its much higher and deeper level of extraction of wealth and expropriation of subjects, with the propose to think about its ability to alienate them even from themselves. The presence of anomie in postmodernity and its instrumentalization for purposes of social control will be discussed. The criminological theory of the anomie of Robert K. Research has shown that using graphic novels in the classroom is one of useful approaches to promote the understanding of learners especially for lengthy and difficult literature texts. This study reports the extent of graphic novel in facilitating students’ understanding of literature and the students’ perceptions towards using graphic novel in learning literature (L2) as compared to other genre of texts. This is a mixed method study which employs quantitative and qualitative methods to obtain data. The findings indicate that most students found that graphic novel helped them to enrich their vocabularies and understand the text better. The findings also reveal that students were attracted to the illustrations in the literature text in which this helps to boost their motivation to learn literature in the classroom. The findings provide useful insights for English as Second Language (ESL) teachers in incorporating and expanding the literature learning through graphic novels in the future. The findings also imply the need of ESL teachers to use graphic novels effectively in facilitating their teaching and learning of literature in L2 classrooms particularly to suit the 21<sup>st</sup> century teaching and learning.

The pivotal insight that paved Conrad-Martius’ (1880–1966) (CM) way in elucidating the ontological exclusivity of the I, denoted as “I-adhering being” (Ichhaftes Sein), is that despite its peculiarity and incomparability to any other mode of being, only the ontological foundations of the real being in general might enable a faithful comprehension of the I. The phenomenological interpretation suggested in this article presents CM’s ontological understanding of the I vis-a-vis her philosophy of Being, in particular in regard to three of its general characteristics – existence, intelligibility, and self-adherence (Sichheit/Selbsthaftigkeit) – which provide the critical approach to the ontological study of the I. Finally, the understanding of the ontological exclusivity of the I-adhering being is achieved by means of an explication of the joining together of its typical affinities and discrepancies in regard to Being in general.

Статья посвящена анализу того, как постструктуралистские представления о «тексте» и «текстуальном» влияют на академическую библеистику и традиционную экзегезу. Автор на множестве примеров показывает, что критический настрой философии Деррида помогает читателю Писания, придерживающегося традиционных для религиозных общин (христианство, иудаизм) принципов толкования, отстоять своё право на подобную герменевтическую программу перед лицом библейской критики и вызовов академического рационализма. При исследовании этого влияния автор опирается на работы известных французских философов: Жака Деррида, Юлии Кристевой, Ролана Барта. The article is devoted to the analysis of how post-structural notions of «text» and «textuality» influence academic biblical studies and traditional exegesis. The author shows, through a variety of examples, that the critical approach of Derrida’s philosophy helps the reader of Scripture who adheres to the traditional principles of traditional interpretation to defend his right to such a hermeneutic program in the face of biblical criticism and the challenges of academic rationality. In studying this influence, the author draws on the works of famous French philosophers: Jacques Derrida, Julia Kristeva, Roland Bart.
