Abstract For the teacher of translation in a Nigerian University French Class, the primary objective is to teach the French Language. Thus there is need to clearly defi ne the objectives of translating vis-a-vis French. Our research reveals fuzziness in terms of objectives and "unevenness’’ in text typologies translated in class. Examination questions and evaluation of translated texts also portrayed arbitrariness. As for the teaching of translation, it can be encapsulated by the Jakobsonian approach of interlingual, intersemiotic and intralingual translation.

The increase in economic globalization has created the need for the promotion of foreign languages in Nigeria. As an official second language in Nigeria, the French language has not received the desired attention in the countrys educational system as most students show less motivation and interest in learning the French language. Perhaps, insinuations suggest a widespread negative attitude towards the teaching and learning of the French language in the school system. Thus, the primary objective of the present study was to explore parental attitudes as a factor that could predict the variation in students motivation and interest in learning the French language. The studys participants included adults identified as parents, and they were randomly pooled from different locations in Kogi State, Nigeria. They completed a self-report measure to ascertain their overall attitude towards the French language. A cross-sectional survey design was adopted, and the simple regression analysis revealed that parental attitude significantly predicted students motivation and interest in learning French. The study concluded that parents attitude is an essential determinant of students motivation and interest in learning the French language.

. Following the question posed by Maria Hermínia Laurel in her excellent article entitled “Lectures d’écrivains: ‘vision du monde’ et référents littéraires dans la correspondance d’Alice Rivaz” (2010), we propose to question the auctorial constructions that conceal Alice Rivaz's correspondence. Swiss author of the French language, she multiplies the constructions of a self-author not only in her literary work, which she will sign with a pen name, but also in her prolific correspondence with three contemporary Swiss authors, which we propose to study here. ABSTRACT. This study discusses the use of French language among 20 Indonesian master students and PhD students who join the collaboration program between a university in Indonesia and in France. The study aims to describe their representations in using French language, and their perception on interacting with native speakers and with “exoling” environment as well. The data is collected by distributing questionnaire via email. The data analysis is formulated using the theories of social representation of languages and learning. The result shows that the students’ language skills and knowledge develop through the “exoling” interaction. For this students, it is necessary to add the number of hours of French class (FLE training) and to increase the frequency of linguistic practice during the class, since it appears to be the main place where they communicate with their teacher, who is, for them, a competent interlocutor of the target language. Keywords: interaction, language, linguistics knowledge’s and skills, representations, develop.

This article is a part of contemporary researches in didactics of writing, especially those who are based on the question of reader-writer subject. The study aims to overcome, theoretically and methodologically speaking, students’ motivation difficulties in French class as a foreign language, by taking into didactic account the part of imagination in writing, beside its strictly linguistic or technical dimensions. This study investigates the corpus of students’ writing productions, also it will examine the effects of a rewriting phase on investment strategies of subjects in their writings. The study shows that we have integrated the plan of imagination and creativity into the writings prepared by the learners, but also we have recorded an improvement of nearly 40% in terms of formal and structural aspect of the French language. Keywords : didactics of writing, invention writing, reader-writer subject, rewriting, didactical transposition

This paper begins by aligning with the position of some curriculum theorists that curriculum is a set of learning opportunities and experiences organized to enable the learners in an educational system to attain societal aspirations and values, one of these being development which begins at the individual level, with the attainment of self-actualization and fulfilment, including a fulfilling employment. The paper then reviews the University French studies curriculum in Nigeria from its inception, and reveals that from the 1990s, the B.A. (French) curriculum in particular has increasingly produced unemployed graduates because the curriculum has equipped them with unemployable skills and competencies. “Français de spécialités” is proposed as a curriculum content innovation that would give the learner employable skills and competencies. A B.A. degree curriculum which combines the study of French language with that of another discipline whose specialized French language the learner wants to master is proposed as an effective strategy for the pedagogy of “français de spécialités”. Motivated by this researcher’s studies, his Department has adopted and is in the process of implementing this curriculum. The teacher’s innovative disposition is therefore an asset to French studies in Nigeria, especially at the University level where innovative thinking and research are of primary importance.

Article visualizations:

At the present time the primary objective of the electron microscopy group of the Air and Industrial Hygiene Laboratory is the development of a method suitable for use in establishing an air quality standard for asbestos in ambient air and for use in its surveillance. The main concept and thrust of our approach for the development of this method is to obtain a true picture of fiber occurrence as a function of particle size and asbestos type utilizing light and electron microscopy.We have now available an electron micrographic atlas of all asbestos types including selected area diffraction patterns and examples of fibers isolated from air samples. Several alternative approaches for measuring asbestos in ambient air have been developed and/or evaluated. Our experiences in this regard will be described. The most promising method involves: 1) taking air samples on cellulose ester membrane filters with a nominal pore size of 0.8 micron; 2) ashing in a low temperature oxygen plasma for several hours;

Although a previous study in this laboratory determined that Purkinje cells of the rat cerebellum did not appear to be damaged following 30 min of forebrain ischemia followed by 30 min of reperfusion, it was suggested that an increase in rough endoplasmic reticulum (RER) and/or polysomes had occurred in these cells. The primary objective of the present study was to morphometrically determine whether or not this increase had occurred. In addition, since there is substantial evidence that glial cells may be affected by ischemia earlier than other cell types, glial cells also were examined. To ascertain possible effects on other cerebellar components, granule cells and neuropil near Purkinje cells as well as neuropil in the molecular layer also were evaluated in this investigation.
