Abstract Methods of identifying mycotoxins by mass spectrometry are reviewed, with special reference to the value of a complete listing of known fungal metabolites, arranged by molecular weight. Such a list is applied to the identification of various mycotoxins, and mass spectrometry is applied to the structural elucidation of dimethylnidurufin and ostreogrycin A.
