Rod-shaped Fe3O4 nanocrystals have been prepared with a high yield using a facile poly (vinyl pyrrolidone) (PVP)-mediated hydrothermal synthesis method at a low temperature of 90 °C. The formation mechanisms related to the chemical reaction, Fe3O4 nuclei and Fe3O4 rod-shaped crystal growth were discussed in detail. Furthermore, magnetic characterization showed that the Fe3O4 nanorod exhibited a strong magnetic response property, which leads to their potential applications in the bioseparation fields.

We have described simple, high-yield, protocols, which require only commonly accessible equipment, to synthesize a wide range of β-CD derivatives mono-substituted at the secondary face. These derivatives may be useful in their own right, and they are also scaffolds for further modification, and examples of the far broader array of derivatives that may be accessed by these procedures.

AbstractA concise and modular synthesis of pyrrolo[1,2-a][1,6]- and [1,8]naphthyridines by a one-pot two-step reaction consisting of electrophilic acylation followed by an alkyne-carbonyl-metathesis reaction as the final cyclization step is reported. This developed synthetic methodology allows the facile synthesis of these heterocyclic core structures in mainly high overall yields under metal-free conditions. Reaction conditions are carefully optimized and display a novel supplement to access these tricyclic heterocyclic compounds.

In recent years, the transition metal carbonitrides(MXenes) have been widely applied to photoelectric field, and better performance of these applications was achieved via MXene complex structures. In our work, we proposed a MXene core-shell nanosheet composed of a Ti2C (MXene) phase and gold nanoparticles, and applied it to mode-locked and single-frequency fiber laser applications. The optoelectronic results suggested that the performances of these two applications were both improved when MXene core-shell nanosheets were applied. As a result, we obtained a mode-locking operation with 670 fs pulses, and the threshold pump power reached to as low as 20 mW. Besides, a single-frequency laser with the narrowest linewidth of ~1 kHz is also demonstrated experimentally. Our research work proved that MXene core-shell nanosheets could be used as saturable absorbers (SAs) to promote versatile photonic applications.

In recent years, using two-dimensional (2D) materials to realize broadband photodetection has become a promising area in optoelectronic devices. Here, we successfully synthesized SnSe nanosheets (NSs) by a facile tip ultra-sonication method in water-ethanol solvent which was eco-friendly. The carrier dynamics of SnSe NSs was systematically investigated via a femtosecond transient absorption spectroscopy in the visible wavelength regime and three decay components were clarified with delay time of τ1 = 0.77 ps, τ2 = 8.3 ps, and τ3 = 316.5 ps, respectively, indicating their potential applications in ultrafast optics and optoelectronics. As a proof-of-concept, the photodetectors, which integrated SnSe NSs with monolayer graphene, show high photoresponsivities and excellent response speeds for different incident lasers. The maximum photo-responsivities for 405, 532, and 785 nm were 1.75 × 104 A/W, 4.63 × 103 A/W, and 1.52 × 103 A/W, respectively. The photoresponse times were ~22.6 ms, 11.6 ms, and 9.7 ms. This behavior was due to the broadband light response of SnSe NSs and fast transportation of photocarriers between the monolayer graphene and SnSe NSs.

Herein we describle a facile synthesis of sulphonic acid oxime esters in acetonitrile from the corresponding sulphonic acids and oximes catalyzed by the environmental friendly 2-(1H-benzotriazole-1-yl)-1,1,3,3-tetramethyluronium tetrafluoroborate (TBTU) in the presence of triethylamine (TEA) under mild conditions. The present approach offers the advantages of a clean reaction, simple methodology, employing readily available catalyst, short reaction duration, high selectivity and high yield.

Flexible electronic devices have gained significant interest due to their different potential applications. Herein, we report highly flexible, stretchable, and sensitive sensors made of sprayed CNT layer, sandwiched between two polymer layers. A facile fabrication process was employed in which the CNT solution was directly sprayed onto a patterned bottom polymer layer, above which a second polymer layer was casted to get a sandwiched composite structure. Varying amounts of CNT solution (i.e., 10, 25, 40, 70, and 100 mL) were sprayed to get conductive CNT layers of different thicknesses/densities. The physical characteristics of the conductive CNT layers were studied through SEM and optical images. The starting electrical resistance values (without strain) as well as the changes in electrical resistance against human body motions were monitored. The synthesized samples exhibited good response against finger and wrist bending. The conductivity of the samples increased with increase of CNT solution volume while the sensitivity followed the inverse relation, suggesting that the sensors with controlled sensitivity could be fabricated for targeted strain ranges using the proposed method.
