AbstractElectrical conductance measurements are reported for different thiocyanate salts, viz. ammonium thiocyanate (NH4CNS), sodium thiocyanate (NaCNS) and potassium thiocyanate (KCNS), sodium bromide (NaBr), sodium tetraphenylborate (NaBPh4) and tetrabutylammonium bromide (Bu4NBr) in different mole fraction of water-tetrahydrofuran (THF) and water-1,3-dioxolane (1,3-DXL) binary mixtures at 298.15 K. The conductance data have been analyzed by the Fuoss conductance equation in terms of the limiting molar conductance (Λ0), the association constant (KA) and the association diameter (R). The limiting ionic conductances have been estimated from the appropriate division of the limiting molar conductivity value of the “reference electrolyte” Bu4NBPh4. Slight ionic association was found for all these electrolytes in these solvent mixtures. The results have been interpreted in terms of the formation of ion-pairs of ion–solvent interactions and structural changes in the mixed solvents.

Densities and viscosities of R[xNaSCN + (1 - x)Na2S2O3] + (1 - R)H2O systems with R = 0.05, 0.10, 0.14, and 0.18 were measured as functions of mole fraction, x (= 0.0-1.0), and temperature (293.15 <= T/K <= 323.15). A significant mixed anion effect has been observed within the temperature range of the study. The normalized viscosity isotherms were found to detect the mixed anion effect ~1.2 to 3.7 times more than the simple viscosity isotherms. The progressive replacement of S2O32- ions by SCN- ions causes the systems to be less structured and S2O32- ions polarized Na+ ions more towards themselves than towards the SCN- ions. Both these effects govern the variation of the viscosity with mole fraction, x. The mixed anion effect was found to vanish at around R = 0.0106.Key words: mixed anion effect, sodium thiocyanate, sodium thiosulfate, viscosity.

Geopolymer concrete can be the future of the conventional concrete and it can be used as replacement agent instead of conventional concrete in construction work along with that the GPC is eco friendly in nature as it does not emits CO2 in atmosphere so it is helpful to reduce the Greenhouse effect. The material used for the manufacturing of GPC are Binder’s and Actuators. Birder’s are obtained from the thermal power plant also known as fly ash and actuator consist of the sodium silicate and sodium hydroxide, calcium chloride, sodium thiocyanate, potassium thiocyanate, etc. By combing these acceleration and Binder’s with other concrete material the process of Geopolymeration starts. The objective of these study is to give a detailed review on the geopolymer concrete mix design, compressive behavior, flexural and split tensile behavior and chemical acid resistance when immersed in sopheric acid and nitric acid by using various research paper and the test result difference of conventional concrete and geopolymer concrete. Based on that a review is prepared.

Sodium nitroprusside is an antihypertensive agent used frequently in the critical care setting. Recently, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) published a report that led to a labeling change emphasizing the pharmacokinetics of nitroprusside with metabolism to highly toxic cyanide. Although evidence validates that cyanogenesis occurs with nitroprusside administration, prevention and treatment of cyanide poisoning is rarely instituted in clinical practice. Simultaneous infusion of thiosulfate with nitroprusside provides the sulfur donor necessary to prevent cyanide accumulation. Cyanide combines with thiosulfate to form the less toxic sodium thiocyanate, which is then excreted. A 10:1 ratio of nitroprusside to thiosulfate in the infusion eliminates the possibility of cyanide intoxication without altering the efficacy of nitroprusside.

Density and electrical conductance measurements of 0.35[XNaNO3 + (1 − X)KNO3] + 0.65Na2S2O3•5H2O melt were made as functions of temperature and X. Molar volume, V, is found to be additive. The percent deviation of Vext (extrapolated V of the pure solute from the plot of V vs. total added alkali ion fraction) from Vcal (calculated V of the pure solute from its high temperature density data) increases monotonically as the amount of NaNO3 in the hydrate melt increases, thereby manifesting a "structure-forming" tendency of NaNO3. The non-Arrhenius temperature dependence of molar conductance, Λ is analyzed in terms of the Vogel–Tammann–Fulcher (VTF) equation. Mixed alkali effect (MAE) has been observed on Λ and T0 (ideal glass transition temperature). A competitive polarization model has been used to explain the MAE on Λ.
