This work comprises the synthesis of new thioxanthone derivatives containing C-substituted thioxanthone. To obtain these derivatives, the o-mercapto benzoic acid was chosen as the starting material, which was reacted with dry benzene in sulfuric acid (98 %) to produce the thioxanthone (1). The 2,7-(disulfonyl phosphine imine) thioxanthone (4-8) were prepared from reaction of compound (1) with chlorosulfonic acid gave 2,7-(disulfonyl chloride) thioxanthone (2). Treatment of (2) with sodium azide to produce 2,7-(disulfonyl azide) thioxanthone (3). Condensation of (3) with phosphorus compounds afforded compounds (4-8). The 2,7-(disulfonamide) thioxanthone (9-21) was obtained when compound (2) condensed with different aromatic amines, it gave the expected amides (9-21).

Number of new polyester and polyamide are prepared as derivatives from 5,5`-(1,4-phenylene)-bis-(1,3,4-thiadiazole-2-amine) [C1], three series of heterocyclic compounds were synthesized. The first series includes the Schiff base [C2] prepared from the reaction between compound [C1] with p-hydroxy benzaldehyde in presence of acetic acid and absolute ethanol , then these derivatives have reaction with maleic anhydride , phthalic anhydride and sodium azide, respectively to obtain the compounds [C3-5] contaning (oxazepine and tetrazole) rings. The third series of compounds [C1-5] has transformed to their polymers [C6-15] by reaction with adipoyl chloride and glutroyl chloride , respectively. The reaction was followed by T.L.C and identified by FT-IR , 1H-NMR ,C.H.N analysis , softening point , viscosity, TGA , DSC and X-ray.

The new complexes [MoL(S2CNR2)2(Me2SO)NO] (R = Et, L = NCO- or N3-; R = Me, L = NCO-) and (R'4N) [MO(NCO)2(S2CNR2)2NO] (R = R' = Et; R = Me, R' = Me or Et) have been isolated following the reactions of cis MO(S2CNR~)2(NO)2] with sodium azide and potassium cyanate. Use of 15N-labelled azide has confirmed that molybdenum bonded to a single nitrogen atom must be involved in the reduction of this ligand to ammonia and dinitrogen in strong acid.

The synthesis and characterization of three new bis 1-substituted 1H-tetrazoles are described. Two products were synthesized in a single step via a direct heterocyclization of primary amines, methyl orthoester (trymethyl orthoformate), and sodium azide in 30% and 91% yields, respectively. Besides, another one was prepared via a three-step synthetic strategy: SNAr (32%), nitro-group reduction (66%), and primary amine heterocyclization (83%), yielding 18%, overall. The aim behind the synthesis of new tetrazole-containing products is to construct novel MOF-like structures to evaluate their gas capture properties (CO2, CO, and SO2) under relative humidity conditions.

The carboxylated poly[3,3-bis(3-azidomethyl)oxetane] (PBAMO) copolymers (poly(BAMO-carboxylate)) were synthesized by substitution of poly[3,3-bis(3-chloromethyl)oxetane] (PBCMO) with potassium carboxylate and sodium azide in DMSO.

Firstly, toluenesulfonyl cholesterol was synthesized by the reaction of cholesterol and p-toluenesulfonyl chloride, and then reacted with sodium azide to obtain azido-cholesterol. Secondly, propargyl was introduced into the terminal groups of polyethylene glycol (PEG) by the reaction of PEG and bromine propargyl. Lastly, cholesterol-(1,2,3-triazole)-PEG oligomer was prepared by the reaction of the azido-cholesterol and propargyl-PEG via click chemistry using CuSO4.5H2O as a catalyst. The structures of the products were characterized by the FTIR and 1H NMR analysis.

In this study, new 1,4-naphtho- and 5-nitro-1,4-naphtho derivatives containing N- and N,N-substituted groups which has not been reported yet, have been synthesized from 2,3-dichloronaphthalene-1,4-diones (1,9). Compounds of 2-choloro-3-((2,4,6-triflorophenyl)amino)naphthalene-1,4-dione (3) and 2-chloro-3-((4-florophenyl)amino)naphtalene-1,4-dione (7) were obtained by reactions of 2,3-dichloronaphthalene-1,4-dione 1 with 4-fluoroaniline (6) and 2,4,6-trifloroaniline (2), respectively involving a Michael addition. We reported the cyclization reactions of compounds 1 to benzo[g]pirido[3,2-b]quinoxaline-6,11(5H,12H)-dione (5) synthesized. The N-substituted naphthoquinone 7 was reacted with sodium azide in dimethylformamide and 2-florobenzo[b]phenazin-6,11-dione (8) was obtained as the one cyclized compound. Regioisomers 3-(4-(benzo[d][1,3]dioxol-5-ylmethyl)piperazin-1-yl)-2-chloro-5-nitronaphthalene-1,4-dione 11 and 2-(4-(benzo[d][1,3]dioxol-5-ylmethyl)piperazin-1-yl)-3-chloro-5-nitronaphthalene-1,4-dione 12 were obtained from reaction of 2,3-dichloro-5-nitronaphthalene-1,4-dione 9 with 1-piperonylpiperazine (10).
