The new complexes [MoL(S2CNR2)2(Me2SO)NO] (R = Et, L = NCO- or N3-; R = Me, L = NCO-) and (R'4N) [MO(NCO)2(S2CNR2)2NO] (R = R' = Et; R = Me, R' = Me or Et) have been isolated following the reactions of cis MO(S2CNR~)2(NO)2] with sodium azide and potassium cyanate. Use of 15N-labelled azide has confirmed that molybdenum bonded to a single nitrogen atom must be involved in the reduction of this ligand to ammonia and dinitrogen in strong acid.

Novel poly(aryl ether quinoxaline)s (PEQs) were prepared via a two-step procedure. First, poly (ether benzil) (PEB) was synthesized by the polycondensation of 4,4’-difluorobenzil and 4,4’-isopropylidenediphenol.Then, PEB was reacted with 1,2-diaminobenzene and 4,4'-oxydibenzene-1,2-diamine to give the PEQs. The molecular weight of the PEQs could be adjusted easily by varying the molar ratio of 1,2-diaminobenzene to 4,4'-oxydibenzene-1,2-diamine. The PEQs exhibited good solubility in common organic solvents such as NMP, DMAc, DMF, cyclohexanone and chloroform. In addition, the PEQs also had high glass transition (Tg) temperatures and good thermal properties, with an initial thermal decomposition temperature above 475 oC and glass transition temperatures above 210 oC. They also exhibited excellent resistance to strong acid and alkali.

This work comprises the synthesis of new thioxanthone derivatives containing C-substituted thioxanthone. To obtain these derivatives, the o-mercapto benzoic acid was chosen as the starting material, which was reacted with dry benzene in sulfuric acid (98 %) to produce the thioxanthone (1). The 2,7-(disulfonyl phosphine imine) thioxanthone (4-8) were prepared from reaction of compound (1) with chlorosulfonic acid gave 2,7-(disulfonyl chloride) thioxanthone (2). Treatment of (2) with sodium azide to produce 2,7-(disulfonyl azide) thioxanthone (3). Condensation of (3) with phosphorus compounds afforded compounds (4-8). The 2,7-(disulfonamide) thioxanthone (9-21) was obtained when compound (2) condensed with different aromatic amines, it gave the expected amides (9-21).

The sulfimide complex Fe2(CO)6(μ-SNH) (1) reacts with Co2(CO)8 to form a 1:1 mixture of the known clusters FeCo2(CO)9(μ3-S) (2) and FeCo2(CO)9(μ3-NH) (3). The azatetrahedrane 3 may be used as a precursor for the synthesis of the new aza-trimetalla tetrahedranes Fe2Co(CO)9(μ-H)(μ3-NH) (5), CpMoFeCo(CO)8(μ3-NH) (6), CpNiFeCo(CO)6(μ3-NH) (7) and (CpNi)2Fe(CO)3(μ3-NH) (8) which were obtained from exchange reactions of 3 with Na2[Fe(CO)4], Na[CpMo(CO)3] and [CpNi(CO)]2. However, the reactions of 3 with Na2[Fe(CO)4] and Fe3(CO)12 gave Fe3(CO)9(μ-H)2(μ3-NH) (9) only as a minor product in addition to large amounts of Fe3(CO)9(μ-H)2(μ3-S) (10). The 1H NMR spectra of 3 and 5 - 9 show a broadened triplet for the NH proton between δ(1H) 8.21 and 9.53. Chemical shifts δ(14N) were determined most efficiently by heteronuclear 1H {14N} double resonance experiments. The δ(14N) values for aza-trimetalla tetrahedranes (-180 to -202) indicate delocalized bonding between the μ3-bridging nitrogen atom and the metal triangle.

Number of new polyester and polyamide are prepared as derivatives from 5,5`-(1,4-phenylene)-bis-(1,3,4-thiadiazole-2-amine) [C1], three series of heterocyclic compounds were synthesized. The first series includes the Schiff base [C2] prepared from the reaction between compound [C1] with p-hydroxy benzaldehyde in presence of acetic acid and absolute ethanol , then these derivatives have reaction with maleic anhydride , phthalic anhydride and sodium azide, respectively to obtain the compounds [C3-5] contaning (oxazepine and tetrazole) rings. The third series of compounds [C1-5] has transformed to their polymers [C6-15] by reaction with adipoyl chloride and glutroyl chloride , respectively. The reaction was followed by T.L.C and identified by FT-IR , 1H-NMR ,C.H.N analysis , softening point , viscosity, TGA , DSC and X-ray.
