Three Components

Computers and technology now enable the writer of a form letter to insert significant personal information about the individual recipient, the purpose of which is to induce compliance with the sender's purposes. This article is based on a project in producing medical advice letters tailored to individuals. Our evaluations, like other preliminary studies, suggest that individualizing such letters does improve compliance over the conventional (impersonal) form letter. In considering the inner logic of the individualized letter, different methods of forming personalized letters are presented: adding text, subtracting text, and rearranging text. It is shown how the requisite information can be represented by a questionnaire, a diagram, and the printed letter itself. These three components are logically connected so that the user can make various choices and letters can be quickly formulated. Finally, advice is offered to technical writers embarking on the development of an individualized form letter, with some general reflections about the future of this innovation.

Customers increasingly demand that companies offer a wide variety of products and services. As a result, many companies spend millions of dollars conducting profitability analyses of their customers. For instance, the banking industry alone spends an estimated $500 million per year on customer profitability analyses. Accordingly, customer profitability analysis is listed as one of the recent major developments in managerial accounting (Cotton 2005). Customer profitability analysis refers to the practice of estimating the profitability of individual customers and identifying both customers that create value for the company and, just as importantly, those customers that destroy value. Effective customer profitability analysis provides the company with a strong competitive advantage by improving key strategic and operating decisions involving customer selection and retention. For example, Sprint Nextel drew the attention of investors, analysts, and customers alike when it “fired” 1,000 of its worst customers via a form letter (Srivastava 2007). This case reflects the experiences of several international companies in the automotive supply industry and provides you with an opportunity to enhance your knowledge about customer profitability. First, the case demonstrates the importance of customer profitability analysis. Second, the case enhances your ability to perform customer profitability analysis. Third, it helps you improve your critical thinking and analytical reasoning skills. Finally, the case enables you to integrate business knowledge across functional boundaries.

Learning local languages (Java) for SMP student is not always a filed of study that is easily accepted and inderstood. Java language study material that is difficult for students to master one is writing with Java script. The things that make student difficult writing Java script is a form letter, distinguishing letters, and put the letter. Therefore, measures to overcome the difficulties of the student is to find a method of learning to write Java script quickly and easily. Mnemonic method is a strategy or techniques that are studied to help the performance of memory. Mnemonic methods has a wide variety of techniques. In the learning to write Java script, techniques that can be used is the technique of imajery visual and technical categories. The technique is a techniques based on the grouping of categories, where as the technique is of imajery visual is a technique to imagine other objects.

I am in receipt of your form letter to all members of the Academy dated March 2, 1948 with the appended report of the American Academy of Pediatrics' "Committee for the Improvement of Child Health." I note with despair that this report was approved by the Academy's Executive Board, Chicago, February 8, 1948. I cannot tell you how stunned and staggered I was as I read this vicious document which has received official approval by our Executive Board. I could not believe my eyes. Now that I have recovered from the initial shock somewhat, I wish to inform you of my complete, total, uncompromising disgust with this stupid and visionary report, and the clear implication that control of Academy affairs and of the pediatric survey have fallen into the hands of persons committed to the collectivist social philosophy. No one is more desirous of the "good life" than I am. No one is more anxious than I for every child in America to have the best of pediatric care and guidance, and an ample share of all the other attributes of a full and abundant life. But only an impractical dreamer could write a report such as this or believe for one instant that adoption of any part of its recommendations could lead to anything but compulsion, coercion, bureaucracy, stateism, and despotism. The report clearly, baldly, and unequivocally cleaves to the communist social philosophy. I don't! Therefore, please be advised that through my own personal sense of responsibility to the young men and women who choose medicine as a profession, to our honored profession itself, to the American children under my care now and in the future, to the concept of the dignity and worth of the individual, to my conviction that mankind can attain its future high destiny and maintain progress in that direction only through personal liberty under law, I am compelled to proffer my resignation from the American Academy of Pediatrics to become effective immediately, when and if this disastrous report or any part thereof is adopted by the Academy.
