ABSTRACT I examine a dataset of both quantitative (hard) adjustments to firms' reported U.S. GAAP financial statement numbers and qualitative (soft) adjustments to firms' credit ratings that Moody's develops and uses in its credit rating process. I first document differences between firms' reported and Moody's adjusted numbers that are both large and frequent across firms. For example, primarily because of upward adjustments to interest expense and debt attributable to firms' off-balance sheet debt, on average, adjusted coverage (cash flow-to-debt) ratios are 27 percent (8 percent) lower and adjusted leverage ratios are 70 percent higher than the corresponding U.S. GAAP ratios. I then find that Moody's hard and soft rating adjustments are associated with significantly higher credit spreads and flatter credit spread term structures. Overall, the results indicate that Moody's quantitative adjustments to financial statement numbers and qualitative adjustments to credit ratings enable it to better capture default risk, consistent with it effectively processing both hard and soft information.

SYNOPSIS We examine the decision relevance of a commonly suggested adjustment to how state governments report governmental pension liabilities by recalculating such pension liabilities using the return on a portfolio of high-quality municipal bonds as the discount rate. Calculated as the difference between the state's expected rate of return and the municipal bond return, we find that the discount rate adjustment associates with lower credit ratings and higher interest costs. We also find that credit rating agencies are more likely to issue conflicting ratings when the calculation of the discount rate adjustment involves greater uncertainty. Overall, while financial statement users agree about the need for and the direction of a pension liability rate adjustment, there is less consensus about the proper magnitude of this adjustment, suggesting that current accounting treatment of pensions in the public sector leads to costly uncertainty among financial statement users.

Financial statements are the mirror which reflects the financial position, strength and weakness of the company. Financial statements of the company helps to know how a business is doing and how it’s useful internally for a company- stock holders and to its board of directors, its managers and some employees including labour unions, externally they are important to perspective investors, to government agencies responsible for taxing and regulating, to lenders such as banks and credit rating agencies & investment analysts & stock brokers. On the basis of financial Report here I compared the financial performance of the PHARMACEUTICAL INDUSTRY, particular CADILA HEALTH CARE and SUN PHARMACEUTICAL companies through ratio analysis. The result indicates that Cadila is doing much better on its EPS, however, one warning from the FDA got both the companies on almost the same track. Despite Cadila having higher numbers in the ratios and financials, we cannot help but notice the greater and consistent rise in the financials and ratios of Sun Pharma. Sun Pharma is consistently almost constant or rising in terms of managing its working capital, unlike Cadila which has seen some abrupt changes. Both the companies have tried to keep debt lower than its equity, hinting at the fact that pharmaceutical companies do not want timely interest obligation owing to their long cash conversion cycles and need of R&D.

This study aimed to examine the effect of demographic factors and organizational climate on the intention of internal whistleblowing. The sample was an accountant who had worked as an auditor. Data collection methods using questionnaires with financial statement fraud case scenarios. This research use ANOVA data analysis method to examine demographic factors include age, gender, and experience, as well as organizational climate on the intention of internal whistleblowing. The results showed only the experience of demographic factors that influence internal whistleblowing. The Impact

The reporting of comprehensive income is becoming increasingly important. After the introduction of Other Comprehensive Income (OCI) reporting, as required by the 2007 IAS 1-revised, the IASB is currently seeking inputs from investors on the usefulness of unrealized gains and losses and on the role of comprehensive income. This circumstance is of particular relevance in code law countries, as local pre-IFRS accounting models influence financial statement preparers and users. This study aims at investigating the role played by unrealized gains and losses reporting on users' decision process, by examining the impact of OCI on the Italian listed companies RoE ratio and by surveying a sample of financial analysts, also content analysing their formal reports. The results show that the reporting of comprehensive income does not affect the financial statement users' decision process, although it statistically affects Italian listed entities' performance.

Hospital was established to serve the medical needs of the citizen. In addition to serving, hospitals also need to explore the benefits for the sustainability and the development of the hospital. To achieve financial reports have involved a large role. Accounting information system computer-based accounting will help serving the financial reports, so that more accurate and faster. Errors can be diminished.  Research object is selected by the author to conduct research is Bogor Rumah Sakit Islam. A hospital that is located on Jl. Perdana Raya. 22 Budi Agung, Jakarta Utara. This hospital was established on May 12, 1991. The location is strategic as it is in the center of Bogor. In doing activity, accounting information system based on computerized accounting still not yet common use. Computer already exist but support application to create an accurate and fast financial statement does not exist. So much weaknesses if we still using manual method. Like slowly processing data, still using much worker and much step while processing. The information result is still contained high mistake. To solve all problems above we need accounting software as tool for accounting division. For that I try to apply computerized accounting using Microsoft Excel for helping creating financial statement. By doing observation and interview with related employee, this research can do well. Journalize transaction process by using Microsoft Excel is to make a column for each transaction such as Journal Voucher, General Ledger, Balance Sheet. After making a column, the next step is inputing achievement data to Journal Voucher. After inputing data, General Ledger and Balance Sheet can automatically fill up. By using computer, processing data is more faster, information result is more accurately, human resource is less needed. Related management can get information they need more faster, because amount recalculated every doing transaction.
