Deuteron NMR spectroscopy is a suitable method to study dynamical heterogeneities in protic ionic liquids. In the 2H spectra of the protic ionic liquid [TEA][OTf] we observe anisotropic and isotropic signals at the same time.

Michael addition reaction of acetylacetone and cyclohexenone has been studied using 1,8-diazabicyclo[5.4.0]-undec-7-ene (DBU) based protic ionic liquids and their binary systems with DBU, water and acetic acid as catalysts.

Ionic liquids (ILs) are highly tailorable solvents with many potential applications. Knowledge about their solvation properties is highly beneficial in the utilization of ILs for specific tasks, though for many ILs this is currently unknown.

Micelle formation of a non-ionic amphiphile, C12E6, was investigated in a diverse range of molecular solvents and protic ionic liquids (PILs). A link between the solvent cohesive energy density and the free energy of micellization was discussed.
