This paper discusses the phenomenon of tadhad in Arabic. Tadhad is a lingual phenomenon that is unique in Arabic and has not been found in other languages. It is a word that has two conflicting meanings. In the dialectic of thought, scholars differed on the existence of tadhad in Arabic. Some of them agree and others deny it. Both parties expressed their arguments with the various arguments they used. Among the factors of the emergence of  Al-Tadhad are as follows: (1) The origin of a sentence is used in the opposite general meaning; (2) Tadhad arises because of the social factors found in the Arabs. Among these factors are tafaa'ul (wishing good) and tahakkum (mocking); (3) Harmony between two words in one shighat sharfiyah (a form of changing words); (4) Differences in the ranks of the Arab tribes in using a sentence (5) Language development. Examples of the application of tadhad in Arabic can be found in various verses in the Qur'an.

This paper discusses the patterns and strategies of the Arabic Language and Literature Department of the Faculty of Adab and Humanities in developing language politeness in the lecture process. The author collects data from the lecture process (presentation of papers and questions and answers) of Naqd Adabi II course which is carried out by students of class 2014. Data is collected using record and note techniques, analyzed by referring to the theory of positive politeness expressed in pragmatics. It can be concluded that the positive politeness strategy used by the UIN IB Padang Arabic Language and Literature students is as follows: (1) using group identity markers using specifically 'we' and 'BSA students' expressions; (2) Exaggerating the attention, approval, and sympathy to the opponent's speech by using the phrase 'extraordinary' and 'indeed reaching to the core of the problem' as an appreciation to the opponents of speech; (3) Avoiding disagreement by pretending to agree, pseudo agreement, cheating for good (white lies), and hedging opinions by using a fenced phrase 'on one side' and contradicting the agreement he had expressed before using the expression 'but'

If someone wants to get a good quality translation, a translator cannot add or reduce the meaning contained in the source language because it is affected by the original form of the target language. Translation is a bridge between the writer of source language text and the target language reader to make the text come naturally appropriate in the target language. This is certainly different when the results of a translation are still too related to the language and culture of the source. The translation will be wrong and rigid. A translator must master the translation strategy, namely: collocation, domestication and technicality. As well as aspects that must be understood, namely: accuracy, readability and acceptability. This can also be a reference for students in finding solutions to problems in translating difficulties, especially for the Arabic Language and Literature students.

This study applies a syntactic approach in the modern linguistic literature on Arabic lingual data. In the perspective of contemporary linguistic schools, the application of syntactic studies to Arabic is rarely done by reviewers. The complexity of the grammatical structure of Arabic is one of the important reasons. Through this study, the author wants to break this assumption. A structural syntactic approach can be applied to examine the Arabic sentences as well as in other languages. Structural analysis that emphasizes the analysis of direct constituents can still be applied to Arabic which has many specific characteristics. Using an analytical model introduced by Bloomfield, Harris, and Hocket, direct constituent analysis is proven to be applicable to Arabic.
