Blepharoplasty is a demanding cosmetic surgery. When surgery is being considered, ophthalmic tests, such as visual acuity, eye pressure and tear film, are important. Additional treatments have been incorporated to the traditional surgical procedure to improve periorbital skin of which the most accepted is laser resurfacing. In this study, the authors report their experience with 63 patients operated on between 2014 and 2020 and propose an algorithm to apply Er:YAG laser to the eyelid skin.

Objective: Skin health, skin appearance and skin beauty are influenced by collagen composition of the dermis. Natural aging affects the structural integrity of the collagen network, resulting in drier skin, wrinkle formation and reduced skin elasticity. Orally ingested hydrolyzed collagen reaches the skin tissue and exerts beneficial effects on human skin from within. However, not only collagen peptides, but also micronutrients can beneficially affect skin appearance. Thus, dietary supplements for cosmetic and beauty effects containing combinations of collagen peptides and selected micronutrients are in demand. Aim of this study was to investigate the effect of a food supplement with collagen hydrolysate and micronutrients on skin beauty. The test product was assessed for its capability to reduce wrinkles and to improve skin hydration and collagen structure.

Background: Calcium hydroxylapatite (CaHA) based soft-tissue filler (Radiesse® , Merz) is categorised as a biodegradable collagen-stimulating implant. It is comprised of a suspension of 25-45 micron diameter microspheres of CaHA(30%) in a carboxymethylcellulose (CMC) gel carrier (70%) and is one of the most well researched soft-tissue fillers. However, great discrepancies exist in the literature regarding the duration of clinical effect with the implant, ranging from only 6 to 24 months.

Pyogenic granuloma is a vascular lesion of the skin commonly found in children and young adults. It is known to erupt following skin laceration or penetrating injury, but is only rarely reported in children after a burn injury.

Introduction: Over many years now, our team has been convinced that the injection depths indicated by authors in published studies on intradermal injection therapy are incorrect. This paper sought to compare skin thickness data derived from ultrasonography with literature data obtained via histological examination and magnetic resonance imaging.
