International audience Le modèle AM2b est classiquement représenté par un système d'équations différentielles. Toutefois ce modèle n'est valide qu'en grande population et notre objectif est d'établir plusieurs mo-dèles stochastiques à différentes échelles. À l'échelle microscopique, on propose un modèle sto-chastique de saut pur que l'on peut simuler de fa con exacte. Mais dans la plupart des situations ce genre de simulation n'est pas réaliste, et nous proposons des méthodes de simulation approchées de type poissonnien ou de type diffusif. La méthode de simulation de type diffusif peut être vue comme une discrétisation d'une équation différentielle stochastique. Nous présentons enfin de fa con infor-melle un résultat de type loi des grands nombres/théorème central limite fonctionnelle qui démontre la convergence de ses modèles stochastiques vers le modèles déterministe initial. The model AM2b is conventionally represented by a system of differential equations. However, this model is valid only in a large population context and our objective is to establish several stochastic models at different scales. At a microscopic scale, we propose a pure jump stochastic model that can be simulated exactly. But in most situations this exact simulation is not feasible, and we propose approximate simulation methods of Poisson type and of diffusive type. The diffusive type simulation method can be seen as a discretization of a stochastic differential equation. Finally, we formally present a result of law of large numbers and of functional central limit theorem which demonstrates the convergence of these stochastic models towards the initial deterministic models.

The role of genericity in the history of dynamical systems theory

This article examines the role of genericity in the development of dynamical systems theory. In his memoir ‘Sur les courbes définies par une équation différentielle’, published in four parts between 1881 and 1886, Henri Poincaré studied the behavior of curves that are solutions for certain types of differential equations. He successfully classified them by focusing on singular points, described the trajectories’ behavior in important particular cases and provided new methods that proved to be extremely useful. This article begins with a discussion of singularity theory and its influence on the first definitions of genericity, along with the application of the notions of structural stability and genericity to understand dynamical systems. It also analyzes the Smale conjecture and how it was proven wrong and concludes with an overview of changes in the definitions of genericity meant to describe the ‘dark realm of dynamics’.

COMPORTEMENT AU VOISINAGE DE 1 DE LA FONCTION DE RÉPARTITION DE φ(n)/n

Let φ denote Euler's totient function, and G be the distribution function of φ(n)/n. Using functional equations, it is shown that φ(n)/n is statistically close to 1 essentially when prime factors of n are large. A function defined by a difference-differential equation gives a quantitative measure of the statistical influence of the size of prime factors of n on the closeness of φ(n)/n to 1. As a corollary, an asymptotic expansion at any order of G(1)-G(1-ε) is obtained according to negative powers of log (1/ε), when ε tends to 0+. This improves a result of Erdős (1946) in which he gives the first term of it. By optimally choosing the order of this expansion, an estimation of G(1)-G(1-ε) is deduced, involving an error term of the same size as the best known error term involved in prime number theorem. Nous obtenons un résultat mesurant l'influence statistique de la taille du plus petit facteur premier d'un entier générique n quant à la proximité de φ(n)/n par rapport à 1. Ce résultat met en jeu une fonction définie par une équation différentielle aux différences. Nous en déduisons un développement limité à tout ordre de G(1)-G(1-ε) selon les puissances de 1/(log 1/ε), améliorant ainsi un résultat d'Erdős (1946) dans lequel il obtient le premier terme de ce développement. Une troncature convenable de ce développement fournit un terme d'erreur comparable à celui actuellement connu pour le théorème des nombres premiers.
