The development of farmers cooperative in the potato agribusiness system in Batur Subdistrict, Banjarnegara

Farmers’ corporations are a form of farmer economic empowerment that unites all farmer resources and manages them in an integrated management. Batur Subdistrict, is one of the potato-producing centers in Banjarnegara District. This paper aims to analyze the potential for developing farmer corporations in the potato agribusiness system in Batur Subdistrict, Banjarnegara. The Farmer Corporation Model developed refers to the Ministry of Agriculture No. 18 of 2018, which is in the form of cooperatives or other legal entities with the majority of capital ownership by farmers. The data comes from the results of the 2020 study. Respondents consist of potato farmers, administrators of the Dieng Farmers Union (SPD), owners of subsidized fertilizer shop, potato seed breeders, agricultural extension workers, potato marketing actors, and managers of Agribusiness Microfinance Institutions (LKMA). Data analysis was carried out qualitatively and quantitatively descriptively by taking into account technical, economic and management aspects. The results of the study indicate that the existing farmer institutions in Batur Subdistrict, both technically, economically, and management have the potential to develop farmer corporations. The corporate model formulated is the growth of primary and secondary cooperatives which include potato seed cooperatives, farming capital cooperatives, potato production facilities cooperatives, and potato marketing cooperatives. The amount of economic value that can be obtained by each potato farmer with the existence of a corporation ranges from Rp. 1.04 - 2.07 million per year. In order for a farmer corporation to run and provide benefits to farmers, support from the government is needed in the form of assistance, business training, and initial capital.

Studi Mitigasi Risiko untuk Meningkatkan Kinerja Subsistem Produksi Kentang di Kota Batu

Horticulture commodities, especially potatoes have a relatively high risk and economic value. Potato farming risks include production risk due to climate anomalies that cause pest and disease attacks, natural disasters, price risk, and other market risks. Knowledge of risk will direct farmers’ behavior on production activities and their farming performance. The objectives of this study were: (1) identify the risks from each potato farmer’s perceptions, (2) evaluate the priority risk for each potato farmer, (3) analyze the production performance of each potato farmer, and (4) compile a risk mitigation strategy potato farmer in Batu City. Research location choosen by multistage cluster sampling from subdistricts to villages that is a potato production’s center. The data were collected by structured interviews. The FAHP was used to analyze the risk faced by potato farmers. Measurement of potato production performance is carried out by analyzing technical efficiency using the DEA BCC model. The risk mitigation strategy is formulated considering risk priorities and the performance achieved by potato farmers. According to results, it is shows that collectively the highest risk comes from operational aspect by the score of 0,35. These operational risks can be mitigated by using desease-resistant varieties. Institutional Characteristics of Supporting Potato Farming in South Sulawesi

Potatoes are one of the commodities that have been prioritized for development which considered as a source of carbohydrates, highly nutritious and have the potential for food diversification. In this case the institutional activities of potato farmers may contribute to support their agribusiness aspects. The purpose of the study was to analyze the feasibility of potato farming as well as to characterize the farmer institutions. Data collection was carried out through FGD (Focus Group Discussion) with 25 respondents of potato farmer group members and secondary data as supporting data. The survey was conducted in 2017 in South Sulawesi Province. Data were analyzed descriptively and R/C ratio was measured to determine the potato farming feasibility. The results showed that potato farming was feasible economically. The farmers were mostly active in supporting institutional activities, including group meeting activities, paying fees and extension activities.

Factors Affecting Farmers' Decisions to Use Certified Granola Potato Seeds in Parbuluan District, Dairi Regency

Agricultural products, including potatoes, are still faced with several problems with fluctuations and quite high price sensitivity, mainly due to changes in demand and supply. Decreased (degenerative) production occurs because of the disease that accumulates in each generation of potato seeds and continues to be carried over to the next generation. So that certified potato seeds are needed to increase farmers' production. This study will analyze the influence of the factors of farmer age, education level, farming experience, productivity, seed price, land area, farmer group participation in influencing farmers' decisions to use certified potato seeds. From the total population of potato farmers as many as 365 farmers in Parbuluan District, Dairi Regency, North Sumatra, testing was carried out on 78 samples with the results that the variables of productivity, price, farmer group participation had a significant effect on the use of certified potato seeds, while the variables of age, education, experience, area Land does not have a significant effect on the use of certified potato seeds and productivity, price, farmer group participation, age, education, experience, and land area all influence farmers' decisions to use certified potato seeds. ANALISA KADAR CHOLINESTERASE DALAM DARAH DAN KELUHAN KESEHATAN PADA PETANI KENTANG KILOMETER XI KOTA SUNGAI PENUH

Pesticides are substances used to kill or control the sharing of pests, said pestisida derived from the word pest which means pest and word cide which means killer, so simply the pesticide is defined as a pest killer that is mites. Cholinitesrase is a liver enzyme used to help determine whether liver function is still good or not. When cholinesterase levels decrease, there is impaired liver function. The type of research used for this research is descriptive, population and sample of research are potato farmer in Kilometer XI Kota Sungai Penuh with 30 samples taken is 10ul capillary blood. And the results obtained are 21 people normal levels (70%), 7 people are mild poisoning(23,%%) and 2 people are poisoned(6,7%).

Pengetahuan Tradisional Masyarakat Suku Nyalik tentang Ubi Jalar [Ipomoea batatas (L.) Lam.] di Distrik Silimo, Kabupaten Yahukimo Papua

Nyalik tribe community in Silimo District Yahukimo Regency Papua have traditional knowledge about the sweet potato (Ipomoea batatas (L.) Lam.) applied it in the cultivation. Traditional knowledge is knowledge of local community in an area that a culture tradition handed down from generation to generation. Traditional knowledge about the sweet potato is a wealth of local wisdom in Papua, which need to be investigated, developeds, utilized and conserved the types of sweet potatoes which is quite much and widely spread in Papua. It is important to support local food diversification program and to improve national food security. The method of the research is descriptive qualitative method by doing observation. Data was obtained from the original source of the sweet potato farmer as respondent by using questionnaire and also measurement and documentation in the field. The result showed that Nyalik tribe people have recognized, identified and cultivated 33 types of sweet potatoes and grouped them according to their used into 5 groups: as for baby food or children, adult food, sick person, traditional ceremonies and animal feed. Nyalik tribe community has a traditional knowledge about the sweet potato and cultivation system and also how to overcome the obstacles in sweet potato cultivation. Epidemic Network Analysis for Mitigation of Invasive Pathogens in Seed Systems: Potato in Ecuador

Seed systems have an important role in the distribution of high-quality seed and improved varieties. The structure of seed networks also helps to determine the epidemiological risk for seedborne disease. We present a new approach for evaluating the epidemiological role of nodes in seed networks, and apply it to a regional potato farmer consortium (Consorcio de Productores de Papa [CONPAPA]) in Ecuador. We surveyed farmers to estimate the structure of networks of farmer seed tuber and ware potato transactions, and farmer information sources about pest and disease management. Then, we simulated pathogen spread through seed transaction networks to identify priority nodes for disease detection. The likelihood of pathogen establishment was weighted based on the quality or quantity of information sources about disease management. CONPAPA staff and facilities, a market, and certain farms are priorities for disease management interventions such as training, monitoring, and variety dissemination. Advice from agrochemical store staff was common but assessed as significantly less reliable. Farmer access to information (reported number and quality of sources) was similar for both genders. However, women had a smaller amount of the market share for seed tubers and ware potato.
