Antibacterial activity test and screening of phytochemical of extract hexane, ethyl acetate  and methanol have been carried out. The extraction of the P.pellucida plants was carried out by the maceration method in stages based on the polarity of the solvent. Analysis of chemical compounds done with phytochemical screening test. Based on the identification of chemical compounds by phytochemical screening, hexane and ethyl acetate extract has been detected only in the presence of flavonoid compounds with moderate categories. Methanol  extract contains high-grade alkaloids and moderate flavonoid and tannin compounds. Antibacterial test using disffusion methods suggest that ethyl acetate and methanol extract have categorically strong antibacterial activity againts the S. aureus  of 14 mm and 16 mm respectively. Hexane extract and acetate ethyl have a strong inhibition to  E. coli  of 11 mm and 12 mm respectively. Methanol extract has a weak inhibition to bacteria E. coli  and a hexane extract has a weak inhibition to bacteria S. aureus.

Cholesterol is a natural substance with physical characteristic similar to fat but has a steroidal group. The body requires cholesterol in normal amount; however, it will harm the body in excess amount. High cholesterol levels in the blood are dangerous because of the precipitation of cholesterol and other fatty substances resulting in atherosclerosis. Suji leaf (Dracaena angustifolia Roxb.) used as a natural dye has a high flavonoid content that is inferred to have cholesterol-lowering activity. This study aims to test the in vitro activity of suji leaf (Dracaena angustifolia Roxb.) extract in decreasing cholesterol level with various concentrations and to find the effective concentration (EC50). The method of extraction used was remaceration method with 70% ethanol solvent. Analysis of cholesterol-lowering activity was done by Lieberman-Burchard method by making variation of ethanol extract 400 ppm, 500 ppm, 600 ppm, 700 ppm, and 800 ppm. The results showed the percentage of cholesterol-lowering activity by 33.62%, 36.15%, 46.61%, 56.39% and 64.05% respectively. Value of EC50 activity of suji leaf extract is 632.50 ppm.

The purpose of this study was to determine the antioxidant potential of water extract of corn cobs. Corn cobs wind dried milled while fresh only chopped until smooth then extracted using the reflux method for 0, 1, 2, 3 and 4 hours using distilled water solvent. Analysis of total phenolic content, flavonoids and condensed tannins using UV-Vis spectrophotometer. For the determination of free-radical scavengers using the method of 1.1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH). The results of this study indicate that the dried corn cobs have the best content of total phenolic compounds, flavonoids and DPPH by heating for 4 hours. But, the total condensed tannins are best fresh on corn cob with heating for 4 hours.
