Abstract Background Epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) helps solid tumors to lose their intercellular adhesive property and drives metastasis. As mangosteen fruit is known for many beneficial effects including antimicrobial, antioxidant, and anti-tumorigenic properties and has been used widely in traditional medicine, we interrogated its possible anti-metastatic effect on MCF-7 breast cancer cells. Results We found that aqueous mangosteen rind extract (MRE) inhibited growth of MCF-7 and altered the transcript levels of ERα, ERβ, and EGFR genes. Additionally, the MRE changed the expression of important markers of EMT, E-Cadherin, N-Cadherin, Snail, and MMP-9. Moreover, MRE inhibited migration of MCF-7 cells. Conclusion The results suggest that MRE suppresses growth and inhibits epithelial-mesenchymal transition in MCF-7 cells.

In this paper, we study the phase transition property of an Ising model defined on a special random graph—the stochastic block model (SBM). Based on the Ising model, we propose a stochastic estimator to achieve the exact recovery for the SBM. The stochastic algorithm can be transformed into an optimization problem, which includes the special case of maximum likelihood and maximum modularity. Additionally, we give an unbiased convergent estimator for the model parameters of the SBM, which can be computed in constant time. Finally, we use metropolis sampling to realize the stochastic estimator and verify the phase transition phenomenon thfough experiments.

Stability, dark energy (DE) parameterization and swampland aspects for the Bianchi form-[Formula: see text] universe have been formulated in an extended gravity hypothesis. Here, we have assumed a minimally coupled geometry field with a rescaled function of [Formula: see text] replaced in the geometric action by the Ricci scalar [Formula: see text]. Exact solutions are sought under certain basic conditions for the related field equations. For the following theoretically valid premises, the field equations in this scalar-tensor theory have been solved. It is observed under appropriate conditions that our model shows a decelerating to accelerating phase transition property. Results are observed to be coherent with recent observations. Here, our models predict that the universe’s rate of expansion will increase with the passage of time. The physical and geometric aspects of the models are discussed in detail. In this model, we also analyze the parameterizations of DE by fitting the EoS parameter [Formula: see text] with redshift. The results obtained would be useful in clarifying the relationship between DE parameters. In this, we also explore the correspondence of quintessence DE with swampland criteria. The swampland criteria have been also shown the nature of the scalar field and the potential of the scalar field.

We studied the microstructure and nanomechanical properties of cast samples of the alloy Mg61Cu28Gd11, obtained by the original method. The alloy Mg61Cu28Cd11 is distinguished by a particularly high glass transition property. In this study samples with a diameter of 16 mm were obtained an inert atmosphere with a cooling rate of 1K/s. Liquid alloy Mg61Cu28Gd11 before crystallization was heated to 780 °C. It was previously installed that, with such heating, irreversible structural changes occur in the melt, which increase the tendency of the metal to glass transition. A metallographic study of the microstructure was performed using a scanning electron microscope and EDS-analysis. Nanohardness HV and Young's modulus E Mg2CuCd and Mg2Cu were measured using the nanoindentation method. The microstructure of the Mg61Cu28Cd11 alloy in the cast state consists mainly of Mg2Cu dendrites; the interdendritic space is represented by the Mg2CuCd phase. The presence of exogenous nonmetallic inclusions of a complex composition CdO + CuO + MgO was also established by the method of micro X-ray spectral analysis.Analysis of the measurement data of HV(GPa), E (GPa) gave a conclusion about the same degree of homogeneity of the mechanical properties of dendrites and interdendritic space.
