6G represents standardized communication systems that will be commercially available in 2030s. Even if the initial 5G networks, basing on the 3GPP Release 15, have hardly started become commercially available gradually as of 2019 and their large-scale deployment is still years away, industry is already keen to envision the justification and performance of the forthcoming generation. While there are no concrete 6G standards produced at this stage, their planning will benefit from realistic indications of the requirements and type of usage. The task is not straightforward as users, including a variety of verticals with their rather different communication environments, are sometimes not capable of expressing their future needs in technical terms nor industry might be able to prognosticate the demand that has not yet equivalence in preceding systems. This paper analyses some of the most important current visions of key standardization bodies and assesses indications of the industry for the potential requirements, service types, use cases, and architectural and functional models that can serve as a building block for the actual realization of the visions. This paper also presents means that can be applied in further interpretation and assessment of the vertical needs and priorities, with examples reflecting the benefits of Network Slice requirements that the GSMA North Americas Network Slicing Taskforce studied for foreseen near future environment and that may be extended to be utilized also in exploration of 6G requirements.

Aim. The foundation of symbolization is a substitution: a mediation between a Representamen and Object. The paper leverages this core mechanic to examine the substitutions within the conscious and unconscious parts of the mind, which compose every act of thinking. Recognizing it is a single instance: the Ego, which regulates this parallel mediation, the paper focuses on the exploration of dichotomies that result from the necessity to perform two symbolizations simultaneously. Concepts. The study’s theoretical framework is determined by Charles S. Peirce’s (1998) concept of sign and Melanie Klein’s (1948) psychoanalytic theory. From semiotic and psychoanalytic angles, this paper explores possible comprehensions of the object in the quasi-mind (Interpretant in infinite semiosis) and actual realization of code in the act of individual thinking (Ego mediating between conscious and unconscious symbolization). Results and conclusion. The main result of the study is the exposure of dichotomies that structure the shared ground for the conscious and the unconscious symbolization. This, in turn, highlights tangible constraints that the mind is subjected to in the act of thinking. Cognitive value. The study’s main contribution is the high-level scheme of dynamics that hold the Ego in reality through the means of unconscious and conscious symbolization. The study also incorporates into coherent model unexamined aspects of individual sign usage: it deploys psychic continuity into the conscious symbolization process (by basing the model on the instance of Ego), which allows addressing the issues arising at the border of conscious and unconscious symbolization.

Syntaxonomy of the natural vegetation of the Dniester Canyon, including 20 classes, 30 orders, 44 alliances, and 71 associations, is presented. The natural vegetation of the canyon is formed by communities of the classes Carpino-Fagetea sylvaticae, Quercetea pubescentis, Quercetea robori-petraeae, Alno glutinosae-Populetea albae, Crataego-Prunetea, Festuco-Brometea, Trifolio-Geranietea sanguine, Molinio-Arrhenatheretea, Sedo-Scleranthetea, Phragmito-Magnocaricetea, Bolboschoenetea maritimi, and Isoëto-Nanojuncetea. Grassland vegetation is characterized by the highest syntaxonomic diversity. Quantitative assessment of syntaxonomic diversity in the three-dimensional system of ecological strategies of species according to Ramensky-Grime (CRS) was carried out. Adaptive capabilities, i.e. the potential for possible further development of forest, shrub and grassland habitats, have been assessed. It has been found that the dynamics of forest shrub, grass meadow and steppe communities is determined by successive endoecogenetic processes. In petrophytic communities, fluctuation changes are not manifested and successional changes are rather limited. Significant fluctuations are inherent in floodplain grasslands that depend on the sharp variability of moisture during the growing season. At the same time, it is emphasized that actual realization of these processes depends on influences of external drivers that can be considered as regulatory factors in possible development of syntaxa.

Abstract In this article, we explore the capability of speculative fiction to predict future realized technologies. We review a large set of speculative technologies introduced in speculative fiction to determine if the technologies were subsequently realized. Additionally, we explore the time between the speculated introduction and actual realization. Our dataset for analysis is built from the ‘Technovelgy’ database of speculative technologies. A realization assessment methodology is created that includes detailed rubrics to rate and quantify the predictability or realizability of speculative technologies. Three independent raters perform realization assessments for each entry. An inter-rater agreement analysis is carried out to validate the rating method. Based on the dataset of 3095 speculated technologies, 45% are labeled as ‘realized’ by at least one rater. A moderate overall agreement with a Fleiss’ Kappa of 0.57 is reached by all raters. The average time to realization of realized technologies is approximately 45 years with a standard deviation of approximately 34 years. We observe patterns in the realization of speculative technologies and analyze the underlying reasons preventing the technologies from realization. We conclude that speculative fiction predicts future technologies to such a degree that the introduction of speculative technology can be used as an input to designer decision-making.

Recently, the German state of Baden-Württemberg included ESD as a guiding perspective for all school curricula. Consequently, teacher education needs to empower and motivate student teachers to implement ESD in schools. In previous ESD research, however, the motivational dimension rarely has been investigated. Psychological theories stress the importance of developing an intention for the actual realization of a behavior. Therefore, we investigated, in an online survey (N = 366), which factors influence student teachers’ ESD implementation intention. Furthermore, we investigated how student teachers understand the guiding perspectives and what influences the actual ESD implementation from the respondents’ point of view. Via structural equation modelling, we found direct effects of subjective task value, expectation of success and ESD knowledge, as well as indirect effects of SD attitudes and ESD implementation beliefs on ESD implementation intention, but no effects for subjective norm and perceived costs. Analyses of open answers revealed complex understandings of ESD, but also misinterpretations mainly in terms of ESD as equivalent to environmental education. Furthermore, student teachers expected barriers (e.g., lack of time) and formulated support needs (e.g., teaching material) for implementing ESD in schools. Our findings stress the importance of advancing ESD implementation in teacher education.

The article examines the features of account receivables accounting at coke enterprises in Ukraine. Different approaches for defining the «account receivable» term by domestic and foreign researchers were examined, the difference between interpretations was determined. Various approaches to the account receivable classification were explored, the classification attributes were generalized on the basis of the conducted research. It was proposed to extend the existing classification with the following attributes: by agreement with counterparties, by currency of debt, by legitimacy of occurrence. According to the added classification attributes, the types of account receivables were distinguished (сoncerted and the unconcerted account  receivable on a sum and terms, for example, not confirmed claims fines; real and fictitious account receivable, that is represented in an account without actual realization of economic operation or as a result of economic operations that is confessed by a court as incompetent). The features of account receivables accounting at the PJSC “DNIPROVSKY CCP” were examined. In accordance with the chosen accounting policy, the classification of account receivables at the enterprise was highlighted. The features of registration of primary documents of origin and repayment of account receivable for various business transactions were analyzed. The features of recognition and assessment of account receivable, the procedure for forming the provision for doubtful debts were revealed, the procedure and grounds for writing off debts, the features of its reflection in the financial statements were determined. For more detailed accounting of account receivables in the enterprise, measures to improve accounting were proposed. For account receivables accounts in the enterprise, it is proposed to introduce sub-accounts for accounting of debts for which the payment deadline has not come, and debts that have not been repaid on time. For accounting the doubtful debt reserve for long-term and short-term account receivables it’s proposed to introduce separate sub-accounts to the account of the accounting of the doubtful debts reserve. Based on the proposals made the changes to the working card of accounts of the PJSC “DNIPROVSKY CCP” were developed.

This chapter describes how cloud computing is an emerging concept combining many fields of computing. The foundation of cloud computing is the delivery of services, software and processing capacity over the Internet, reducing cost, increasing storage, automating systems, decoupling of service delivery from underlying technology, and providing flexibility and mobility of information. However, the actual realization of these benefits is far from being achieved for mobile applications and open many new research questions. Together with an explosive growth of the mobile applications and emerging of cloud computing concept, mobile cloud computing (MCC) has been introduced to be a potential technology for mobile services. With this importance, this chapter provides an overview of mobile cloud computing in which its definitions, architecture, and advantages have been presented. It presents an in-depth knowledge of various aspects of Mobile Cloud Computing (MCC). We give a definition of mobile cloud computing and provide an overview of its features.

Biology is turning from an analytical into a synthetic discipline. This is especially apparent in the field of metabolic engineering, where the concept of synthetic metabolism has been recently developed. Compared to classical metabolic engineering efforts, synthetic metabolism aims at creating novel metabolic networks in a rational fashion from bottom-up. However, while the theoretical design of synthetic metabolic networks has made tremendous progress, the actual realization of such synthetic pathways is still lacking behind. This is mostly because of our limitations in enzyme discovery and engineering to provide the parts required to build synthetic metabolism. Here I discuss the current challenges and limitations in synthetic metabolic engineering and elucidate how modern day enzymology can help to build a synthetic metabolism of the future.

Ethiopia has learned much from the experience and advice from East Asia. The learning was carried out with strong country ownership and necessary adjustments, not by blindly emulating foreign practices. This chapter explains Ethiopia’s policy learning with Japan which began in 2008 where kaizen, export promotion, and other policy skills were absorbed through regular discussions, mutual visits, third-country research, and so on. Topics evolved as learning deepened and circumstances changed. Many proposals were followed up by concrete Japanese industrial cooperation for actual realization. Ethiopia’s industrialization is taking place in Africa where conditions are quite different from those in the East Asia of the late twentieth century. The major difference is the absence of a leading nation and structured layers of follower nations (the Flying Geese pattern), and weak economic linkages among African economies. The implications of this for Ethiopia’s development strategy are also considered.

The concept of institution is a rather unclear concept in the contemporary social science literature. In the “Introduction,” I give a survey of the different interpretations of the concept of institution. In the first part, I make a distinction between loose norms and tight norms, and I define the concept of institution in connection with the concept of tight norm. Institution is a system of tight norms and additional norms specifying the validity scope of the tight norms as well as the control of their actual realization. Furthermore, I introduce the concept of quasi-institution to denote the typical transitions between norm systems of a different nature. In connection with the shaping of institutions and the control, I introduce the concept of the coverage of institution. The coverage of institution is the ability to shape and change the norms composing the given institution and to control the actions falling into the validity scope of institutional norms. In the second part, institutions are classified according to their coverage and distinction is made between externally covered, one-sidedly covered, and internally covered institutions. Concerning quasi-institutions, I make a distinction between its two typical forms: the norm system with one-person coverage and institutional morals.
