Effect of light-converting coatings on the growth of Sarepta mustard (Brassica juncea L.) plants colonized by associative microorganisms

The effect of colonization by beneficial associative microorganisms Pseudomonas putida KT 2442 and Rhodococcus erythropolis X5 on the growth of Sarepta mustard (Brassica juncea L.) under a covering light-converting material containing organic photoluminophore, in vitro and in vivo, was investigated. The combined use of microbial colonization and photoluminophore coating led to stimulation of plant growth much stronger (2.4 times more) than separately only photoluminophoric coating (1.3 times) or colonization (2.1 times). These data indicate that when covering materials with photoluminophores are used in agrobiotechnologies, luminescent red light (610-730 nm) induces an increase in biochemical processes not only in plants, but also in microorganisms that supply plants with growth regulators and other useful metabolites. The data obtained are relevant for further study of the photobiological mechanisms of interactions between the plant-microorganism system in agrobiotechnologies.

Effectiveness of biotechnology on the basis of associative microorganisms at the early stages of forestry process of the Pinus sylvestris L.

The transition to biologically based technologies is one of the priority scientific areas of agriculture and forestry in Russia. The aim of the work is to develop and modify the technology of using biological products on forest tree species and to test it on Scots pine. The effect of pre-sowing inoculation of pine seeds with biological products on soil germination, safety of one- and two-year-old seedlings and their biometric characteristics was studied. The results of the analysis of soil germination of seeds and the safety of 1-year-old seedlings showed that these biological products can be introduced into the technology of growing planting material of Scots pine. It was revealed that the seeds of sensitive trees of the Stupinskaya population turned out to be the most responsive to inoculation with biological products. A stimulating effect has been established on the survival rate of seedlings, preservation, height, growth and diameter of 2-year-old plants in a forestry area (Vernadsky forestry, Tambov region). The height of 2-year-old seedlings of pine 'Ostrogozhskaya' exceeds the control by an average of 18.1%. The use of this biotechnology in forestry production will create favorable conditions for the germination of pine seeds, the growth of seedlings and their higher survival rate.

Resistance of plants colonized by associative microorganisms to xenobiotics and phytopathogens

The aim of our work was to study the colonization of potato, tomato, rapeseed and camelina by associative microorganisms Methylobacterium mesophilicum, Pseudomonas aureofaciens BS1393 and Pseudomonas putida BS3701; examine the resistance of colonized plants to biotic (phytopathogens Erwinia carotovora and Sclerotinia sclerotiorum) and abiotic (naphthalene, oil) stressors. Colonized plants were characterized by an increased growth rate (1.5–2.0 times higher) compared to non-colonized ones; flower-bud formation, flowering and fructification of the colonized plants also started earlier. An increased resistance of colonized plants to phytopathogens, naphthalene (100 mµ/ml) and oil (0.7 %) was noted, too. The level of superoxide dismutase (SOD) in control plants on a medium with naphthalene or oil increased by 160–150%; in colonized plants – by 20–18 %. Colonized plants were more viable because of the presence of P. putida BS3701 on the roots.

EPIPHYTIC MICROFLORA OF RICE (ORYZA SATIVA L.) AS A SOURCE OF STRAINS WITH AGRONOMICALLY USEFUL PLANT PROPERTIES

The paper covers the study of morphological, physiological and biochemical properties of associative microorganisms isolated from rice roots and plants’ response on inoculation. The agronomically useful properties, such as growth stimulation, ability to fix nitrogen and mobilize phosphates were observed. The positive influence of isolated bacteria on growth and development of rice plants was observed.

SELECTION OF MICROORGANISMS ASSOCIATIVE TO VEGETABLE PLANTS

Microorganisms associative to the specific botanical species (Brassica capitata var. alba Lizg., Licopersicum esculentum Mill., Сucumis sativus L.) were isolated followed by the study of their morphological, physiology-biochemical properties and plants’ reaction on inoculation. It was shown that the quantity of isolated associative microorganisms’ isolations had depended both on the specie of macroorganism and microorganisms of soil in which the plant was formed, and had not depended on the quantity of microorganisms in the soil. These isolations had not showed the absolute specificity to the specific plant species. Some strains had promoted increase of overgrown and root weight of Lepidium sativum L. plants on 27,3 and 54,5 % correspondingly.
