The problem of ixodic tick-borne borreliosis remains relevant due to its ubiquity, high incidence, especially in the Northwestern Federal District, a variety of clinical manifestations, as well as the possibility of chronization, including in children.Purpose: to describe our own clinical observations of Bannwart syndrome, which developed during the dissemination of the pathogen.Results. Bannwart syndrome is pathognomonic for borreliosis symptoms, including a triad of clinical manifestations: serous meningitis, single- or bilateral lesion of facial nerves, polyneuropathy. Timely clinical and adequate laboratory diagnostics determine the favorable course of the disease.

This article reports a case of oral lichenoid contact reaction (OLCR) in which a bilateral lesion involving the buccal mucosa was observed. Its relevance lies on that the lesions could be misdiagnosed as an oral leukoplakia, since they showed a typical feature of a homogeneous white plaque; however, fortunately, this misjudgement was spared because one of the lesions, on the right-buccal side, was in direct contact with an amalgam filling. Hence, the suspicion of mucosal contact reaction was made and the patient successfully treated by amalgam replacement. Comments on diagnosing of OLCR is also included is this report.

Capecitabine is an oral fluoropyrimidine used to treat solid tumours such as colorectal and breast cancer. A rare but severe side effect is capecitabine-induced leukoencephalopathy, including bilateral lesion to the corticospinal tract. However, neurological symptoms due to capecitabine treatment are usually reported to be reversible after discontinuation of capecitabine. Here, we present the case of a patient with bilateral degeneration of the corticospinal tract and progressive spastic tetraplegia after chemotherapy with capecitabine mimicking primary lateral sclerosis. Although therapy with capecitabine was ended, symptoms substantially worsened over the following years and the patient finally died from aspiration pneumonia almost 3 years after the application of capecitabine.

Background: To study the clinical profile of pulmonary tuberculosis in diabetic patients and to study the radiographic patterns of pulmonary tuberculosis in diabetic patients. Methods: The study was undertaken on 100 patients with diabetes mellitus and pulmonary tuberculosis of both sexes admitted to Chalmeda Anand Rao Institute of Medical Sciences, Bommakal, Karimnagar. Results: The fasting blood sugar value showed a definite co-relation with pulmonary tuberculosis. 41% of the patients had fasting blood sugar value between 201 to 300mg/dl and 30% had value between 151-200mg/dl and 23% of the patients had value above 300mg/dl. Mean fasting blood sugar value was 234.4mg/dl. Right sided lung lesions were noted in 37% of the cases and left sided lesions in 33% of the cases. Upper lobe lesions were noted in 68% of the cases and bilateral lesion in 30% of the study group. Conclusions: Uncontrolled diabetes mellitus patients are more prone to develop pulmonary tuberculosis compared to non diabetics. Sputum examination tends to be positive in diabetics compared to non diabetics.

Internuclear Ophthalmoplegia (INO) is a clinical syndrome which develops due to a lesion in the medial longitudinal fasciculus (MLF). It is a horizontal gaze disorder characterized by impaired adduction of eye on the side of the lesion of medial longitudinal fasciculus with dissociated nystagmus of the opposite abducting eye. This lesion is mostly caused by multiple sclerosis (usually bilateral lesion), stroke and tumours. A case with unilateral internuclear ophthalmoplegia due to vascular lesion was admitted in Anwer Khan Modern Medical College & Hospital on 27/05/2017.Anwer Khan Modern Medical College Journal Vol. 9, No. 1: Jan 2018, P 71-74
