Correlation of Communication and Compensation and Benefits on Employees Performance Mediated by Motivation Research on Companies Merger and Acquisition in Indonesia in Oil and Natural Gas Industry

Merger and Acquisition (M&A) is a common business practice in the twenty-first century. In M&A, human resource is the key to its success especially to create value-added for the company. Thereby, employees' performance shall be understood by the company towards its objectives. The purpose of this research is to examine what factors have potential effects on employees' performance in the context of companies after acquisition. Factors analyzed are communication and compensation & benefits, using motivation as a mediation factor on the relation between the factors to the employee's performance. Quantitative method is used in this research, whereas the data is collected by online questionnaire to 215 respondents of employees in four oil and gas companies in Indonesia after their acquisition by the state-owned enterprise within the period 2015-2018. Data analysis is processed with the help of SPSS of path analysis and Sobel test to test the hypotheses. Findings show that communication and compensation & benefits have a significant correlation on employees' performance. In addition, Motivation as a mediation variable also intervenes the correlation of communication and compensation & benefits to employees' performance.

Intrinsic speed capabilities and alliance partner attractiveness

This study focuses on the role of intrinsic speed capabilities, which refer to the ability to execute investment projects faster than competitors, in the attractiveness and selection of alliance partners. We predict that intrinsically faster firms have a higher likelihood of being selected as alliance partners due to the potential of accelerating the realization of future revenue streams of an alliance project as well as of preempting slower competitors. We also expect that intrinsic speed capabilities substitute for deficiencies in alliance experience and firm innovativeness. Using data on construction projects in the global Liquefied Natural Gas industry, we find empirical support for our theoretical expectations. Our results suggest that firm speed plays an important role in alliance partner selection and has the potential to facilitate the generation of future growth options for firms due to greater partner attractiveness in the market for alliance partners.

Economic Comparison of Alternatives for a Stranded Offshore Gas Reservoir

This paper compares economics of a floating liquefied natural gas (FLNG) project with those of an onshore LNG plant and gas-to-wire (GTW) processes. Sensitivity analyses and tornado charts are used to evaluate the importance of various uncertain parameters associated with FLNG construction and operation. This study will be helpful for future considerations in using FLNG to convert offshore gas reservoirs previously considered stranded into economically viable resources. The results from this economic model can play a key role in the future of the natural gas industry and energy market in West Africa. Assumptions Before presenting different economic scenarios, the following assumptions must be established: * The pipeline will have the correct diameter, pressure rating, and metallurgy to transport produced gas. Only the pipe length will be considered a variable. * Operating expenses (OPEX) of both onshore LNG and FLNG will be the same. Realistically, however, OPEX of FLNG will be different from that of onshore LNG. * A subsidy from the Nigerian government has been obtained for the onshore LNG plant. * The electricity price is assumed to be $0.25/kWh. * An assumed upstream cost of $2/Mscf to cover onshore LNG gas pretreatment is assumed. * The onshore LNG plant and FLNG will have the same lifespan. However, in reality, availability of FLNG can be lower than that of onshore LNG. Pricing Models FNLG. Because of the relative recency of FNLG, few pricing models have been readily available. For the complete paper, Shell’s Prelude project is the basis for pricing of FLNG. Prelude costs averaged out to approximately $14 billion, which will be used as the cost of the facility for the FLNG scenario in the economic analysis.

Future strategies for promoting tourism and petroleum heritage in Khuzestan Province, Iran

PurposeIndustrial tourism not only strives to preserve industrial heritage, but can also be a strategy for being familiar with the history of industry and attracting tourists to new destinations. This paper examines the issue of promoting petroleum industrial tourism in the case of Khuzestan, Iran. The research aims at determining appropriate strategies for promoting petroleum industrial tourism.Design/methodology/approachThe data were analysed through a strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats (SWOT) model.FindingsThe results revealed the competitive strategy as the best. Lastly, strategies such as: concentric diversification, joint venture strategy, conglomerate diversification and horizontal diversification were proposed as key solutions. The results support the view that establishing an exploratory ecomuseum in the territory of Khuzestan Province can be a suitable concentric diversification strategy towards petroleum industrial sustainable tourism in the future.Originality/valueThe main originality of this paper includes linking tourism with the petroleum (oil and natural gas) industry and its natural landscapes for the first time in a case study. Therefore, the results of this research can extend the literature in this regards. Moreover, this paper attracts tourists to visit natural landscapes of petroleum heritage.
