Cysticercosis cellulosae is a systemic parasitic infection caused by the larval stage of pork tapeworm, taenia solium which involve humans as either a denitive or secondary host. It is a common disease in developing countries. The cases presenting as an isolated muscle mass is an extremely rare entity and demands documentation. Herein, we present a case of healthy pediatric patient who presented with unilateral cheek swelling which on ultrasound suggested a benign cystic lesion. The diagnosis was conrmed on ne needle aspiration cytology (FNAC).

Background: To study the endoscopic trans-lateral molar (ETLM) approach to infratemporal fossa (ITF) lesions and analyze the advantages and disadvantages of this method. Methods: Four cases of ITF lesions were analyzed retrospectively. The clinical features, diagnosis and treatments, the operative process, and clinical applications of this surgical approach were discussed. Results: Postoperative pathologies were 2 pleomorphic adenomas, 1 schwannoma, and 1 inflammatory lesion. All patients had self-resolving cheek swelling and pharyngalgia in the short term, but 2 patients had numbness in the long term. There was no infection or bleeding in the postoperative period, and no difficulty in chewing after disease recovery. There was no tumor recurrence during the follow-up period. Conclusion: The ETLM approach is convenient, minimally invasive, and allows complete excision of benign ITF lesions, posterior to the lateral pterygoid muscle and mainly below the level of the hard palate. It is a simple and direct access to the ITF, but it is a narrow access because of the limitations of bones and soft tissues. Appropriate patient selection is mandatory for successful surgery.

Morbihan syndrome is a rare entity causing woody induration of the face. There are numerous case reports of bilateral Morbihan syndrome. We present a case of a 46-year-old man with right infra-orbital cheek swelling and symptoms of rosacea who had histology consistent with granulomatous rosacea following debulking surgery. His clinical presentation and investigation findings support a diagnosis of rosacea causing unilateral Morbihan syndrome.

An abscess of the deep parotid lobe is an uncommon complication of acute parotitis. Characterized by warm erythematous facial skin and ipsilateral cheek swelling, parotid abscesses have often been associated with decreased saliva production and immunodeficiency. We offer a case of a large deep parotid lobe abscess presenting similarly to a peritonsillar mass, causing significant odynophagia and difficulty swallowing. Computed tomography scan revealed an infected deep parotid lobe sialocele which was surgically drained transorally and treated expectantly with antibiotics.

Submassteric abscess is a rare head and neck abscess. It may mimic a parotid abscess due to very close anatomical relationship. We present a 14-month-old child presented with fever, poor oral intake, irritability, and left-sided cheek swelling. Contrast-enhanced computed tomography of the neck showed an abscess formation in left submasseteric space. Intraoral drainage of abscess was successfully performed under general anesthesia. Patient recovered well and was discharged on day three post operatively. Subsequent follow up at one-week post operatively showed no recollection of the abscess.International Journal of Human and Health Sciences Vol. 03 No. 02 April’19. Page: 123-125
