Evaluating the Efficacy of Two Decalcifying Agents on Hard and Soft Tissues of Human Permanent Teeth

BACKGROUND Human teeth and bones consist of hard and soft tissues. Preparing calcified tissues for histological analysis by decalcification is a time-consuming procedure, and the quality of the sections thus obtained is dependent on the speed with which decalcification occurs, as well as the chemistry of the decalcification agent. The present study was intended to identify the method that combines the highest quality of stained sections with a short period of time. METHODS 50 extracted premolars were subjected to decalcification using 10 % Formic acid and 5 % Trichloroacetic acid (TCA). The efficacy of decalcifying agents was evaluated by recording the time taken by particular acid to decalcify the tooth completely. The preservation of morphological characteristics was assessed on the basis of ease of sectioning, uniformity of staining, damage to odontoblast layer, retraction of pulp and fraying of dentinal tubules. RESULTS Comparatively decalcification was faster with 5 % TCA than 10 % Formic acid. Whereas, 10 % formic acid was more considerate on soft tissues than 5 % TCA. All the results were statistically significant. CONCLUSIONS Samples decalcified with 10 % formic acid gave fairly good results, so it can be used in cases of diagnostic urgencies. Adhesive photocomposite prosthese – option of restoration of dental row defect in the frontal area (clinical case report)

Summary. Having and maintaining a smile aesthetic is an essential component of modern popular culture. Adhesive bridges («Maryland bridge») have been developed to eliminate single included defects in the dentition in the frontal areas, without preparing the supporting teeth. In modern conditions this technology is the method of choice since single defects in the anterior part of the dentition can also be eliminated through orthodontic treatment, manufacturing of a partially removable plate prosthesis, a traditional dental bridges, the manufacturing of cantilever orthopedic structures and prosthetics based on a dental implant. Adhesive dentures are a relatively new dental technology (which is on the border of orthopedic and therapeutic dentistry) the first work in this direction was carried out in the early 80s of the twentieth century. Modern adhesive bridges are divided into two large groups – solid metal and photopolymer (composite) which prevail in practice. The optimal form of the release of the reinforcing element which combines a slight preparation of abutment teeth to a safe depth, high physical and mechanical properties, simple achievement of the anatomical shape of the teeth in the bridge structures of the anterior and posterior teeth is fiberglass in the form of ribbons 2 mm wide, up to 0.5 mm (this is the most effective width and thickness for clinical practice) and braided type. Using adhesive bridges, it is possible to optimally restore the aesthetics of the anterior part of the dentition in one visit without preliminary preparation of adjacent teeth. An example of the manufacture of a photocomposite adhesive prosthesis reinforced with glass fiber for the restoration of a single included defect in the dentition in the frontal area using domestically produced materials is given. Introduction The presence of healthy attached tissue at the tooth and implant soft tissue interface correlates with long-term success and stability in function and esthetics and requires conversion of unfavorable soft tissue traits to more favorable ones. Several soft tissue grafting procedures have been developed to improve both the volume of keratinized tissue and the soft tissue contour around implants and the tooth. Objectives This study therefore aims at determining the knowledge , attitude , and perception of Periodontists and implantologists in private practice towards soft tissue grafting around implants and teeth . Methodology Approximately 100 periodontists and dental practioners from Mumbai were provided with a questionnaire to evaluate their knowledge about soft tissue grafting around implants and teeth .The questionnaire consists questions regarding different techniques involved in soft tissue grafting , the materials used for it , the complications faced during the procedure and the preferred method . Results: The results show that very few practioners are practicing soft tissue grafting around natural teeth and implants in their private practice. Conclusion : Thus, keeping in mind the results of the study it is essential to create more awareness about soft tissue augmentation and its importance and also conduct programmes to train dentists for the same. Root reabsortion induce by orthodontic procedures

Summary: Investigation findings on tooth roots resorption are not trustworthy because they aresubmitted to some special study characteristics like sample number, important factors control,measuring methods and some characteristic elements related to research types. It’s well known thatthe grate incidence of this type of pathology occur on frontal tooth upper incisive central,incisive lateral and canines and on lower incisive laterals and canines because theirs longer andsharper roots. When through the radiography findings it is possible clearly identify the root teethtype we are able to predict the possibility of root resorption during the forces application neededto orthodontic tooth movements and also we have the capability to inform to parents and the patientabout this possible risk, but we also have the opportunity to stablish the preventive actions inorder to minimize undesirable effects of the orthodontic treatment.
