Railway supply chain excellence through the mediator role of business intelligence: Knowledge management approach towards information system

The features of a holistic view in an organization create the data value of the Business Intelligence (BI) and Knowledge Management (KM) in viewing the big picture of organizational performance diagnostics framework. This research focuses on the specific features of railway supply chain performance in viewing the decision-making process and creating better knowledge formation. The intention of the study is to structure supplier performance using BI-KM framework development to determine holistic perspective factors. The outcomes indicate that BI and KM significantly increased the railway supply chain and significantly increased the information system. This BI-KM framework relates the current analytic characteristics in designing the railway supply chain towards information system in determining the strategic theme of the decision-making process of the decision support system together with system features, characteristics of data, the content of the themes, and the effect of the decision-making process and for executive strategic performance diagnostics tool that provides effective strategic decision making in supply chain performance. The quantitative research method uses SmartPLS software version 3.2.8 for empirical analysis through distributing survey questionnaires to 320 railway suppliers in Malaysia. Using a model-driven development framework, to measure the implementation success of the decision support system, the study is conducted in the railway supplier focusing on strategic management that helps to make the decision and facilitate the organizational success.

THE FREQUENCY OF USE OF EEG AND NEUROFEEDBACK IN SPORT, SYSTEMATIC REVIEW

Increasing athlete performance is an eternal challenge in the world of sports. The success of the training work performed can be checked by performance diagnostics. Proper brain processing is essential for skill learning and the implementation of effective motor performance. It was important for brain mapping technology to improve the capabilities of imaging devices in order to measure cognitive-motor performance in the field. The primary purpose of this review was to summarize the frequency of applications of EEG and its associated neurofeedback in sport. Examine the differences and characteristics of protocols. Assess whether there is this uniform, standardized protocol for each sport and how often it is used among both elite and amateur athletes. Electroencephalography was initially used most in sports in which the stable setting was followed by only minimal movement. These include sport shooting, archery and golf and baseball. Later, it was possible to analyze more complex movements with EEG, such as cycling. One of the most commonly used techniques is neurofeedback training, but despite some research on the topic, the arena of neurotechnology in sports psychology still exists in its rudimentary form and is constrained by a plethora of technological problems.

An Updated Narrative Review on Ergometric Systems Applied to Date in Assessing Divers’ Fitness

Many recreational divers suffer medical conditions, potentially jeopardizing their safety. To scale down risks, medical examinations are mandatory and overwhelmingly performed using bicycle ergometry, which overlooks some important aspects of diving. Searching ergometric systems that better address the underwater environment, a systematic literature search was conducted using the keywords ‘diving’, ‘fitness’, ‘ergometry’, and ‘exertion’. All presented alternative systems found convincingly describe a greatly reduced underwater physical performance. Thus, if a diver’s workload in air should already be limited, he/she will suffer early from fatigue, risking a diving incident. How to assess fitness? Performance diagnostics in sports is always specific for a modality or movement. Therefore, professional scuba divers should be tested when fin-swimming underwater. For the vast number of recreational divers, the current screening can likely not be replaced. However, to prevent accidents, divers need to understand and be able to improve factors that limit their physical performance underwater. Other systems, presented here, will continue to be important tools in underwater research.

COVID-19 risk score as a public health tool to guide targeted testing: A demonstration study in Qatar

BackgroundThe objective of this study was to develop a Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) risk score to guide targeted RT-PCR testing in Qatar.MethodsThe Qatar national COVID-19 testing database was analyzed. This database includes a total of 2,688,232 RT-PCR tests conducted between February 5, 2020-January 27, 2021. Logistic regression analyses were implemented to identify predictors of infection and to derive the COVID-19 risk score, as a tool to identify those at highest risk of having the infection. Score cut-off was determined using the receiving operating characteristic (ROC) curve based on maximum sum of sensitivity and specificity. The score’s performance diagnostics were assessed.ResultsLogistic regression analysis identified age, sex, and nationality as significant predictors of infection and were included in the risk score. The score’s scoring points were lower for females compared to males and higher for specific nationalities. The ROC curve was generated and the area under the curve was estimated at 0.63 (95% CI: 0.63-0.63). The score had a sensitivity of 59.4% (95% CI: 59.1%-59.7%), specificity of 61.1% (95% CI: 61.1%-61.2%), a positive predictive value of 10.9% (95% CI: 10.8%-10.9%), and a negative predictive value of 94.9% (94.9%-95.0%). The risk score derived early in the epidemic, based on data until only April 21, 2020, had a performance comparable to that of a score based on a year-long testing.ConclusionsThe concept and utility of a COVID-19 risk score were demonstrated in Qatar. Such a public health tool, based on a set of non-invasive and easily captured variables can have considerable utility in optimizing testing and suppressing infection transmission, while maximizing efficiency and use of available resources.

Integrated Performance Optimization of Higher Education Buildings Using Low-Energy Renovation Process and User Engagement

Building performance improvement through low-energy renovation traditionally involves building performance diagnostics of the existing building, technology evaluation, selection and implementation. Effective building performance diagnostics, post-retrofit assessment and user engagement are essential to deliver performance as well as achieving socio-economic and environmental benefits at every stage of the renovation project life cycle. User’s views are often ignored when renovating a building, causing sub-optimal energy performance, user comfort and wellbeing. This paper seeks to critically evaluate the low-energy renovation process and the role of user and stakeholder engagement in the strategic implementation of low-energy retrofit technologies for performance improvement of higher education buildings. The research focuses on renovation methodology, innovative materials/systems and end-user engagement throughout the renovation project phases (pre-renovation, the renovation process and post renovation). A mixed research method was adopted, which includes building performance modelling, monitoring and user evaluation questionnaires pre and post-renovation. The research is part of European Union (EU)-funded project, targeting 50% reduction in energy consumption using innovative materials and technologies in existing public buildings. The surveys allow comparative analysis of comfort levels and user satisfaction as an indicator of the efficacy of renovation measures. A new renovation process and user engagement framework was developed. The findings suggest that there is a direct relationship between retrofit intervention, improving energy performance of low-carbon buildings and the comfort of occupants. The technologies and strategies also appear to have different impacts on user satisfaction.

DIAGNOSTICS AND PREVENTION OF CORRUPTION BEHAVIOR OF EMPLOYEES OF THE PENAL CORRECTION SYSTEM

В статье изучены возможные области применения диагностики служебной деятельности сотрудников уголовно-исполнительной системы в качестве профилактики их коррупционного поведения, особенности и проблемные моменты диагностики сотрудников системы, исполнения наказаний, а так же выделены основные компоненты диагностирования. Результатом исследования явилось определение сфер целесообразности применения диагностики служебной деятельности при профилактике коррупционного поведения сотрудников уголовно-исполнительной системы. The article explores the possible areas of application for the diagnostics of the performance of employees of the penitentiary system as a prevention of their corrupt behavior. The author has studied the features and problematic aspects of the diagnosis of system employees, the execution of sentences, as well as highlighted the main components of the diagnosis. The result of the study was the identification of areas of appropriateness of the use of performance diagnostics in the prevention of corrupt behavior of employees of the penal correctional system.

Method and Implementation of High-Performance Diagnostics of Form of Electron Probe of Raster Electron Microscope

An important unit of an electron microscope is the system controlling the electron beam, responsible for raster forming on the specimen and the electron probe focusing, which provides an achievement of minimum of aberrations and the maximum of resolving capacity of formed electron image. During using electron microscope the image quality gradually deteriorates, manifesting the resolving capacity reduction and the astigmatism appearance. An attachment developed for the raster electron microscope, permitting to perform the highly effective diagnostics of the configuration of the scanning electron beam, controlled by a precision magneto-optical system, has been offered. It has been shown that the direct visual observing the scanning electron probe, in particular the evaluation of the ellipticity of its cross-section using the WEB camera matrix, combined with the sample plane, as a result, provides more efficient tuning and repair of the scanning electron microscope.
