Glomus tumour, also referred to as Barré–Masson syndrome is an enigmatic, rare, painful tumour that is that represents a proliferation of the normal capsular-neural glomus apparatus. These are rare hamartomas that arise from the traditional glomus apparatus, located in subcutaneous tissue These are benign soft tissue neoplasms presenting usually within the second to fourth decade of life, originating from the glomus body. It accounts for 1-5% of all upper limb soft tissue tumors . It's a component of the dermis layer of the [1] skin, involved in thermoregulation. It structurally consists of an arterio-venous shunt which is surrounded by a connective tissue capsule and is found in increased amounts in the ngers and toes.

BACKGROUND: Keloid is a form of wound healing that results from fibrous tissue activity. It can develop beyond the boundaries of the original wound, extends into the dermis layer, and disrupting the appearance. Previously, no studies have revealed a correlation between melanin pigment and keloid. AIM: This research aimed to describe the correlation between melanin concentration and collagen deposition in keloid tissue. MATERIALS AND METHODS: A prospective study conducted through the application of a cross-sectional analytic survey method. The color of the skin was measured using a chromameter, and a histopathologic examination was performed on the skin surrounding the keloid, as well as the keloid tissue. Data were analyzed using a t-test, correlation, and linear regression statistics. RESULTS: The results showed a significant difference between melanin concentration and collagen deposition in the skin surrounding the keloid tissue. No significant difference was observed between melanin concentration in the surrounding skin of keloid and those in the keloid tissue, as well as collagen deposition. Meanwhile, the melanin concentration in the surrounding skin of keloid and keloid tissue had a significant relationship with fibrocytes number. CONCLUSION: There is a significant correlation between melanin concentrations and collagen density in the keloid tissue.

Bamboo is one of the world’s fastest growing feedstocks. It is a promising nonwood resource that can be used in the pulp and paper industry. Among more than 1200 species of bamboo, the timber varieties can be processed much like trees, allowing current pulp mill logistical systems to be used. Bamboo can be difficult to pulp because of its high silica content, which creates issues for black liquor recovery. This study compares two methods of reducing the silica content of a common species of timber bamboo. Specifically, the dermis layer of Moso bamboo (Phyllostachys edulis) was removed through mechanical treatment and then chipped. The same species was also chipped without treatment. The two chipped materials were then alkali extracted and subjected to kraft pulping experiments. The pulps were bleached with an OD0(EP)D1 sequence. The material was then refined and formed into handsheets. The results indicate that 80% of the silica could be removed from the bamboo material through a combination of dermal mechanical treatment and caustic chip extraction. Caustic chip extraction removed a significant portion of hemicellulose materials, which in turn lowered cooking yields but had minimal effect on pulp properties.

Abstract: Skin is the largest and heaviest organ in human body. Its role as a barrier and its location at the surface of human body make it susceptible to trauma which in consequence to wound formation. Human body responses to wound by initiating wound healing process. The fundamental aspect of this process consists of four phases: inflammation, initiation, proliferation, and remodeling. In order to obtain sucessfull wound healing all four phases must occur in a proper sequence and a time frame. Several factors have been known to interfere one or more of these phases. In postmortem condition, wound healing can still occur but the process is different compared to those in antemortem condition. A domestic pig was used on account of the similarity in skin structure and histophysiology with human being to observe the inflammatory process in postmortem wounds. This was an experimental descriptive research. Cut wounds were made at the back of the postmortem pig then skin tissues were taken and reserved in series of time to observe histological features of wound healing process. The results showed that an increase of cells’ number in dermis layer of the skin was observed 15 minutes after the cut wounds. The increase of cells’ number in the first wounds reached its peak at 150 minutes postmortem, meanwhile the increase of cells’ number in second wounds reached its peak at 45 minutes postmortem, 90 minutes after the cut wounds were made. Moreover, the increase of cells’number could be observed until 3 hours postmortem. It was concluded that the inflammatory process of wound healing observed by increases of cells’ number still occured postmortem for a certain time. Keywords: Inflammatory process, postmortem, wound.

The current study was conducted to exam the histopathological changes of skin of German shepherd dogs suffering from ringworm infection. It may be the first study on this breed of dog in the Al-Diwanyia province. Seven German shepherd dogs from directorate of K9 in Al-Diwanyia province suffering from skin lesion were used in this study. Highly contaminated fur of infected dogs was cultured on Sabouraud’s dextrose agar (SDA). A five mm shaved biopsies of skin from all cases were taken from lesions present on shoulder region and after routine processes histological technique to evaluate the histopathological changes. The result were revealed that the colonies of Microsporum canis was flat, spreading, white to faint creamy-coloured with a dense buffy, granular to coarsely fluffy to hairy surface with radial grooves, and the histopathological exam of skin were showed presence of hyperkeratosis, spongiosis and marked dermal edema, skin bullae in the epidermal layer and accumulation of collagen fibers found of spores and hyphae of Microsporum in the stratum basale layer of epidermis and infiltration of eosinophils in the dermis layer directly beneath the basal layer of epidermis.
