Survivors of these ordeals are facing and suffering from traumatic life experiences. We illustrated a case of a 13-year-old girl who was involved in an incestuous relationship and the challenges from the ethical perspective of a professional. It is essential that healthcare professionals be equipped with awareness on the legal impact of such case – related to child protection policy, child rehabilitation process and the penal code related to such event.

When Child Protection Policy (CPP) has been implemented, many teachers strive to maintain discipline and execute the curriculum through instruction. In the worst circumstances, lawsuits related to student discipline and classroom management have been filed against teachers. With this, the Philippine Congress created the bill Teacher Protection Act (TPA) primarily authored by Antonio L. Tinio, France L. Castro, and Ramon H. Durano VI. This act protects the teachers from students of bad behavior, abusing the legal empowerment from CPP. This shift leads to the conduct of this study. This phenomenological study aims to give insights about the bill (the phenomenon) and to gauge how the teacher participants perceive it (the perception). An interview is conducted among five (5) tenured teacher participants. They are asked to assess the house bill content and its future implications to provide insights to the teachers, other stakeholders, and the lawmakers. The investigation identifies that: (a) CPP is a hindrance to student discipline; (b) TPA must be immediately implemented; (c) the act is perceived to be a protection, but must be improved; (d) there are no clear guidelines to implement the act so far; (e) legal assistance in cases related to student discipline and classroom management is one of the best features of the act; (f) equality between students and teachers are perceived to be significant; (g) financial constraint is a consideration to be made to successfully implement the act; and (h) though the participants may single out some points to re-consider, they are still positive towards the act and what it can do for the welfare of the teachers.

Schools shall be conducive to children’s education, and that the children’s’ best interest shall be the primary consideration in all policies and actions of educational institutions. This descriptive cross-sectional survey gauged the Filipino public school teachers’ awareness of and attitudes towards the child protection policy (CPP). The study involved 99 basic education teachers in select public elementary and secondary schools in Zambales, Philippines. The basic education teachers are aware of the policy, and they have a favorable attitude toward its implementation. No significant difference has been found in their awareness and attitude towards CPP when grouped according to demographics. The study concludes that as the teachers become aware of the policy, they tend to have a more favorable attitude. The study recommends that the teachers be capacitated through continuing professional development programs to provide special protection to children who are seriously susceptible or threatened by situations that distress their normal growth. Further study may also be conducted to probe other CPP dimensions in basic education to come up with relevant and research-based recommendations towards the policy’s improved implementation in the public schools in the Philippine context.

In every institution in the country, there are countless stories of children being bullied, abused, or maltreated. This can happen inside a school or outside its premises. A child protection policy is a must to protect these children. This study assesses the child protection policy awareness of teachers and the responsiveness of the schools. It also wanted to know the relationship and program implications. The researchers used a descriptive-correlation research design with the survey as the primary data-gathering tool. 146 teachers from seven different schools in a city in Bulacan, Philippines took part in the survey. The study also adopted an instrument from Macatimpag (2018). To analyze the data, the proponents used mean, t-test, ANOVA, and Pearson-r. The results showed that teachers were aware of the Child Protection Policy program of the Department of Education. However, the responsiveness of the schools is not very high. There were significant differences in the results observed in the awareness of teachers and the responsiveness of the schools. In addition, there is a moderate relationship between the awareness of teachers in the Child Protection policy with the responsiveness of the school about the program. Based on the aforementioned findings of the study, the researchers have provided some implications of the study for future references.

Child protection policy gives guidelines and rules to the Child Protection Committee to create a secured and safe environment for learners. It is a tool that protects both learners and school personnel by clearly characterizing the arrangements and measures for child protection and by practicing a reliable behavior toward child-safety. Hence, the paper examines the level of implementation of the Department of Education (DepEd) Child Protection from a public school in the Division of Bacolod City during the School Year 2018-2019. This study was conducted to create awareness among school personnel regarding the strengths and weaknesses of the implementation of the Child Protection Policy in its jurisdiction.  The researcher utilized the result of the study in making an action plan that serves as a mechanism to ensure the school's full implementation of its Child Protection Policy.

The study of intercountry variability of child protection decision-making has become an emerging research theme in the past decade. This chapter draws on a variety of studies conducted using the model of Judgments and Decisions Processes in Context (JUDPiC) to compare judgments and decisions in cases of alleged maltreatment made by decision-makers in five countries: Israel, the Netherlands, Northern Ireland, Portugal, and Spain. The chapter begins with a brief overview of research on intercountry comparisons in the field of child protection decision-making, then describes the JUDPiC model and presents in some detail the first international comparison study conducted with this underlying model. The authors offer next the subsequent developments of this research project in the different countries involved. In the final section, they discuss some implications for child protection policy and practice and future research.
