This study focuses on the dialectical tension management strategy for married couples of different religions in Pancasila Village, Turi District, Balun, Lamongan. Balun Village was chosen because it has a high level of religious tolerance. Using the Rational Dialectical theoretical perspective, this study reveals how individuals feel in communicating, identifies the causes of tension in communication, and communication strategies in overcoming tensions in interfaith families. This study uses a qualitative-descriptive approach with a case study method, intending to be able to describe in detail how the tensions formed in interfaith families in Balun Village are minimized. Data collection techniques were carried out by in-depth interviews and observations, to obtain a complete picture of their daily communication practices. The results of this study indicate that there are different dialectical tension management patterns, which are based on the level of tension that arises and the issues that trigger tension. The main cause of tension in interfaith family communication is related to two things; lack of openness of the parties and the influence of stereotypes on different ethnicities in the family.

Prior research suggests that tensions are particularly salient in nonprofit and interorganizational contexts but rarely considers the impacts of managing these tensions. This manuscript applies a constitutive view of tensions to a community collaboration. Applied tensional analysis suggests interrelated membership tensions identified by organizational partners (grassroots/grasstops and inclusion/exclusion). Partners respond in conscious and latent ways (branding/blaming) as they seek to include organizational and community members and ultimately rely on contradictory messages (affirmation/admonition) to retain members. Findings present theoretical and practical implications for tension management, as well as constitutive implications for nonprofits dependent on organizational and community involvement to enact social change.

Viewed through the standard prisms of international politics, escalation of security tensions is the definitive feature in the evolution of relations between China and Southeast Asia over the last decade. Disagreements over territorial ownership of and rights to the South China Sea sharpened and arguably became the defining feature of regional geopolitics. Yet, China and Southeast Asia have also managed to prove predictions of fateful conflict to be premature. In this article, we study Chinese and Southeast Asian strands of security discourse, which provide political and diplomatic cover for cooperative interaction in parallel with little or no compromise on security principles. Then we select interactions between China and the Philippines and China and Vietnam as cases to illustrate our observations. We conclude by postulating that, at least in the maritime space, tension management rather than conflict resolution is more likely to be the continuing feature into the future.

This paper proposes the improvement of PV-WE system's energy usage and the battery energy storage system (BESS). PV, BESS. Surveillance, tension management, frequency control, energy distribution, power quality and artificial intelligence techniques (AI). The aim is to increase the power quality of the grid-connected PV-BESS system. In order to increase energy quality, technology is continually explored and evaluated. The PV-BESS system is built for the microgrid, which offers benefits including continuous supply, efficient load content and effective electricity utilisation. The flow of energy from source to source is controlled by ANN. The development of the MPPT algorithm for validation of the proposed approach is using an artificial neural network (ANN) technique. An extensive research and data finding demonstrates that output is accuracy with the ANN-based MPPT output. This study therefore proposes a new way for assessing the performance at a specific site of the microgrid. The power translation systems are therefore handled in an active and reactive manner taking into consideration their circumstances and limitations.

Tension in the form of dilemmas, contradictions and conflicts exists in organisations. It can be managed through management controls, including management accounting, thereby optimising organisational performance. Management accounting uses all quantitative and qualitative information in addition to accounting information in assisting managerial decisions, ultimately helping a business to achieve its goals. As part of this, tension management, which is a relatively new research topic, can not only enable long-term business goals to be achieved, but can also help attain the individual wellbeing of employees. This is the premise of the research of Professor Eisuke Yoshida. The research themes of Yoshida, who is based in the Faculty of Business and Commerce, Keio University, Japan, encompass management accounting, business structure and organisation design and management. This interest stems from a desire to optimise the working environment and ensure that work doesn't come at the expense of other, outside interests. Yoshida says this is because often achieving operational efficiency is associated with negative consequences. Using management accounting, with incorporated tension management, he believes it is possible to avoid these. For example, in Japan targets tend to be difficult to achieve, and failure to achieve targets has become the norm. 'This creates a state of tension, which is not necessarily a negative thing. It will be a trigger for creating new ideas and collaborating with others,' outlines Yoshida. From his perspective, creating a theoretical framework for tension management is an important part of addressing this.

PurposeImplementing automatic sorting operations in the parcel delivery industry can dramatically improve both capacity and service quality but demands radical and complex organizational change. The present in-depth grounded theory study examined a change process of this kind within one of the few global companies in the parcel delivery sector, focusing on three European hubs where automatic sorting had recently been introduced.Design/methodology/approachGrounded theory methodology, which facilitates the gradual emergence and dialogical interpretation of empirically grounded theoretical concepts, was particularly suited to the current project's open-ended research design and the hybrid (prescriptive but also constructive) nature of the change process under study. The investigation comprised iterative cycles of data collection, open coding, selective coding and theoretical coding over a three-year period.FindingsIn keeping with the dual nature of the change underway, a set of tensions were identified between pairs of opposite poles: manual vs automated, planned vs emergent and corporate vs site. The management of these tensions, which leveraged both prescriptive and sensemaking approaches, was found to trigger knowledge production, facilitating a gradual transition from high to low uncertainty and, consequently, progressive movement along the continuum between each pair of competing poles. Within this process, the industrial engineering function acted as an agent of change with a key orchestrating role.Originality/valueAs one of the first in-depth grounded theory analyses of tension management, this study contributes to the relatively recent debate on the recognition, analysis and handling of tensions and paradoxes in organizational change, suggesting innovative criteria for successful change management and identifying promising new avenues for research. From a managerial perspective, the study outcomes suggest that explicit recognition of uncertainty and tensions in organizational change can pave the way for solutions based on agility and continuous organizational learning.

Collaborative cross-sector business models for sustainability innovation (CCSBMSI) in response to grand challenges are rich foci for tensions. This is the case of CCSBMSI targeting independent living through Information and Communication Technology–enabled care. This research aims at identifying the relevant tensions, understanding their interactions, and assessing how they can be effectively managed so that CCSBMSI become more valuable for partners and transformative for society. A conceptual framework that understands the management of interrelated institutional and interorganizational tensions as a dynamic capability is substantiated through in-depth, qualitative analysis of the long-term dynamics of a four-sector CCSBMSI in telecare—including government, businesses, nonprofits, and informal actors. Its effects on the transition of business models in terms of value creation, delivery, and capture; on relevant stakeholders—particularly nonprofits and beneficiaries; and on the development of the sustainability innovation are discussed. The conceptualization, tension categories, and management capabilities of CCSBMSI are amplified.
