Mortar using seawater and sand was the material studied here. The mortar specimens, in particular, were cured in natural seawater. The foci development in the mortar was the principal interest in this study. The on-line damage detection experiment art, including dynamically global MSHCT (Multi-Slices Helical Computer Tomography) scan and the local detection of EDS (Energy Dispersive Spectrometer), SEM (Scanning Electron Microscopy), and XRD (X-ray Diffraction) was designed to research the foci development in the mortar specimen. The mortar specimens with 70-day age were produced and investigated by the on-line damage detection experiments. The experiment results indicated that the mortar using seawater and sand offered appreciable strength at the early age, at least, although some saline minerals were generated during the preparation. The residual strength of the mortar was above 13 MPa, which helped to prevent the sharp damage of engineering bodies. The micro-interfacial behavior and the parental foci development controlled the damage evolution in the mortar using seawater and sand, the performance of which was still the adjustable one by composition optimization.

The authors presents the results of application of ultrasound investigation, diagnostic laparoscopy and multi-helical computer tomography in diagnostics of acute appendicitis. The research was applied on 139 patients whom clinical diagnosis was hard to establish using clinical - laboratory criteria. Ultrasound signs of acute appendicitis were revealed in 44 patients out of 139 (31,6%). Diagnostic laparoscopy was performed in 37 (26,6%) patients. According to the results of laparoscopy, the diagnosis of acute appendicitis was сonfirmed in 22 (70,2%) cases. The application of CT allowed the authors to confirm or reject the supposed diagnosis in 90,8% patients. The authors came to conclusion that this non-invasive method facilitated to diagnostics of vermiform appendix inflammation and had a high diagnostic accuracy.

The authors developed and described an algorithm and technical aspects of lymphadenectomy performance in radical surgery based on structural variations of visceral vessels in 91 patients with stomach cancer. Preoperative helical computer tomography in regimen of angiography was carried out on 91 patients. Variant anatomy of visceral vessels was detected in 31 patients and that required change of surgical technique inorder to minimize intraoperative risks of great vessel damage and allowed performing lymphadenectomy successfully.

The authors proposed to evaluate the quantity of anatomical intracranial reserve according to morphometric measurements in axial projection by means of helical computer tomography data of bitemporal distance, width of the tentorial opening, diameter of the foramen magnum and mutual correlation of these parameters in points. This method showed a high accuracy (92%) and predictive value (85%) in determination of terms and volume of complex treatment of 140 victims with craniocerebral injury, 120 patients with primary tumors of the brain and 110 patients with acute disorder of cerebral circulation.

The article presents the results of investigation and treatment of 124 patients with neuroendocrine tumors of the pancreas (NET P): insulinima (68 cases), gastrinoma (43 cases), rare forms of tumor (13 patients). It was stated that clinical manifestations of NET P resembled the signs of neurological and gastroenterological diseases. Thus, the terms of detection would be prolonged during pre-admission stage and this validated the reasonability of well-timed application of current laboratory methods of diagnostics. An appropriate clinic neuroendocrine syndrome could be confirmed in 93-96% of patients. The authors showed that available diagnostic technique of NET P were the helical computer tomography and endoscopic ultrasound study with sensitivity 75% and 91%, respectively. It was rational to complete study with the data of intraoperative sonography for final tumor localization and its assessment in relation to the connection with pancreas duct and vessels. At the same time, it could be used in case of suspicion to multiple neoplasia. Angiography in combination with arterial-stimulated blood sampling from the hepatic vein and positron emission tomography with 18-fluorodeoxyglucose were the additional methods of diagnostics concerning the main forms of limited hyperinsulinism and generalized forms of NET P. Immunohistochemical study of removed pancreas tumor was the main method of morphological verification of the diagnosis and it’s used to develop the further strategy of postoperative treatment for patients. The surgical method of treatment of patients with NET P allowed elimination of clinical laboratory manifestations of neuroendocrine syndrome and getting general cumulative 5-year survival (69,3±4,7%) of radically operated patients.
