Exact solution of a 2D problem of thermoelasticity without energy dissipation for an infinitely long cylinder

We consider a 2D problem of a circular cylinder that is infinitely long and whose external surface is free from outside effects and acted upon by an asymmetrical temperature distribution that is harmonic in time. The problem is within the context of the theory of thermoelasticity without energy dissipation. The exact solution is obtained by a direct approach. The results are represented graphically and discussed.

Ordered Clusters of the Complete Oxidative Phosphorylation System in Cardiac Mitochondria

The existence of a complete oxidative phosphorylation system (OXPHOS) supercomplex including both electron transport system and ATP synthases has long been assumed based on functional evidence. However, no structural confirmation of the docking between ATP synthase and proton pumps has been obtained. In this study, cryo-electron tomography was used to reveal the supramolecular architecture of the rat heart mitochondria cristae during ATP synthesis. Respirasome and ATP synthase structure in situ were determined using subtomogram averaging. The obtained reconstructions of the inner mitochondrial membrane demonstrated that rows of respiratory chain supercomplexes can dock with rows of ATP synthases forming oligomeric ordered clusters. These ordered clusters indicate a new type of OXPHOS structural organization. It should ensure the quickness, efficiency, and damage resistance of OXPHOS, providing a direct proton transfer from pumps to ATP synthase along the lateral pH gradient without energy dissipation.

The Effect of Fractional Time Derivative on Two-Dimension Porous Materials Due to Pulse Heat Flux

In the present article, the generalized thermoelastic wave model with and without energy dissipation under fractional time derivative is used to study the physical field in porous two-dimensional media. By applying the Fourier-Laplace transforms and eigenvalues scheme, the physical quantities are presented analytically. The surface is shocked by heating (pulsed heat flow problem) and application of free traction on its outer surface (mechanical conditions) by the process of temperature transport (diffusion) to observe the full analytical solutions of the main physical fields. The magnesium (Mg) material is used to make the simulations and obtain numerical outcomes. The basic physical field quantities are graphed and discussed. Comparisons are made in the results obtained under the strong (SC), the weak (WC) and the normal (NC) conductivities.

The Effect of a Hyperbolic Two-Temperature Model with and without Energy Dissipation in a Semiconductor Material

In this work, the new model of photothermal and elastic waves, with and without energy dissipation, under a hyperbolic two-temperature model, is used to compute the displacement, carrier density, thermodynamic temperature, conductive temperature and stress in a semiconductor medium. The medium is considered in the presence of the coupling of plasma and thermoelastic waves. To get the complete analytical expressions of the main physical fields, Laplace transforms and the eigenvalue scheme are used. The outcomes are presented graphically to display the differences between the classical two-temperature theory and the new hyperbolic two-temperature theory, with and without energy dissipation. Based on the numerical results, the hyperbolic two-temperature thermoelastic theory offers a finite speed of mechanical waves and propagation of thermal waves.

Response of Thermoelastic Interactions in Micropolar Porous Circular Plate with Three Phase Lag Model

The present study deals with a homogeneous and isotopic micropolar porous thermoelastic circular plate by employing eigenvalue approach in the three phase lag theory of thermoelasticity due to thermomechanical sources. The expressions of components of displacements, microrotation, volume fraction field, temperature distribution, normal stress, shear stress and couple shear stress are obtained in the transformed domain by employing the Laplace and Hankel transforms. The resulting quantities are obtained in the physical domain by employing the numerical inversion technique. Numerical computations of the resulting quantities are made and presented graphically to show the effects of void, phase lags, relaxation time, with and without energy dissipation.

The existence of a complete oxidative phosphorylation system supercomplex including both electron transport system and ATP synthases has long been assumed based on functional evidence. However, no conclusive structural confirmation has been obtained. In this study cryo-electron tomography was used to reveal the supramolecular architecture of the rat heart mitochondria cristae. We show that rows of respiratory chain supercomplexes are connected with rows of ATP synthases forming the oligomeric hypercomplex. The discovered hypercomplexes may increase the effectiveness of oxidative phosphorylation ensuring a direct proton transfer from pumps to ATP synthase along the membrane without energy dissipation.

A Study on Thermoelastic Interaction in a Poroelastic Medium with and without Energy Dissipation

In the current work, a new generalized model of heat conduction has been constructed taking into account the influence of porosity on a poro-thermoelastic medium using the finite element method (FEM). The governing equations are presented in the context of the Green and Naghdi (G-N) type III theory with and without energy dissipations. The finite element scheme has been adopted to present the solutions due to the complex formulations of this problem. The effects of porosity on poro-thermoelastic material are investigated. The numerical results for stresses, temperatures, and displacements for the solid and the fluid are graphically presented. This work provides future investigators with insight regarding details of non-simple poro-thermoelasticity with different phases.
