Abstract Background There are no clear indicators for predicting return to work for patients with chronic low back pain (LBP). We aim to report the outcomes of a 14-week multidisciplinary programme targeting patients with chronic LBP who failed conventional physiotherapy to provide functional rehabilitation. Also, this study will identify factors predicting successful return to work (RTW). Methods A collected cohort of patients with chronic LBP was consecutively enrolled into the programme from 1996 to 2014. All recruited patients failed to RTW despite at least 3 months of conservative treatment. Patient underwent weekly multidisciplinary sessions with physiotherapists, occupational therapists and clinical psychologists. Patient perceived function was considered the primary outcome of the programme. Patients were assessed for their sitting, standing and walking tolerance. Oswestry Disability Index (ODI) and Spinal Function Sort Score (SFSS) were used to assess patient perceived disability. Results One hundred and fifty-eight patients were recruited. After the programme, statistically significant improvement was found in ODI (47.5 to 45.0, p = 0.01) and SFSS (98.0 to 109.5, p <  0.001). There was statistically significant improvement (p <  0.01) in sitting, standing, walking tolerance and straight leg raise tests. 47.4% of the patients were able to meet their work demand. Multivariate logistic regression model (R2 = 59.5%, χ2 (9) = 85.640, p <  0.001) demonstrated that lower initial job demand level and higher patient-perceived back function correlated with greater likelihood of returning to work. Conclusion The results of this study may support the use of this multidisciplinary programme to improve patient function and return to work.

Objective: The study was aimed to compare the effectiveness of stretching exercise and tissue mobilization techniques with piriformis syndrome patients. Methods: Thirty-two participants were included in this study and they were classified into two groups. Group A, stretching exercise, hot pack, and group B, tissue mobilization technique, hot pack. Every group obtained two sessions in a week, for four weeks. The participants were assessed by (VAS), (RMQ), and (HAM-A). Results: The comparison revealed that for RMQ there was a significant difference between groups in terms of the stretching exercise group (P >0.05). For HAM-A and VAS, there were no statically significant differences between groups (P <0.05), but the impact of both exercises indicates that stretching exercises have a higher positive effect comparing to tissue mobilization on pain. Conclusion: The study proved which the stretching exercise was more efficient than the tissue mobilization technique on the pain outcome measures. It’s reported that stretching exercise improves low back function more than tissue mobilization technique. In the end, the study indicated that significantly there was no difference between both groups on the anxiety outcome measure.

In order to solve the error of simulation result because of data loss in VR-Link traditional simulation framework, in this paper data transfer mechanism of instance attribute on VR-Link object class is researched in detail. Registration method of call-back function is given, and the key codes of relevant steps are published. The problem of data loss is solved by the call-back function of VR-Link.

Low back pain (LBP) is a common disorder bothering many people in daily life. Qigong as a part of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), is considered to be an effective therapy method in promoting health and reduce back pain in adults. Purpose: The purpose of the present study was to review and analyze the existing data about Qigong exercise and its possible effects as alternative medicine on pain and back problems in individuals with low back pain. Methods: Potentially related articles were narratively retrieved from the electronic databases PubMed and Physiotherapy Evidence Database (PEDRO). The search period was from January 2015 to August 2019 (01.01.2015 to 31.08.2019) and the keywords included the terms “Low back pain “and “Qigong”. Results: The main results of this study suggest the potential use of Qigong as a meditative easy movement may improve back function, range of motion and core muscle strength, it may also reduce the pain intensity and considered as a good strategy for pain management. This review might lend insight into more future studies on Qigong and its application in the treatment and prevention of low back pain. However, further experimental research is still needed.

Objective: Despite the wide use of telephone call-back services in Swedish healthcare, there has been little research on how it affects patients. This study explores individual experiences of a call-back service, concentrating on barriers to healthcare, and healthcare-seeking behavior. Methods: The study was conducted at Angered Hospital and Angered Primary Care Rehabilitation Center in Gothenburg, Sweden. Ten informants, 28-82 years old, who had used the call-back service participated in interviews about their experience of the call-back service. Thematic analysis was used to analyze data from the interviews. Results: Three themes were identified in the analysis: (1) features and functions of the call-back service; (2) the call-back service as a barrier to or facilitator of healthcare; and (3) adjustments to the call-back service. Most informants were content with the call-back function. Negative experiences were related to language difficulties and the length of time allowed during the phone call. Lack of available appointments and telephone access were problems reported. Informants suggested a longer time frame for calls, longer opening hours regarding telephone access, more language and voicemail options, and the possibility of speaking to a person. Conclusions: Informants in this study mostly had a positive impression of seeking healthcare using call-back services. Barriers related to language and time frame for calls could be explored in larger studies. The results from this explorative study suggests that a combination of approaches – with other options added to the call-back services - might increase equal access to health care. The use and effects of call-back services warrant further investigation.

A guide post is used to separate pavement from roadway and widely used for car parks, pedestrian safe zones and refuge islands as well as for asset protection such as columns, pipes from impacts [. But it is very easily hit hard by cars. This study uses the contradiction matrix in the TRIZ method, 39 engineering parameters, and 40 inventive and innovative principles to identify the areas of improvement to address the above problems. When the guide post is hit by a vehicle, a flexible structure located between base and cylinder can curve and spring back to original position, and therefore endures more powerful hit. In addition, the spring back function lets the guide post automatically return to original position to alert drivers. This structure will has more durable service life, so, it can be used to reduce the maintenance times, and cost for the users.
