Blood transfusion service and its social component – donorship must be the priority areas of the state policy because the results of its work are of paramount importance. The main task of the blood transfusion service is supply of high quality components for blood transfusion therapy. Quality of blood components is compliance of properties and specifications of the blood component supplied to the recipient with the set standards. Strict order of conformance with the approved regulations and procedures is important at all technological states and is a cornerstone of blood transfusion service products quality. All actions, planned and implemented, starting with planning donorship and ending with the finished product manufacturing and storage conditions, are important for ensuring the quality as the final result. The purpose of the study was to determine the content of total, platelet and free serotonin in the plasma of primary and active blood donors for further use of the studied parameters to assess the quality of platelet concentrate. Materials and methods. 160 blood donors (118 men and 42 women) were examined, including 110 active donors (85 men and 25 women) who donated blood regularly at least 3 times a year and 50 primary reserve donors (32 men and 18 women), who donated blood for the first time. Primary reserve donors formed a control group. For the convenience of systematization and reproduction of scientific research results, objectification in comparing research data, all examined active donors, depending on the duration of donor experience and, accordingly, increasing the probability of occurrence of hidden platelet metabolism disorder, were divided into three subgroups: subgroup I – 51 donors (39 men and 12 women), whose donor experience lasted from 2 to 5 years; subgroup II – 31 donors (24 men and 7 women), duration of donor experience which ranged from 6 to 9 years; subgroup III – 28 donors (22 men and 6 women), whose donor experience lasted 10 years or more. The method of fractional determination of biological amines – serotonin – is presented in preliminarily dried biostrate specimens. The method described includes some extraction procedures with optimal controlled pH values necessary for isolating serotonin, producing fluorophors in accordance with orthophtaldialdehide and ninhydrin, the subsequent fluorimetric estimation of their levels being performed on the native fluorometer «БИАН». Results and discussion. It was found that active donors compared to control, have a level of free serotonin in peripheral blood platelets which was significantly higher. Biochemical shifts were revealed in the background of certain morphological changes of platelets. Possible pathophysiological mechanisms of the detected changes are discussed in the article. Conclusion. Active blood donation is accompanied by significant changes in the morphological parameters of platelets and the content of free serotonin in peripheral blood platelets. Further study of platelet hematopoiesis of active blood donors is required

The smart grid concept enables demand-side management, including electric vehicles (EVs). Thus way, some ancillary services can be provided in order to improve the power system stability, reliability, and security. The high penetration level of renewable energy resources causes some problems to independent system operators, such as lack of primary reserve and active power balance problems. Nowadays, many countries are encouraging the use of EVs which provide a good chance to utilize them as a virtual power plant (VPP) in order to contribute to frequency event. This paper proposes a new control method to use EV as VPP for providing primary reserve in smart grids. The primary frequency reserve helps the power system operator to intercept the frequency decline and to improve the frequency response of the whole system. The proposed method calculates the electric vehicles’ primary reserve based on EVs’ information, such as the state of charge (SOC), the arriving time and the vehicle’s departure time. The effectiveness of the proposed scheme is verified by several simulation scenarios on a real-world modern power system with different generating units, such as conventional power plants, renewable energy resources, and electric vehicles.

With the large-scale integration of renewable energy sources (e.g., wind power), the system inertial response and primary frequency regulation are affected. The virtual synchronous generator technology, which makes it possible for wind power units to adjust the frequency, provides a new way of approaching this problem. In this paper, we set up the related constraints that fit the optimal dispatch framework with a primary reserve representing the primary frequency response between the conventional synchronous generator and the wind power units, and the technical parameters of the virtual synchronous generator. Meanwhile, we use the robust day-ahead optimization dispatch model considering the wind power integrated primary frequency control in the real-time operation with the scenario of the wind power output showing the uncertainty of wind power. Based on the model, we identify the key set using an iterative method and obtain the maximum power loss. Through the proposed model, we could provide the day-ahead unit output and real-time primary reserve, thus ensuring the reliable operation of the system. Finally, the effectiveness of the proposed method is verified by a computational experiment.

Povzetek Rezervna sestava kanadskih oboroženih sil (CAF) je sestavljena iz več komponent. Največja komponenta je primarna rezervna sestava (P Res), katere namen je dopolnjevanje redne sestave (Reg F) pri delovanju doma in v tujini. Vloge pripadnikov stalne in primarne rezerve sestave so zato podobne, obstajajo pa tudi pomembni samostojni vidiki. Sodelovanje v primarni rezervni komponenti lahko prinese bistveno drugačne izkušnje in izzive, povezane z zadrževanjem kadra. V tem članku primerjamo podatke iz dveh nedavnih velikih raziskav: ankete kanadskih oboroženih sil o zadrževanju kadra v stalni sestavi (CAF Reg F Retention Survey) (n = 1956) in ankete kanadskih oboroženih sil o zadrževanju kadra v rezervni sestavi (CAF Reserve Force Retention Survey) (n = 3669). Rezultati so pokazali, da je tako pri pripadnikih stalne sestave kot pri pripadnikih rezervne sestave prisoten konflikt med njihovimi vojaškimi, civilnimi in zasebnimi vlogami, čeprav na različne načine. Iz rezultatov je prav tako mogoče sklepati, da so pogoste domneve, da naj bi pripadniki stalne sestave rezerviste dojemali kot manj predane od njih, neutemeljene. Presenetljivo je, da je bila čustvena in normativna predanost rezervistov višja od predanosti pripadnikov stalne sestave, razlog njihovega odhoda pa pogosto povezan z željo po večji in ne manjši vpetosti v vojsko. Priporočila avtorjev se osredotočajo predvsem na izboljšanje ravnovesja med poklicnim in zasebnim življenjem pripadnikov ter na enakost med komponentami. Ključne besede: kanadske oborožene sile, stalna sestava, primarna rezerva, rezervna sestava, zadrževanje kadra. Abstract The Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) Reserve Force comprises several subcomponents. The largest is the Primary Reserve (P Res), whose purpose is to supplement the Regular Force (Reg F) in operations at home and abroad. As such, there is similarity in the roles of Reg F and P Res members, but also important unique aspects. Membership of a primarily part-time force may result in significantly different experiences and retention-related challenges. This article compares data from two recent large-scale surveys: the CAF Reg F Retention Survey (n = 1,956) and the CAF Reserve Force Retention Survey (n = 3,669). The results indicated that both the Reg F members and the reservists experience conflict between their military, civilian, and personal roles, albeit in different ways. They also suggest that Reg F members’ oft-cited perceptions of reservists as being less dedicated than themselves are unfounded. Surprisingly, the reservists’ affective and normative commitment was higher than the Reg F members’, and their reasons for leaving often focused on a desire to be more, rather than less, involved with the military.
