021/2011. The results of studies of the physical and mechanical properties, chemical composition and safety indicators of the constituent parts (pulp, peel, seeds) of «Torpedo» melon are presented. As a result of a comparative analysis of the chemical composition of the pulp, peel and seeds of the melon, their significant difference was shown. Thus, the fat content in the pulp is 0.26±0.003 g, in the peel - 1.24±0.01 g, in the seeds - 26.21±0.31, the protein content is, respectively, 7.56±0.11; 9.92±0.14 and 21.52±0.32 g. The study of the content of reducing substances and crude fiber showed their high content in the peel, in comparison with the pulp and seeds. It was found that a high content of potassium (934.88±14.02 g) and sodium (270.54±3.78 g) are concentrated in the pulp, a high content of iron (15.12±0.23) - in the peel, and a high phosphorus content (854.72±0.82 g) - in seeds. According to the research results, it has been proven that the safety indicators of the Torpedo melon fully comply with the requirements of TR CU 021/2011.

Abstract One hundred fifty years ago, Friedrich Miescher discovered DNA when he isolated “Nuclein”—as he named it—from nuclei of human pus cells. Miescher recognized his isolate as a new type of molecule equal in importance to proteins. He realised that it is an acid of large molecular weight and high phosphorus content. Subsequently, he discovered Nuclein also in the nuclei of other cell types, realised that it chemically defines the nucleus, and speculated on its role in proliferation, heredity and fertilisation. While now universally recognised as the discoverer of DNA, whether Miescher also discovered RNA has not yet been addressed. To determine whether his isolation also yielded RNA, we first reproduced his historic protocols. Our resulting modern Nuclein contained a significant percentage of RNA. Encouraged by this result, we then analysed a sample of Nuclein isolated by Miescher from salmon sperm. Assuming that the RNA present in this sample had degraded to nucleobases, we tested for the presence of uracil in the historic Nuclein. Detection of significant levels of uracil by LC-UV-MS demonstrates that Miescher isolated both forms of nucleic acid—DNA and RNA—and underlines the fundamental nature of his discovery for the field of molecular genetics.

Abstract KME Cu-DHP is a phosphorus-deoxidized copper that contains a minimum of 99.90% copper and high residual phosphorus. The electrical conductivity of this type of copper is relatively low on account of the high phosphorus content. KME Cu-DHP possesses very good formability and joining properties and is resistant against hydrogen embrittlement. This datasheet provides information on composition, physical properties, hardness, elasticity, tensile properties, and bend strength. It also includes information on corrosion resistance as well as forming, heat treating, machining, and joining. Filing Code: Cu-923. Producer or source: KME Germany GmbH.

AbstractWe used liquid chromatography high-resolution tandem mass spectrometry to analyze the lipidome of turtlegrass (Thalassia testudinum) leaves with extremely high phosphorus content and extremely low phosphorus content. Most species of phospholipids were significantly down-regulated in phosphorus-deplete leaves, whereas diacylglyceryltrimethylhomoserine (DGTS), triglycerides (TG), galactolipid digalactosyldiacylglycerol (DGDG), certain species of glucuronosyldiacylglycerols (GlcADG), and certain species of sulfoquinovosyl diacylglycerol (SQDG) were significantly upregulated, explaining the change in phosphorus content as well as structural differences in leaves of plants growing under diverse phosphate concentrations. These data suggest that seagrasses are able to modify the phosphorus content in leaf membranes dependent upon environmental phosphorus availability.

Macro-inorganic elements such as sodium, potassium, iron calcium and phosphorus were determined in condiments popularly used for preparation of routine meals in Pakistan by applying techniques like flame photometry, spectrophotometry and volumetric analysis. The largest amount of sodium and potassium was found to be present in medicago, while cinnamin leaves exhibited the smallest amount. Black pepper was found rich in iron and medicago was found rich in calcium. High phosphorus content was exhibited by parsley.
